[Q] Alarm with ascending volume? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Just moved over to the One M7 and am running ViperOne.
So far so good except I can't see any way to set the alarm to start at a low volume and increase.
I know there's a ton of alarm clocks in the Market that have the feature, but many of them do way more than I want...
Am I overlooking the option in ViperOne, or are there any recommendations on a simple alarm that can do this?

Thanks for the suggestion...I am always wary of free apps that ask for too many permissions, and that one apparently requires access to your email accounts...and all the ones I have seen have folks complaining that they recently stopped working or were unreliable.
Went for a simpler fix - Audacity + my alarm sound + volume envelopes = just what I wanted.
Now instead of a 20 second alarm sound, I have a 5 minute one that ramps up gently for the first two minutes.

Been using Alarm Clock Plus for years; has served me well.

[Q] HTC Sense stopped unexpectedly

sorry if someone else has posted this
i have recently been getting this message
"the application htc sense (process com.htc.cs) has stopped unexpectedly"
i have seen plenty of posts around the net relating to com.htc.launcher but few mentioning .cs.
I have a desire HD running 2.2.1 software 1.72.405.3
this is happening everytime i unlock the phone and when i run alot of apps.
i have found that if i disable htc sense sync then it doesnt happen.
i have uninstalled all apps that have been installed recently but still no fix.
i like htc sence and would prefer to keep sync active, so if anybody could help i would very much appreciate it.
The general feeling on here is that you should disable HTC Sense as:
A/ It's heavy on the CPU and consumes a lot of battery.
B/ The website side of things is still beta and mostly broken anyway.
Sorry that's not what you want to hear, but I think that's what most people will tell you I'm afraid.
Why do you want to keep it? Maybe there's an alternative app(s) that can do the same thing for you.

Hopefully with the release of all the new phones from HTC it will be working sooner rather than later! Only HTC know when though. You could email and ask. If anything it will show them they need to hurry up as people want to use it properly.
As for keeping phone location and ring features, they're not something I use personally so I don't have any specific recommendations but a good place to start would be here:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/mcafee-wavesecure/com.wsandroid
http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=lost+phone
http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=phone+location
I'm actually going to look into them myself now too!
ok then i like the look of waveSecure but any idea on a way of making my phone ring at full volume even if its on silent. ive used this feature a couple of times and i find it very handy.
thank you
Sorry mate, no idea! Best bet is to check out the app descriptions and test them out.

I know this is an old thread but if you're still looking you can use 'wheres my droid' one of the first apps I ever downloaded. You just text your phone with a certain message and it will ring loud as you wish. Also if your gps receiver is on you can even gets its gps co-ordinates
Guys have a look at "lockout mobile security" you can track your phone, rings etc.

Massive drawbacks with this phone

Ghost volume button issue on most devices
No micro sd card support
Confusing user interface
No Facebook contacts sync
No native social network widget
Can't add more home screens
Fuzzy speaker
Lock screen vibration can't be switched off
No digital clock only analog widget
Quadrant benchmark only 1500 score
Lag in many areas
No Facebook events calendar sync
Only 5m camera
THE VOLUME BUG HAS REALLY PUT ME OFF AND SAMSUNG ARE STILL TO ACKNOWLEDGE
Ghost volume button issue on most devices - Valid Concern
No micro sd card support - Shouldn't be a surprise
Confusing user interface - Seriously?
No Facebook contacts sync - Facebook's fault, not Google's
No native social network widget - Again, look at the social networks for blame
Can't add more home screens - Never been more than 5 in stock android
Fuzzy speaker - valid concern
Lock screen vibration can't be switched off - Don't have one, so can't comment
No digital clock only analog widget - Never been one in stock android
Quadrant benchmark only 1500 score - Don't have one, so can't comment
Lag in many areas - Don't have one, so can't comment
No Facebook events calendar sync - Never been in stock android OR from facebook's app
Only 5m camera - Shouldn't be a surprise
Most of this is your own fault for not knowing in advance, or isn't a valid point.
"Massive"??...thats a strong term to use. Most of your points are either things we already knew or there are other ways to circumvent, so therfore a non-issue. I think you just wanted to make a thread just to be making a thread.
+1 to the other comments.... it is in the best interest to your homework before you purchase, not the day after
The ghost volume and fuzzy speaker are the only real concerns......... and Really. . . . . How many here are going to keep this stock ??? hmmmm???
My guess the sound and volume will be eliminated when either Voodoo is adapted to this phone or some other equal
And, as far as all those other issues custom roms solve all of them
As for me, I always try to get something that has great hardware the software doesn't matter, we here in XDA will customize, make, kang or just create what we need.
Seems to me that this threads are becoming typical every time a new device hits the market more so in this case with all the hype of the Nexus. Buyers remorse, lack of due diligence? Or something else…
Other than the low volume problem, this post only proves how ignorant you are.
Previous post sums it up.
UI is fine - blame the user not the tech!
I don't have the volume issue but that would be the only concern I would point the finger at.
Making a deal about vibrate on a lock screen - what next??

