If I'm willing to trip Knox, can I flash 4.4 onto SCH-i435?

Hello wise ones,
Been reading through here but wanted to make double sure before trying anything.
Would really appreciate if someone could take a moment to confirm a couple of things for me:
(1) If I'm willing to trip Knox, is there a way to get Kitkat going on my SCH-i435?
(2) From what I've read of the Knox threads, only downside to tripping it is voiding warranty?
Thanks so much for your time...
for what is know, your only downside is to void warranty, then you can flash with odin any rom that has the same bootloader version or newer.

[Q] S4 Root/installing a custom rom

Sooo, I'm not entirely new to XDA, I know I should search for things and I have been, if you know a thread that may help, please post and point me in the right direction, thanks.
I just learned about KNOX (Haven't paid samsung much attention in the past year) and wanted to know; is there any way I can root, and install a custom rom/recovery without tripping KNOX?
Or is there a way for me to still use T-Mobile's insurance with a KNOX count of 0x1? I want to move to Android L as soon as it's fully released (or a little after for bugs to move away). Thanks.

If you want to flash a custom ROM, there is no need to root at all. If you already have a KNOX bootloader (MK2, NB4, and NH7) flashing custom ROMs WILL trip the KNOX counter. No way to get around it. I think you can root MK2 and NB4 without tripping KNOX, but I'm not sure about NH7. Look up towelroot. If you decide the KNOX counter doesn't really matter, CF-Auto Root works for all versions flawlessly.
If, by some strange chance, you are still on the 4.2.2 (MDL or MDB) bootloader, you can pretty much do whatever you want because KNOX wasn't yet implemented on those bootloaders; Triangle Away is all you'd need to return the device to 100% official status. That app only resets the flash counter; it does nothing to the KNOX warranty flag. That can't be reset.
As far as using insurance with an 0x1 counter... chances are it will go through. The reports are mixed; some people haven't had a problem while others have gotten busted.

[Q] Question about root and updates.

My understanding is that the retail verizon wireless edition (non-DE) of this phone can still be rooted. But you will trip knox, thus voiding warranty. I also understand you don't have an unlocked bootloader either.
I don't care about warranty, but I do want root. My question then becomes about future updates. If knox is tripped, can I still get to lollipop when it is released. I know I would probably loose root again at that point, but I live in the hope that eventually that too will get rooted (I know it may be vain hope, but still).
If my phone is rooted, will it block me from ever getting lollipop? Because without a bootloader, I can't put lollipop on through a custom rom either.
So, for someone who absolutely doesn't care about warranty issues, is root still a bad idea?
Thanks

Interesting, I read somewhere you can root it still, but it will just trip knox. Maybe they were wrong.
I'm seriously struggling pulling the trigger on buying this without root. But I don't care about warranty.

Nothing yet. It's a nice phone but if you need root go for the DE edition. I can live without root, it would be nice but it's not a big deal to me. I have other rooted phones I can mess with if I want.

This phone is great as is. I personally would not let no root stop me from getting this phone. But its up to you.

How to root?!?

Im on 5.1.1 G925TUVU3DOJ7. Is it possible to root 5.1.1 without tripping knox right now? Or can i downgrade to 5.0.2 by flashing stock 5.0.2 with odin then root with ping pong without tripping knox?
Also what are the best roms, kernals & other cool tweaks you recommend? Just got this phone so i would really appreciate the help, thanks have a good one.
I don't think there's a way to root without tripping KNOX right now. There was an engineering bootloader that allowed flashing without tripping KNOX, but I don't know if it still works (it might). However, this bootloader breaks the fingerprint scanner. There is no way to have an un-tripped KNOX and working fingerprint scanner at the moment, I know that for sure.

PingPong used to work, it doesn't anymore. I agree with what the other poster said about the engineering bootloader however this file was requested to be removed by samsung (sboot.bin) so good luck finding it. I think you might be onto something downgrading to a previous release, I'm not too sure but the OH6 I think is the one that I used PingPong on to gain root but I don't know if the new bootloader will let u. It should though, if it replaces the sboot.bin it should let u downgrade. I'm just not sure, this new update has caused a lot of stuff to not want to flash for me, I'm waiting on my new internet to arrive before I start messing with it anymore because my phone is my only link to the outside world. if you find out please let us know? I'm very interested in the answer.
I've heard Hacker Kernel is a really good one, people seem to love it.

If I remember correctly, PingPong only worked on 5.0.X, and once you update to 5.1.X, you are no longer able to downgrade back to 5.0.X. I think if OP is on 5.1.1 his options for root are VERY limited if he wants an in-tact KNOX, especially since you are indeed correct, and the engineering bootloader seems to have been removed.
S6 Edge frozen on G925TUVU3DOJ7
guys i need help , after flashing the rom G925TUVU3DOJ7 on my S6 Edge 925T its stuck on galaxy logo and not booting , i've trying to use unikernal but its not work i get like flashing is locked !!!
Rooting is a risky business since last update, make sure you have a good download or download again from Samsung website and try again.
Pp.
Really why is everyone so concerned about knox? All it does is make it so you can't use Samsung Pay. So use Android Pay. Set it up before you root then back it up after you root. Restore it whenever you flash a new rom and it will work. I rooted the day I got my S6 Edge which was before the Plus came out and I have never had any problems. Everyone worried about knox this and knox that has a messed up phone.
HI,,I updated firmware 5.1.1 to a rooted G925T using Smart Switch (no errors etc) now the phone is stuck on android Samsung logo so I tried to reflash the firmware many times using Odin3 the only frimware it took with no errors was (G925TUVS3DOJC) which is the last one but still the same thing stuck at Samsung logo so i searched it online and it says something wrong with EFS and has Bad Root Key it know as DRK (DEV Root Key) and don't know how to fix that. anyone can hepl plz.

Need help relocking bootloader and returning to stock

Hi all, I'm going to preface this post by informing you all I've made an idiotic move. I have been out of the modding community for two years due to owning a huawei and not being able to unlock my bootloader (or willing to pay £50 to do so). I just got an S20 (G981B) last week and dove straight in and rooted it.
Due to my absence from the community I was not aware of google's lovely new hardware backed attestation This is a killing blow for me as I use my rooted phone very simply (no custom ROMs or kernels etc) and have had no issue passing safety net in the past so having banking apps, being able to use the netflix and prime video apps is essential for me now.
I am fully aware that my warranty is voided and there's nothing i can do about that, i knew that going in lol. Passing safety net is an absolute must so I unfortunately have to ask here for anyone's help to give me instructions (or link me to a recent, relevant thread/video) that will show me how to return to my stock ROM and more importantly SAFELY re-lock my bootloader so that i can pass safety net again. I have all the up to date stock firmware i need from sammobile and would greatly appreciate anyone's help with this.
Thanks in advance
