[Q] Bootloader locked. Screwed?

I've got a new t807a from AT&T. According to the "about device" settings page, SE is "enforcing." My understanding is that this conclusively indicates that my bootloader is locked. It's currently running Android version 4.4.2, build number kot49h.T807aucu1ank1
I don't need a custom ROM and I don't care about tripping my knox counter (per se). I just want root. I've asked this in several relevant threads this week and gotten contradictory responses. Is there or is there not currently a method to root my tablet?
If not: is there hope? This is a great tablet but I can't live with the bloat for 18 months until I can afford a replacement. I CAN still return it and eat the 70-dollar "restocking" fee.

Just because it is enforcing, does not mean it is locked.
The s6 shows enforcing and for the T-Mobile version can be rooted with autoroot and trip Knox.

Locked bootloader aside, root can be achieved. Check the Dev pages for specifics/updates but this is the auto page link. You'll see the 807 is being tested but check back there often to monitor progress.

Thanks. I have been following that. Just hoping someone knows something I don't I suppose.

ATT=Locked Bootloader which there's not going to be root or anything. Same goes for Verizon. SE enforcing is Selinux. Most devices have that including my Tab S 10.5 WiFi with unlocked bootloader. SE is an protections or somesort (google it).
Since you have a locked bootloader, it will fail to flash modfied stuff to get root. It will only flash stock images. So you may have to return it. Just remember, don't buy from att or Verizon. Buy an unlocked model or Tmobile. Hope this helps!

I think you're telling me there's no way to unlock the bootloader and root is therefore completely unattainable. Is that right? If it's just a matter of "we haven't cracked it yet," I can be patient. But if you're saying there's really no hope, I'm going to be far less patient.
Is there no software solution (ie towelroot) that might help me get root without having to get past the bootloader?

Its a matter "we haven't cracked it" and no one is working on it. So basically almost to no hope and the odds of getting root or unlocking the Bootloader is really really low. There's no software solution like towel root that will get root or anything that doesn't mess with bootloader.
So there's no hope (unless some breakthrough happens).

I've got an easy working root on my t807A with kingroot. And yet there seems to be no custom roms available for it.
Slightly out of topic, does anyone have a install to SDcard solution? Nothing I find seems to work

The built-in app manager lets you move apps to SD but I also have not found a solution to install directly to SD (without repartitioning the card). After several months of despair, I'm just now checking back to see if there's been any development on the bootloader front. It appears not. You can get root with Kingroot (also check out supersume, if that's still around, to replace kingroot's su app with supersu) but apparently the bootloader being locked prevents any non-official ROM from booting.

H815 rooting questions

I have had my G4 H815 locked to UKEE for a good few months now and I have been holding off on rooting as the official way of unlocking the bootloader I believe breaks the DRM keys and it was hinted that there was a small possibility than a nicer way may come about. It's not looking like that at the moment and I am now clucking to get my root apps and freedom back.
I have had and HTC Desire, Samsung S2 and Xperia Z1 all rooted many times and flashing multiple different things etc so I am by no means new to rooting but I am not a technological whizz kid and looking at the root methods for this, as with every new phone it seems, rooting methods are getting more difficult. My questions are;
1. Can anyone tell me what they have experienced not working when the bootloader gets unlocked? I understand it may just be video streaming? Can anyone confirm the likes of Netflix etc won't work? Any other apps / ill effects? I assume YouTube still works? I currently use Barclays banking app, that didn't work on old phone while that was rooted, I'm assuming with the bootloader unlocked it will never work again on G4?
2. Is Root ANY LG G4 Variant 100% Success Directives | Root Injection | Less Bricks the best root method to use? Or is it, as I guess [ROOT] TMO/VZW/ATT/SPRINT/INTL Root your LG G4 with Low Effort Root! the best to use? Or is there another you suggest that is easier / better / harder to destroy my phone?
3. Slightly O/T but being on EE they are extremely stingy with updates so I am still running 10C, I have seen about FW up to 10H or more. Is there somewhere that has the change logs of these different firmwares?

This is true for the Sony Xperia devices, but not really for others that I know (Samsung S6 and HTC M9 included). I have unlocked the device on day 2, and everything works: YouTube, My own banking apps (they give me a warning tough that I am rooted, but working without issues), all camera functionality, video streaming (no Netflix here to check tough), IRDA, BT etc.
The banking checks for root (if you have SU access and not if the bootloader is unlocked), this can be hidden with the RootCloak app, but depends on the banking app itself. As I said, mine warns me that I am rooted, but everything works.
As for which is the easiest method, I prefer flashing SuperSU package with TWRP recovery, since the bootloader is unlocked. It's safe and failproof.
The other methods you listed are mainly for devices, which can't have their bootloaders unlocked.

