[Q] sprint Galaxy S3 L710 android version 4.1.2 wicked sensation 4.2 ota to 4.3

I have a rooted sprint galaxy s3 L710 running Android version 4.1.2 and Wicked Sensations v4.2
I'd like to upgrate my Android version to 4.3.
My questions are the following:
Can I just get the 4.3 ota or do I need to unroot the phone first?
What's the easiest way to get my phone to android version 4.3?
I don't want to brick my phone.
I want to upgrade to the latest Wicked Sensations also.
I want to intall TeamViewer on my S3 and I need at least android version 4.2
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I used Teamviewer on my rooted Droid X2 running CM7... Recently moved over to Sprint on the SG3 which I rooted the day I got it. Now running 4.1.2 Stock rooted and have no problem running Teamviewer. As for 4.3 ota, I don't have a clue. All can tell you is I haven't seen it yet other than some AOSP ROM's based on 4.3 like Eclipse.
But anyway Teamviewer works just fine on 4.1.2.

The latest Wicked Sensations 5.0 is still 4.1.2 but it is flawless. I'm not sure I'll flash any other ROM on my GS3s ...

I just installed the latest version of Wicked Sensations.
I think I'll hold off on the android version 4.3 for now.

No write permissions anywhere!!!

When I try to read or write anything on my phone I get permission denied. I'm trying to do a backup with titanium pro. The only way I found to create a folder is with root browser. HELP PLEASE! this is making me crazy.

It's related. Flash the stock but permissive ND8 kernel CNexus posted in Development, then no other fix will be necessary for internal or external. Or flash Ktoonsez' latest TouchWiz 4.4 kernel.

[Q] Will a 4.3 ROM (like CM 10.2) work with the ND8 modem?

Currently running stock 4.4.2 (ND8) and looking to try out Cyanogenmod 10.2, which is 4.3
The only other phone I have any experience flashing ROMs on was a Sprint S2 (D710) and no custom ROMs were compatible with its Jellybean modem, so you had to flash an old modem separately. Is there any similar situation with this phone? Does it make any difference that I'm trying to flash a 4.3 ROM? I'm not very familiar with how that stuff works.
This will answer a lot of your questions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2743554
But yes you can flash any ROM you like, still, but do not ever try to downgrade your modem (or bootloader) now that you're on the full Knox ND8 bootloader. You'll hard brick your phone if you do.
I have no personal experience with just how well the "old" ROMs work with the ND8 modem, FYI.

[Q] ND8 Worth upgrading

Good day,
I have seen some new TW ND8 ROMs and a few non TW ones. For those that made the jump do you think it's worth it? Normally I am all over new base band upgrades but since ND8 is balls in no turning back update I'd like some user feedback please.
Please include how long you have been on the update in your reply.
If I am missing something and you are able to Odin back to other base bands then great but if not....... :silly:
I appreciate the input.
Thanks.....
It was worth it to me.
Answer 3A here is what you want, as you did you just can't ever Odin anything but ND8 or NDC after, same for modem. Note if you try the NDC modem and WIFI doesn't work, you have to flash a custom kernel like Ktoonsez KT747.

Thanks for the info. What are your impressions. System speed, stability, data/wifi speeds, cellar reception...anything else you can think of compared to 4.4.2 KK ROM's? I am currently using Carbon, In the past I have used various KK/JB ROMs such as - Liquid Smooth, PA, Peoples... etc..etc...etc
You're welcome!
I can't compare to non-TouchWiz, I haven't used AOSP/CM/PM, etc in a while, before TouchWiz 4.3 anyway. I really liked 4.3 but I'm liking absolutely everything about TouchWiz 4.4.2 even better.
IMHO, try Wicked X 7.0 after flashing the ND8 stock tar and the very latest Philz Touch Recovery. Flashing any ND8/NDC based ROM before flashing the stock tar will hard brick your phone.

I appreciate it...Wicked is one of my favorite series of ROMs, definitely great development....

If I was to use TW I would use wicked because it is a great ROM other than that I wouldn't use stock

thanks for the added info. And I agree all versions of wicked I have used in the past are great.

Once you Odin ND8 going back will hard-brick your phone. Personally I'm not a fan of it. If my phone shuts off for whatever reason, plugging it into a charger causes a kernel freeze & I have to pull the battery & unplug it in order to boot into my phone. This never happened to me on MK3 and I have yet to find a fix. I personally can't stand Touch Wiz. ND8's battery life seems to be better to me than MK3, though.
Thanks for the update as much info as possible helps.
i've been liking ND8 so far. It seems to be smoother than MK3. I haven't had any random freezes or hot reboots like I did before. For some reason, when i update apps on the play store, my phone would lag so bad it was unusable with MK3. With ND8, I can still multi-task and what not. Been getting great battery life on stock too. Check out the ND8 battery results thread for my screenshots
I also upgraded to N8 and have not have any problems. on MK3 my camera kept freezing (although that was a rom issue I think..) and some random reboots. Haven't had any and I have improved service in my area over someone else who didn't upgrade.
I appreciate the feedback, both positive and negative, I predict a weekend project coming up.

Strange problem after STOCK ROM 4.4 ND8 Kitkat ROM

Since I cant ask this question in the dev thread I have to ask here. I updated my phone to the [STOCK ROM][4.4] ND8 Kitkat ROM. Which is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741413 seems to be working fine except that I dont think I can write to my Internal Card. Here are the strange problems I'm getting. I cannot see any thumbnails for pictures on dropbox or onedrive. I also get thumbnail failed to load. When I try and open a file on Dropbox it says. Storage full or unavailable. I know I have enough storage. Which make me think its not letting it write to the internal mem card. I did add the external sd write fix from the Play store. But for some reason I think something went wrong with the internal card. Can anyone shed some light ?
Flash either Cnexus' permissive version of the stock kernel, or use Ktoonsez and the problem should go away. It sounds like the feature of 4.4.2 that makes things more secure, but until apps are rewritten to handle the SD card differently, you'll have that problem with an enforcing kernel.

Thanks for your help. Since you mentioned the Permissive I did a google seach and found SELinux Mode Changer in the play store which worked great. Thanks for your help.
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2747586 and removed the app from the play store which looks like it does the same thing but its better. Thanks for your help
You're welcome, glad you found a couple of solutions.
