Hey guys,
I just rooted my p600 (wfi) and am now trying to install TWRP for my custom recovery. I can not find a good forum post about this process. I opened ODIN 3.09 and go to flash openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-lt03wifiue.img which fails. Anyone know what I am doing wrong and how I can successfully flash TWRP recovery so I can start flashing my roms? Thanks guys

i cannot help with your problem though,
but i can give some suggestion for me i use odin v.07 because its for easy to understand and still in many tutorial use odin.07
and mostly before rooting any device you must flash a custom recovery first then go root and that's what i did.
i personally use TWRP recover yet more easy to understand and to use than cwm recovery...
it's just my opinions though...

I flashed philz, then twrp, both failed to wipe cache, then I flashed philz again, and it worked. Rom is installed and working flawlessly. Not sure why the issues but thanks for the help. and I saw the mistake in download file for twrp and got the right one. Thx

With Philz, wipe Dalvik cache first, then wipe cache partition, this way wiping will function correctly.

Can anyone help.....
I have tried to flash a few custom roms but everytime I go to install it says installation aborted (BAD). I have downloaded the same rom a couple of times in case it was a bad download, but still get the same result. I flashed the leaked 4.3 via odin before trying to install custom roms, could this be the problem?. I am using philz recovery.
Anybody got any ideas what I'm doing wrong?.
Thanks in advance

The CWM you flashed is a temporary one.
When you restart the phone into recovery, it goes into the original Samsung recovery, right? If so, then just re-flash the CWM. You'll need to do this every time to go into CWM.

yeah i'm know that, but when im enter CWM not loaded, what version do you use ? give me please
I use the one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141395
(that thread says version 6.0.2.8, but when I run it it says 6.0.4.5)
I do not understand what you mean by "when im enter CWM not loaded". You need to flash the zip every time you want to run CWM, like you did the first time - somebody should correct me if I'm wrong.

what ROM do you use ?
when I was in stock MF1 I installed 6.0.2.8 (Shaaan thread, TY BTW) and it was temporary.
Then I flashed CM10.2 which installed me a new version of CWM (6.0.4.6) which is now persistent.
Can you develop a little bit more about your software configuration please ? ROM ? kernel ?

The problem is with custom roms and my screen driver s6d.
Unfortunately only with stock rom everything is working fine
I'm running Dirty Unicorn 4.3.1 and MK4 and want to root to 4.4 kit kat and load some new roms.
I have tried just wiping and flashing, but I get no data unless i'm on wifi.
Is there a step by step to get the update?? I also read about some knox crap also. Don't know what that is.
Please advise.......

Well if you read most of the 4.4 rom threads you will see you need to use cwm recovery or philz recovery. Since you are using twrp you wont get data to work without going through a few hoops.

I did download rom manager and Philz. I just wasn't sure how to get them to override TWRP. Do I just flash Philz??
Thanks so much for chiming in. I've been rooted for several years, but this update flew right by me.
Keep talking......
Yeah just flash it through ROM manager then reboot into recovery. If it is not philz recovery (although it should be) then you can just flash it in recovery.

I downloaded rom manager, but it doesn't seem to override TWRP. I also tried to flash Philz (which I preferred), but I could only try to flash it with TWRP, and of course, it failed.
Do I need to freeze TWRP in Titanium backup ???
Please re-download Philz and verify md5 then flash in twrp. After flashing in twrp reboot the recovery within twrp and boom! you have Philz!

Like you, I could not get TWRP to leave my device (no matter what I tried). Only thing that finally worked was this flasher utility to get CWM:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools
Granted I didn't try to Odin PhilZ or CWM but that was about the only thing left I hadn't tried.
I had twrp for a recovery. When I installed DU 4.4.2, I downloaded cwm 6.0.4.3 because I guess twrp and 4.4 roms don't play nice. I actually downloaded the cwm recovery, saved it on my external sd, and booted into twrp recovery, flashed the recovery file for cwm, and it rebooted. I boot back into recovery with cwm on board, and then downloaded whatever 4.4 roms and gapps package that was necessary. It works fine for me.

well i took that file from freegee folder, maybe you must flash this file first
Download CWM OR TWRP without any hassle
Just download freegee(root) from Google play store and once installed and opened ....let it download the necessary....then just click on cwm or twrp as per ur wish ......u might then feel as if the app has frozen....but it is the process of downloading...... And once finished it will show flash successful ....
Works with 4.4.2?
I used the FreeGee app on stock 4.4.2 V20c earlier, but it bricked my device. Why is that? How do I install a recovery on 4.4.2?
i have a question on flashing the cwm recovery image, i had to go back to stock as i was soft bricked - i now need to install a recovery and i am sure that when i did this a few weeks ago on my g pro i used flashify and flashed the cwm recovery image through this app and everything works ed well, now i am trying to do it and it flashes the file but wont go into recovery - it says fastboot mode started but never goes into recovery, i also tried rom toolbox to flash it and not having any luck - anyone have a way to do this ?

Philz touch cwm is a good one, you can find here on xda, or via Google search. However, my personal experience with cwm touch variant on e980 is that it causes the recovery bootloop (where you just keeps on going back to the recovery screen). Version 6.0.47 is stable , and will not cause the boot loop say when you try to open the recovery by using the up volume + power buttons. This seem to be the issue too with the cwm provided by cm update in the developer's option. Read the postings in the Philz's thread if you want to know more about the recovery loop and the touch cwm.
I get wrong date and time whene i make a backup. I have a E986. How can i fix this?

Kitkat overwrites recovery on every reboot. So here is the solution:
When you flash cwm via ODIN, untick the auto-reboot option. Let the odin flash the file and wait for pass message.
Now reboot directly to recovery (not to phone). You will be in cwm. From there you can reboot to your phone.
Now power off your phone and see if you have a cwm recovery.
Press thumps up if you found this suggestion helpful.

A custom recovery is necessary to install a custom rom but you can rooted your phone with Odin PC and CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.zip
For example there is an explanation here :http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/galaxy-note2-n7100-root-android43-xxuemk4-jellybean-523833.
You can find others in google with search "how to root samsung galaxy note 2" .
The most important before installing is to copy your important folder to your PC.
I hope that can help you.