Saying that there has been a "lack of due diligence" implies that people have just gone out and bought the phone with no knowledge of it whatsoever. This isn't true. I read every single hands on, preview, and article I could find on the Nexus before I bought it, and not a single one mentioned any of the problems or small annoyances we have been having. So, tell me - how has showing "due diligence" made any difference to me?
Buyers remorse? Sure, that could factor into it - but only because of the problems.
These threads are becoming more typical because the devices are getting more expensive, and we are becoming to rely on them more for our day to day life. If problems are happening, they become more of an issue to us

Not sure that setting is in Security - think its in display - and deselecting it in display has no effect on lockscreen
Then again - maybe I'm remembering incorrectly.

And also that is a lot easier to insult someone behind a monitor rather than face to face in real life.
Oh and Quadrant is one of the worst benchmarks available. Try some others like linpack / antutu / cf-bench. Eventho those are probably not optimized for ICS, they at least use multithreading etc.

I actually agree on the interface/UI. Menu key appears on some apps at the bottom some at the top some dont have it at all. Also there's no menu key on the main android screen which Paul O'Brien has modded to show that its there in the code to be used. Not sure what Google were thinking there? Same old Google for me, rushing out updates. ICS needs some polishing in my opinion. Battery life sucks still on the OS too which I would have thought they would have addressed this time around. That volume bug is a pain too, BIG ONE!
This is my opinion mind, hope Google sort these things out.

If you're talking about what i think you're talking about then that is actually intended to be like that.
Apps that use the keyboard (Such as messaging, gmail, maps, etc.) all have an action bar where, amongst other things, the menu is that the bottom. When you start using the keyboard, the action bar is removed, and the menu button is then moved to the upper right side of the corner.
Of course, any other app developer can put this wherever they like, and for the apps not currently compatible with this type of menu they have the "compatibility" menu in the software buttons.
As for, what i assume you mean the launcher, it's possible that there is still code for it in ICS to be compatible with older phones that may be upgrading to ICS but will have the 4 capacitive buttons instead, including the menu button.

I'm looking at my Motorola Milestone, which I believe is stock Android, with an option for seven and nine homescreens. But I don't use more than five anyway.

No, the Milestone is not fully stock Android but it's close. The launcher is slightly different as you've seen.

Ringtone and Notify volume change depending on time APP

Sorry for the quirky topic title.
I am looking for an simple and light app to control my ringtone and notifications volume depenging on time. Im looking for simpliest and most resource light app to control it via user set profiles.
Prefering free or really cheap app options.
Any ideas? I remember that there was this huge app for android that controlled almost everything via time, gps, sunsets etc. but I dont need such complicated app.
I just want to automaticaly set loud ringtone volume between 9:00-21:00 and low volume between 21:00-9:00 and thats all.

issues since update to Android 7

Just seeing if anybody else has been experiencing any issues since the update to Android 7
Some of the issues I've seen.
1. When trying to update apps and I load another app, the play store will freeze (notification screen will say play store is not responding)
2. When I have multiple apps open, the recent apps button seems to hit or miss if it actually wants too display anything
3. When using the facebook app and I press the recent apps button, I get the split screen, but the face book news feed goes blank
1) tried a few times, no freeze
2) works like a charm here, 30+ open apps, task switcher is instantly there & double tap to quick switch between apps is working flawlessly..
3) cant test, no facebook account
Cheers

No issues here. Thing has been smooth.
Facebook even works fine in split screen
No issues noted on my end, Facebook shows up normally, although it does give the warning that it may not work properly in split screen.

