Sorry for the quirky topic title.
I am looking for an simple and light app to control my ringtone and notifications volume depenging on time. Im looking for simpliest and most resource light app to control it via user set profiles.
Prefering free or really cheap app options.
Any ideas? I remember that there was this huge app for android that controlled almost everything via time, gps, sunsets etc. but I dont need such complicated app.
I just want to automaticaly set loud ringtone volume between 9:00-21:00 and low volume between 21:00-9:00 and thats all.

Any other worth mentioning apps?
Lama 1989y interface and last update in 2014 is concerning.
I used Locale for years to set profiles and other settings based on time and/or location.

I've finally taken the plunge and moved to a different OS (android) after being a supporter of Windows mobile for so long. So a lot of comparison going on at the moment
Anyway, one application I really liked in WinMo was the phone alarm which could change profies, notification settings, connectivity etc. This could also be scheduled. Is there something similar I can have for the desire? I couldn't seem to find such a setting on the desire.
Also, is it possible to activate the screen saver when it times out? Currently I get a black screen, but would be cool to get a clock or something, especially while I'm at work. I see there is an app called 'Desk clock' and I quite like the look of that but I haven't figured out how to actiavate it on screen timeout (like a screensaver)
Finally, has anyone used a docking station with the desire yet? I've seen a few here but not sure if they are any good
phoneAlarm replacement
I too was an avid pA user on WinMo and I haven't [as yet] found a direct replacement. I am using an App called 'Auto Task' which does some of pA's features (http://android.a0soft.com). Still looking for a good location based switching app though.
Try locale for all your needs. It does location based everything and has various plugins you can add too.
I have it turn on desktop when docked, switch off sounds and vibrate mode when entering work, switch off all sounds at night, auto sync when connected to wifi, and enable bluetooth when driving Excellent app.
Settings Profiles - is worth a look too
Hi.
You might also want to try Settings Profiles it similar to Locale and the WinMo app phoneAlarm.
I've used both (actually I've tried all 3) and I've settled for the time being on Settings Profiles.
It's available in the Marketplace.

+1 This is a brilliant app. I recently converted from winmo too.

Thanks guys, I've downloaded the lite version of Setting Profiles and it seems very good so far. Lots of customizations possible. I might purchase the full version if the lite version works well.
The only concern I had is that some of the reviews imply that it works fine for sometime and then it is not very reliable. Did any of you have similar experiences?
I have the Full vesion. IMO well worth the (small amount of) money. I have had no problems with reliability with the HTC Desire
Profile Switching etc
I have been testing a new app called "Tasker" which has an astounding array of features for controlling the phone. It is currently in beta test but I have not had any issues with it.
Checkout the web page at "tasker.dinglisch.net"
It is due to be released to market shortly and will cost around $6, (if you buy it direct via paypal it will be $1 less) which is cheaper than "Locale" and from what I have seen much more powerful.
I recommend reading the online guide to get a handle on how to use it, I think I am only scratching the surface at the moment but for me I am definately going to buy it once it is released...
Hey everyone, I have searched around and can't find anything on how to change the vibration intensity of the phone. If you know an app or way please let me know. Does anyone know if the vibration voltage level is in the build prop?

Although I don't know how to do exactly as you want, there's a workaround that's even better.
Download SMS Popup free from the market. You can set this to notify you of an SMS instead of the HTC app notifying you. (make sure you disable the HTC app from notifying you too.)
With SMS Popup you can choose the vibration signature or 'tune', so you can have whatever short and long SMS vibrations you want. The app does far more, such as letting you have a popup of the SMS over whatever current app or screen you're in; and doing a vibration reminder every x minutes until you check the txt.

Try Ringo Pro - you can choose from 5 different intensities of vibration, passing through "frenzied", and up to "relentless"
Try the free version, you may just be able to set up your phone without needing to buy the Pro version (unless you want to, of course)
instead of all the Cm7 rom offer You This Option If You Use CM than its ur lucky day
Or use Go SMS Pro or Handsent, that allows for custom vibration sequences

Just moved over to the One M7 and am running ViperOne.
So far so good except I can't see any way to set the alarm to start at a low volume and increase.
I know there's a ton of alarm clocks in the Market that have the feature, but many of them do way more than I want...
Am I overlooking the option in ViperOne, or are there any recommendations on a simple alarm that can do this?

Thanks for the suggestion...I am always wary of free apps that ask for too many permissions, and that one apparently requires access to your email accounts...and all the ones I have seen have folks complaining that they recently stopped working or were unreliable.
Went for a simpler fix - Audacity + my alarm sound + volume envelopes = just what I wanted.
Now instead of a 20 second alarm sound, I have a 5 minute one that ramps up gently for the first two minutes.
Been using Alarm Clock Plus for years; has served me well.
I think most of us would agree that one of, if not THE, biggest justifications for rooting our phones is to install Viper4Android, dual-speaker sound, changing number of volume steps, and other sound-related mods. It's always mystified me why Samsung hasn't developed an app that deploys at least some of the mods possible with V4A.
Well apparently they have, just without advertising it! SoundAssistant lets you tweak the number of volume steps, set different volumes on a per-app basis, select apps that can play audio at the same time as other apps, and select apps to only play sound through headphones or when connected to Bluetooth. You can also enable a floating icon that appears for a set number of seconds when you press a volume button, that lets you adjust the equalizer directly without having to navigate through Settings.
Nothing earth shattering really, but if you're like me and have ultimately chosen to stay stock then this at least gives you some additional mods to play with.
Enjoy!

I like it but what about porting it for non samsung galaxy device? any chance? I'm actually looking for a good sound mod for no rooted smartphone but i'am on Huawei actually!
SoundAssistant was already installed on my Note 8 as part of Samsung supplied apps...
Nothing noteworthy truly, however in the event that you're similar to me and have at last remained stock, at that point this at any rate gives you some extra mods to play with.
It's not installing on galaxy m31?? Why??
My last phone a Sony XZ1 use to repeat the text/message notification every couple of minutes until you checked you phone.
Is there a way to do this on the 8pro.
Thanks.
Greetings @Tinderbox (UK),
As far as I am aware, I don't think there is such a built-in feature in the base OS (assuming you are using any stock image), the repeating notification is based on the App you are using which may or may not offer that option (I have no idea if stock app has it, never used it).
For example in my case, currently using "Silence" app (F-Droid repo) for text messaging (a secured text messaging app forked from Signal without all those enforced options which became more of a nuisance rather than a real improvement over the years) and it offers a 'Repeat Alert' option in the notification settings within the App, from never to 10 times. It works as intended repeating alert when that one was missed. Missed being understood as long as you did not dismiss the notification itself.
If your Apps are not supporting such a feature, I guess there should be a way to work around that limitation making automated tasks using things like AutomateIt repeating a notification sound after a given sleep.
Hope this helps,
Regards,

It`s a bit strange the 8pro does not support repeat notification, If you miss the first notification for some reason not everybody checks their phone all the time.
Other phone manufactures support it, Anyway i am on Stock Android 10.
Thanks.

Maybe it does support it., Idk, never had checked for it and never came across it either (and I do mess with notification a real lot). I just remembered I had seen that option (and used) in my text app so I shared what I had found out
I am currently messing around with many settings myself, if I come around anything that suits your needs, I'll make sure to come back and let you know.
Please let us know of your findings too!
Good luck!
