[Q] best rom ! - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys!
which rom has best battery performance?
now im using mahdi rom but IS there any better rom?
tnxx

Why don't you try other roms and see for yourself? No one can answer this question for you. Its all about how you use your tablet. One rom for one person can be the best, but for others it isn't.

I have been testing ROM's for the Gpad and when it comes to battery life there is not much difference. The Gpad just doesn't have the best battery lifeā€¦ especially compared to my two Nexus 7's. The Nexus averages about 9-10 hours of screen on time compared to the Gpad 6-7 hours. Under clocking the cpu helps a little.

[Q] Best kernel with CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly?

Recently i installed Cyanogen 10.1 nightly Rom on my nexus.Working quite smooth and lag free. But the problem is very POOR BATTERY BACKUP!! Battery only lasts for 5-6 hours! AOSP had very decent battery backup(maybe good KERNEL??)..
So any advice??
Do i need to flash different kernel?
I would recommend the trinity kernel .then I would invest some time finding the best under volt frequencies.

Definitely give Franco a try.

Standard answer to this question: Try all of them and see which works best for you.
i would def give Air kernal a try ive been using it on the AOKP Linario and I get easily 16-24 hrs of moderate to heavy usage:good:
Are you sure it's because of kernel? Perhaps you have installed some rough app that drains your battery. I'm on CM10.1 build 17.12 and getting pretty good battery life so far.

Faux should be on the list to try

[Q] What's the best ROM+Kernel to improve the battery life?

Hi, is there anyone who can suggest me the best Rom + Kernel to use to have the maximum battery life? If there is a similar post, i'm sorry, i couldn't find it.
I personally use rbj 4.1.2 with trinity alpa 67. I average 20 hours with 4-5 on screen time

i believe you easily!
almost same config (rom), with leankernel and 4.1.2 version is doing the job with battery life, compared to 4.2 JB, its day and night.
Ill try trinity, already placed it on my memory but was testing leankernel
No SOD, or heavy drain in use ?
I'm trying the new dummy kernel from ak and it works really good. You should give it a try.
Dummy kernel and Purity rom does the job. 36 hours or so of usage with 3hr 30min of screen time or so. 3G on throughout. ARHD does the job too
I recommend AOKP with lean kernel. Best battery saving and buttery smooth.
The combo is so stable and it's my daily rom.

Hey so I know I'm a bit off topic but I'm still pretty new to the development on this phone. Anyways for kernels, do I need to download a certain one for my phone model (GSM/LTE)? Or are they compatible with any model?

Given that you have to find *your* best combo, I think that Purity with lastest franco.kernel is better for battery life, even if AK kernel is a little better for performance.

GSM and LTE have different phone/data HW and chipset just because the phone technology is different. You have to find you custom (or stock) rom in your own forum.
And yes, you are quite OT , but I'm not an admin
Yeah sorry for the OT question. Also I wasn't asking about custom ROMs, I was asking about kernels but thank you I appreciate the reply.

I've tried about all of them and aosp with stock is definitely the best battery life........ With my usage pattern. Your mileage will probably vary.
I have no issues with my gps on 4.1.2

ARHD vs Omega. Which one do you prefer?

These are most favourite and two popular ROMs over here for our Note 2, and as I can flash only one, asking you guys which one would your prefer for better battery backup?
With Omega I have had 7 hours and 15 minutes average screen on time, and max I got 7 hours 52 minutes. If I flash ARHD could I get any better backup? I know ARHD is better for performance but I am not sure the same can be said for battery backup.
Will appreciate your feedback guys.
Regards.

Im sorry but could you please explain a bit more on what exactly is it that makes the ARHD a better performer? Im not saying the other one is but im curious to know from you, real world experience atleast.
Ive used all these roms and really theyre all the same, if any change in performance its almost insignificant.
Try phoenix rom. I'm getting great performance. 7k quadrant score

Android Revolution HD ROM
Do you like Pie or Pizza?
Nothing is above both ROMs. Both are based on different prefences and interest of a person.
I was a long term ARHD and Omega ROM user.
Both do well in terms of battery minus the human error.

That's how it should be but in reality it's not. Sammy roms have much better battery life but then again that could just be because there are better power and memory management features on stock. It's the only reason I've been reverting back to stock since almost every other cm10.1 based roms have ridiculously weak battery life.

that's kinda weird because on mine the battery on stock sucks but on cm10.1 it lasts a lot more so i was thinking the same for note2
Not really. Battery life is awesome at is on stock. You could flash some kernel like Perseus and do some undervolting or even underclocking to
squeeze more battery out of it though.
Battery life, I've found it to be more or less the same, if not marginally better on stock.
@bushako - How's battery life on MIUI mate? Heard it drains battery more than other stock based ROMs?
So what is better i hear different story's haha

I actually ended up going back to stock based Rom. The battery life wasn't as bad as I had thought, it got me about 6hours screen time. Don't get me wrong MIUI really looks gorgeous but at the expense of performance, especially at this stage since there's quite a few bugs that needs ironing out and also because MIUI and xposed framework use the same setup they are incompatible and I'm use to lower DPI. I might get back with signs of improvements.
Also, I found that Perseus kernel is not compatible with aosp and that so far the one that does work is neak and redpill.

Lower dpi means better battery life or drain the battery?
Android revolution
Android revolution rom is stock rom but all the things which causes lag are removed and u still get amazing battery too...

Custom Rom

Hey people. I'm kinda new to the game of flashing etc. Currently I'm running Viper on my HTC one s (and loving it)! But that's not why I'm here. My old phone (mums current phone) is a Wildfire s, so what I want to do is root and flash a custom rom for it in hopes of increasing the battery life. I know cm is pretty good with battery, but are there any suggestions as to which rom I could use? Or may be better? Maybe even a jb sense?
Thanks in advance

Hello. I think that, in terms of battery life, the stock rom is the one that lasts the most.