Thanks. I know the Xperia devices broke drm keys so that the bravia engine etc didn't work. But at least with them you could backup drm keys and relock the boot loader. I read somewhere that the g4 breaks the keys but it was only really streaming type service's that may be effected.
Yea Barclays just straight up won't work and there rootcloak doesn't have an exploit to hide root from that as far as I could find.
I read somewhere on this earlier too that there is an unofficial unoficial bootloader unlock being worked on sounds like not far off. May just wait and see if that way comes to light soon and if it's a safer way and revertible for warranty purposes etc as it can't be done after accepting an update looks like.

How to root?!?

Im on 5.1.1 G925TUVU3DOJ7. Is it possible to root 5.1.1 without tripping knox right now? Or can i downgrade to 5.0.2 by flashing stock 5.0.2 with odin then root with ping pong without tripping knox?
Also what are the best roms, kernals & other cool tweaks you recommend? Just got this phone so i would really appreciate the help, thanks have a good one.

I don't think there's a way to root without tripping KNOX right now. There was an engineering bootloader that allowed flashing without tripping KNOX, but I don't know if it still works (it might). However, this bootloader breaks the fingerprint scanner. There is no way to have an un-tripped KNOX and working fingerprint scanner at the moment, I know that for sure.

PingPong used to work, it doesn't anymore. I agree with what the other poster said about the engineering bootloader however this file was requested to be removed by samsung (sboot.bin) so good luck finding it. I think you might be onto something downgrading to a previous release, I'm not too sure but the OH6 I think is the one that I used PingPong on to gain root but I don't know if the new bootloader will let u. It should though, if it replaces the sboot.bin it should let u downgrade. I'm just not sure, this new update has caused a lot of stuff to not want to flash for me, I'm waiting on my new internet to arrive before I start messing with it anymore because my phone is my only link to the outside world. if you find out please let us know? I'm very interested in the answer.
I've heard Hacker Kernel is a really good one, people seem to love it.

If I remember correctly, PingPong only worked on 5.0.X, and once you update to 5.1.X, you are no longer able to downgrade back to 5.0.X. I think if OP is on 5.1.1 his options for root are VERY limited if he wants an in-tact KNOX, especially since you are indeed correct, and the engineering bootloader seems to have been removed.

guys i need help , after flashing the rom G925TUVU3DOJ7 on my S6 Edge 925T its stuck on galaxy logo and not booting , i've trying to use unikernal but its not work i get like flashing is locked !!!

Rooting is a risky business since last update, make sure you have a good download or download again from Samsung website and try again.

Really why is everyone so concerned about knox? All it does is make it so you can't use Samsung Pay. So use Android Pay. Set it up before you root then back it up after you root. Restore it whenever you flash a new rom and it will work. I rooted the day I got my S6 Edge which was before the Plus came out and I have never had any problems. Everyone worried about knox this and knox that has a messed up phone.

HI,,I updated firmware 5.1.1 to a rooted G925T using Smart Switch (no errors etc) now the phone is stuck on android Samsung logo so I tried to reflash the firmware many times using Odin3 the only frimware it took with no errors was (G925TUVS3DOJC) which is the last one but still the same thing stuck at Samsung logo so i searched it online and it says something wrong with EFS and has Bad Root Key it know as DRK (DEV Root Key) and don't know how to fix that. anyone can hepl plz.

Hello everyone I was thinking if we could bounty for a root and unlocked bootloader without tripping knox we may get faster results, I don't have any extra money at the moment but I'm sure by the time this happens I will be able to help just started a new job.

Can I root N910V 6.0.1 CPF3?

I just Ebayed into a Note 4. I wanted the N4 for it's AMOLED display and camera. I don't know how I feel about the S Pen. I'm new to it. The phone came with 6.0.1, build MMB29M, baseband N910VVRU2CPF3.
When I get a phone I usually want to root it, clean off the bloat and install TWRP. I don't often swap into non-stock ROMs. Resetting up the phone after flashing is more hassle than I want to deal with.
1. Can I unlock the bootloader, root and install TWRP in this phone's current version?
2. If I take the CPG2 OTA before Rooting, will that stop me from unlocking the bootloader and rooting?
3. Is there any way to get security updates after I root?
I can follow cook book instructions but don't have a deeper understanding of Android or Linux.

I think so. I also want a Verizon Note 4 to upgrade my recently cracked Verizon Note 3. I have been looking for a Note 4 phone with build BPA1, but that April 2016 build seems hard to come by now. It looks like the site below seems to show we can still unlock these magnificent phones with upgradeable storage and replaceable battery. Let me know if it works for you.

Here we go, this thread seems to show people with Verizon Note 4 did roll back with ODIN to BPA1 after installing a Marshmallow update as late as 3 months ago. Hopefully it still works for you. I think the instructions above need you to be on BPA1 first, but I did not look through too carefully yet. I would definitely recommend not taking any OTAs from now on if you really want root.
