Rooted update.zip needed for 2.3 please..... - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi All
Been given an Ace 2... But usb is damaged.... Charges fine but pc or laptop will not see it so flashing via odin to obtain root will not work.... So was wondering if a dev is able to create a rooted update zip for 2.3.6 that could be flashed via stock recovery?
Would be great if some one could..
Regards
Lohtsr

maybe driver problem !?
maybe USB cable corrupt !?
i think rooting via update.zip on 2.3.6 is not possible.
never seen such file for 2.3.6

def usb on ace 2 damaged... as tried dif pcs and cables and always shows as unrecognized device...
the cdc composite drives never install for it either when connected in download mode.

phone not seen by laptop via usb

Could someone help me on this issue. When i connect my phone via usb to my laptop and on other different laptops/computers i've tried so far, it only charges the phone without mounting sd card or allowing data transfer. I'm using an O2 branded stock htc desire running on froyo. i want to root my phone and install install a custom rom. i don't know how or if possible to make a goldcard without using a usb connection cable to a laptop/pc and for the other processes of rooting and installing a custom rom.
I took it for repairs and a new port was put in and still same problem persists.
You know that you have to manually select mount sd. Also have you tried to connect it via adb, not to transfer files but to see if i usb connection works?

For the adb connection, I think this will require USB cable connection or it's there a way to do this without USB cable connection.

Once you plug in your USB cable, you have to pull the top bar down and manually select to use it as a usb 'disk'...only then will you be able to load it with custom ROM.
As for rooting, I think you need to enable USB debugging for the UnRevoked method....

when i select it to use as usb disk, the laptop doesn't see it, same for usb debugging.
i tried using a usb hub with four ports to connect my phone to the laptop, the message i get is that '' this usb device is not recognised''. Pls why that message
Any help on this issue. I've been reading on usb brick phones and how to unbrick it. The problem is even when phone is connected via usb in fastboot mode, it still say device is not recognised. i was trying to get the CID number of the phone. i've never rooted or flash a custom rom yet. i started experiencing this when the phone fell on a concrete floor. i don't know if this is hardware related problem or software related.

[Q] Can't get Epic 4G to flash

Ok... So my Epic 4G is pretty out of date... Running 2.3.6, GINGERBREAD.EL30 stock rooted.
I'd like to update it to newest stock (and wipe the phone)
So I downloaded the SPH-D700-FC09-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 file
Install the drivers... run ODIN... do download mode... Nothing on Windows 7 pc #1. Tried 3 different cables.
Next went to windows 7 PC #2... Still no dice
Windows 7 PC #3... nothing
So then I thought... Hmmm maybe Heimdall will help me out.
I uninstalled all drivers and Samsung crap from all 3 computers... Zadig detects nothing on any of the computers... If I force list all devices it actually shows an unknown USB device on one of the three...
So then I though... Maybe I should install Linux... that doesn't need drivers right?
Install Ubuntu... install Heimdall... Boot into download mode... STILL NOTHING! "Failed to detect compatible device!"
Wow...
So anyways...
What gives?
I do have ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.6 installed... Maybe that could help?
You could just flash fc09 deodexed/rooted and upgrade both CWM and the modem.

Would this one work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580931
Would I have to flash the BML or MTD version?

That's the rom. Since you're having so much difficulty getting Odin to work, I'd say stay on BML.

The stock Samsung cable from my wife's S3. (with the weird plug shapes)
A generic white cable that I've used to flash my S2 twice.
And the old stock Samsung cable from my Samsung moment. (Flashed my moment many many times with it)

Samsung cables are known to be crap... especially for this phone... I have used the cable that came with my epic for an s2 and an s3 on Odin, but it wont work with the epic... get a good data cable like a blackberry cable...