For point 1, try sideloading the latest Play Store and Google Play Services APKs.
For points 2 and 3, these seem like they might be Nougat issues, and not HTC 10 issues. Try a google search and see if you find anything.
No issues at all either. Ran perfect the few days I had it in my phone.

I've been having a few issues since the update too. The stock weather clock doesn't seem to work on apex launcher. Haven't tried it on any other launcher yet, but it works fine on the sense launcher. I also haven't been getting notifications right away for gmail and some other apps. It might be some overly aggressive power saving. I noticed those particular apps are completely closed and gone from the recent apps drawer after a while and I get the notifications when I open them manually. Going to try turn off power saver for a day and see if it does anything

Did you dirty flash? If so then full wipe and avoid restoring apps until you can verify that the rom works as expected..
Let us know how you get on
My concern is signal ,is very bad after update and the download speed is Lower than any other phone ,even Lower than axon 7, I did a speed test in the same spot and axon 7 got double the speed than HTC 10

I too love the m8. A beast. The 10 is a worthy successor. And i personally prefer it more to the other flagships as well. The only ups are that it has a fingerprint scanner, way better camera and the high res audio. You won't feel much difference in the perfomance if running normal apps. So if you want these things, go for it else flash CM 14.1 in your M8. I too have flashed cm14.1 and everything has improved.
I hope you have got the answer to your question.

I think so, thanks. I mainly love the smoothness, the sound volume of the speakers and the sound quality of the headphones (my last smartphones were Samsung and they sucked on those departments) on my m8 but I've read that the speakers sound better on a quite ambient (more bassy) and the headphone quality is even better, is that true?

The m8 is the only phone I didn't own and the one x in the htc flagship line up.. I've had the rest and I've use the two I didn't own.. The 10 at this moment in time is the best phone thet is.. There isn't anything to argue with it.. A change in OS maybe but a better phone, for me there is none.

I had the same exact devices as you and the International One X, and Sprint Evo 4G LTE before those and I am loving everything about the HTC 10! The Nougat update allows you to disable the standing notifications in your notification drawer and a couple of status bar icons. You can also add a few quick toggles and that is Nougat stock...I am going to clean up my SD card and flash ViperROM because I have run it on all of the HTC devices I have owned and it always works great for me!

It's a Sense based ROM but has the BEST and most customization options like status bar brightness slider, horizontal tenable quick toggles, also vertical quick toggles, custom theming, a whole Venom Hub full of add ons and more but it absolutely stays true to Sense...unless it still has the "De-Sense" option in the Aroma installer options

Anyway to repeat message/text notification?

My last phone a Sony XZ1 use to repeat the text/message notification every couple of minutes until you checked you phone.
Is there a way to do this on the 8pro.
Thanks.
Greetings @Tinderbox (UK),
As far as I am aware, I don't think there is such a built-in feature in the base OS (assuming you are using any stock image), the repeating notification is based on the App you are using which may or may not offer that option (I have no idea if stock app has it, never used it).
For example in my case, currently using "Silence" app (F-Droid repo) for text messaging (a secured text messaging app forked from Signal without all those enforced options which became more of a nuisance rather than a real improvement over the years) and it offers a 'Repeat Alert' option in the notification settings within the App, from never to 10 times. It works as intended repeating alert when that one was missed. Missed being understood as long as you did not dismiss the notification itself.
If your Apps are not supporting such a feature, I guess there should be a way to work around that limitation making automated tasks using things like AutomateIt repeating a notification sound after a given sleep.
Hope this helps,
Regards,

It`s a bit strange the 8pro does not support repeat notification, If you miss the first notification for some reason not everybody checks their phone all the time.
Other phone manufactures support it, Anyway i am on Stock Android 10.
Thanks.

Maybe it does support it., Idk, never had checked for it and never came across it either (and I do mess with notification a real lot). I just remembered I had seen that option (and used) in my text app so I shared what I had found out
I am currently messing around with many settings myself, if I come around anything that suits your needs, I'll make sure to come back and let you know.
Please let us know of your findings too!
Good luck!
