Hello everyone
I just got a note 2 off mining and it's locked to Bell. I want to unlock it to work with other carriers. I know that there is a way to self unlock but you need an older version of android. My note is 4.3 and I read that trying to downgrade will get my device bricked. So, being new and unexperienced at this, can someone recommend me what to do? Is there a safe way to downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.1 or should I just pay someone to unlock it? If the latter, is there a really cheap online unlocking for Canadian carriers?
Thank you for your help

I've done a ton of searching for methods to unlock the I747m Canadian variant of the S3 and always get confused because I'm a not too tech savvy newb. Does anyone who cares to read this know if there's a method of downgrading the s3 to 4.1 ? I remember an ambiguous thread on how you can use mobile Odin to downgrade everything but the boot loader but I have no idea how that works or where I even found that thread. Can anyone point me in the right direction, if there is one?
Once updated to 4 3 you cannot downgrade or unlock for free
In order to use the free unlock method on an i747 or i747m, you need to be running a completely stock Samsung 4.1.1 ROM, including the 4.1.1 bootloader, to ensure that the phone actually gets unlocked.
If you have the 4.3 or higher bootloader, you cannot downgrade the bootloader. Attempts to downgrade the 4.3 bootloader to an earlier will probably brick your phone. Since you cannot downgrade the 4.3 bootloader, you cannot use the free method to unlock your phone.
Yes, you can use mobile Odin to downgrade the i747 and i747m Samsung ROM to 4.1.1 from 4.3 but your phone will still have the 4.3 bootloader which cannot be downgraded.
To sum things up: if you have the 4.3 or newer bootloader, you will need to buy an unlock code.
I've rooted a few devices in the past, but I've never unlocked any phones with this T-Mobile Device Unlock app.
Could anyone tell me if rooting and tripping the Knox counter affects unlocking using the T-Mobile app? I don't think it would but I'd like to be sure I can still unlock my device in the future after rooting my device.
Has anyone rooted first and then unlocked their T-Mobile S6 Edge?
Thanks in advance

nah dude. I rooted the TMob S6 Edge I have here and even froze the unlock app via Titanium Backup. it does nothing. I purchased this phone for our store with the intention of unlocking it because it was financed only to find out its damn near impossible. Waiting on a software fix. Maybe a custom ROM or flashing AT&T's software if its released..
Hello,
First time poster. I just bought a refurbished unlocked Verizon Note 4. It is currently running Android Version: 6.0.1. I am interested in upgrading the OS to Nougat or Oreo (if possible) Do I have to root the phone to do this? I am not really interested in rooting, I just want to update the OS.
If I have to root, whats the easiest method? I read conflicting threads on the forums saying it cant be done with Verizon Note 4's. Some people say it can be done.
Thanks

Lol well you either have root and an unlocked phone or you dont have an unlocked phone. Hopefully you didnt get charged more for the alledged unlock. Unless you meant simlocked in which case , all verizon phones are unlocked and i hope you didnt pay more for it .

Sorry, when I said unlocked I meant SIM unlocked. I am from Canada and all our carriers simlock the phones while under contract. Anyways, is there a way to force upgrade the OS on these devices without rooting?

Not to my knowledge, but the root/bootloader exploit is for bpa1 which you can Odin back to or forward if applicable...couple of post recently with older bootloaders don't remember if you were one or not
Hello. I recently got my hands on a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SIII. The phone is network locked and I need to unlock it. I already rooted the phone.
However I have not been successful in unlocking the SIM. There is a method posted here on XDA which tells you to use the menu by dialing *#197328640#. However it won't work on the versions after Android 4.1
I was wondering if anyone can share with me where I can download the stock or a custom ROM with Android 4.1 so that I can use this method to unlock the SIM.
If you know of any other methods that don't require me to pay third parties please share them with me.
Thank you.
If the phone is running a stock 4.3 or newer bootloader, you cannot use the free method to unlock the phone.

That's right. I was wondering if anyone could share with me a 4.1 bootloader because I wasn't successful in finding one.
You can't flash a 4.1 bootloader over a 4.3 or 4.4.2 bootloader. Trying will probably brick the phone.
As the title states, I can't find jack **** on my factory unlocked ATT Moto z 2 force xt1789-04
Can I and how do I Root it??
I know the bootloader can't be unlocked right??
I've had this phone for 6 months and the adds from apps popping up randomly is seriously irritating
Just disable apps that you do not want to use.
About ATT bootloader unlock, keep buying lottery and you may win Powerball one day.
I already do that, disabling apps
I know bootloader can't for att
Is there any way to Root it without??
Please and thank you
Maybe there are some other ways, but most of us dont know about it.
Currently, unlock bootloader is the only way to root Motorola phone.
Anybody else know anything else on the att 1789-04 factory unlocked phone.
Bump for info???
Is it at all possible to root or unlock bootloader????
att factory unlocked xt1789-04 on T-Mobile network
Thanks everyone
Short answer is no you can't bootloader unlock or root the at&t version