Well for some reason CWM got stuck auto-converting all my partitions to ext4 (I have no idea why it did that...)
So I tried installing sleeperRom (for the ext4 support) but it just sits at the samsung logo doing nothing now...
Guess I'll have to try and find a compatible cable... Or a PC running Windows XP / Vista.
Found an LG cable... no worky either windows / linux / odin / heimdall
(The white cable immediately detected my S2 in download mode via Heimdall...)
Interesting... I cannot mount the sdcard from CWM.
E:Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory)
Also, now CWM is saying my mount points might be RFS again...
I also get errors mounting cache and system in CWM... no explaination though.
1.) I'd highly suggest getting a cable from the link I provided. They ship very fast and the prices are dirt cheap, but quality is all there. (Don't let price dictate the image of quality in your head.)
2.) Use the USB ports on the back of your PC since they are attached directly to the motherboard. Do not use any port on the front as it is most likely an emulated port. Definitely do not use a laptop dock USB ports, as those are emulated as well.
3.) It may also be worth while to format your SD card. Back up the contents and use your PC to format the card. Replace only the necessary files you need and leave the junk off of it.
4.) If you're able to get Odin to recognize your phone after taking the steps above, then completely start from scratch. I'd even repartition the thing for good measure.
This one be ok?

I will format the card once I get home and see if that helps with the mounting issue.

Should be fine. Correct pin type.
are you using a USB port from the back of the machine (if pc) and if laptop have you tried all USB ports sometimes a port will have a lower voltage esp if they are in the front face of a tower and it makes transfers on the epicmtd crap out
I use the back ports... Two towers and a laptop.
I have a monoprice cable on the way. Should be here monday.
Ill post back then if I get it working or not... (although im not optimistic about it...)

If you get no love with the new cable it may be the drivers

Well... I could test out new drivers on all the cables right now...
I'm using the ones linked here:

When the phone is plugged in in download mode , check The device manager on the computer and see if you have any exclamations

[Q] USB Problems

Hey guys,
Now, my Galaxy Note 2 was rooted. When I connected it with the USB cable to my PC the PC didn't recognize it (it used too, but then suddenly it stopped connecting). It still charges but no new device is detected. No Kies, no MTP, no Odin.
I didn't worry too much, because being rooted I could still do everything using the external sd card.
However then the ROM for Android 4.3 was leaked I stupidly installed the stock version. So, no root, and no capability to mess around with the phone.. I also have no viewable option in Settings to set the device connection to MTP, or PTP mode as usual, but maybe that's because of Android 4.3
I have bought a new USB flex part, opened it and replaced it but it still didn't work.
I download a version of phoneutils.apk and installed (because the one on Android 4.3 didn't have Qualcomm USB settings option) and choose the correct options, but still nothing.
Do you have any idea what may have gone wrong? Or what I can try to do?
I desperately want to root the thing.
Thank you very much! I appreciate any suggestion and reply.
Hi!
This might sound stupid but... have you tried a different USB cable? Or USB port? Sometimes this can solve these kind of issues. Take a look in your computer's Device Manager and see if you have any problems with the USB hub driver. Also try to connect using a different PC and see if that works.
You can try and boot in Download mode (Vol down + Home + Power) and see if ODIN sees the phone. If so, you can flash another stock firmware and see if your USB works then.
Yea tried all that! No success. /:
Phone goes into download mode but Odin does not recognize it..

[Q] Note II GT-N7100 USB connection problem

Hello,
I'm an average user just following the creative work on XDA since I had my htc HD2 lion.
I hope you can help me
I have international galaxy note 2 GT-N7100
I rooted it long before 4.3 update and it was working great.
I updated through Kies without uprooting, it showed error at the end and switched to phone recovery and was updated to 4.3 and worked great.
Device status showed modified for a few days then showed official.
I tried to Root it using a method without pc but failed and showed patched kernel error.
Then I updated to 4.4.2 OTA from the phone and it worked fine and shows official status.
The problem now is the micro USB can not recognize pc] (it does not show USB icon and connected as MTP in the notification bar) and can not be recognized by pc (it does not even show USB device not recognized) , also can not recognize OTG storage ( it detects the OTG cable but not the flash disk.
I have tried everything related to all components including pc, drivers, cables, and all are working very fine with my Galaxy S3 including connection, drivers, Kies and Odin recognition.
I hope one of the senior developers can help me.
I would be very grateful to any one who can offer a solution
my friend is having the same problem. Whenever he connects his note 2 in any pc , his phone only charge and no usb. if you have found any solution then please let me know.
Try replace your usb cable.
