I've installed the new ROM - so far mostly positive.
There is one thing driving me mad (no not the time on the today screen )
I leave the Jasjar switched on and connected / charging via USB. It stays on OK but keeps going back to the password screen.
What I want is to enter the password when ever it switches on. If the device stays on then I don't want to have to enter a password.
Anyone got any ideas???
do you have push mail setup?? if so it could be exchange policy enforcing it.

The problem is with the device password - NOT the SIM password which works as expected.
Under...
Settings -> Lock
I have ticked "Prompt if device is unused for" and set the time to 0 minutes.
In the previous ROM this meant that when-ever the device is switched off / on it would prompt for the password. However if the device stays on, for example when it's connected to external power then it just stays on - the password screen never appears.
In the new ROM after 1 minute without being used it reverts to the password screen. If you change the "Prompt if device is unused for" time as above then you can make this longer but then you lose the benefit of the switch-on password for this ammount of time.
What I want...
If you turn the device off it prompts for password when you turn it back on.
If the device stays on it never prompts for a password.
I suspect this is a side effect of the new security features that allow IT administrators to set a password timeout. They probably wouldn't want the user bypassing this by leaving the device on. However they have chosen what to me is a strange behavior for "0 minutes" with a timeout of 1 minute when the device is on.

even without push email ... once your administrator decides to install Exchange SP2 the e-mail sync won't work without password setup unless he manaully disable it (the default is simple PIN and time is 5 minutes).
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
It's driving me nuts so I've had to turn the password feature off, but I'd really like to be able to turn it back on.
Thanks guys.
Hello everybody,
still no solution for this password problem.
I'm having the same problem since upgrading the rom on the tek 9000.
Even if you are using the TOM TOM the pda after about a minute it reverts back to the password screen.
Anybody??????????????????????

Not a complete fix but you could set the timeout to something like an hour.
I've got the password set on mine and don't find it too intruative with a decent timeout set.
I'd guess that it doesn't activate with certain apps as I've not noticed it locking with TCPMP though I may just end up pausing it before the timeout occurs and resetting the countdown.
Ok, after being extremely peeved about this bug I just found a solution that works fine, at least on my Universal:
http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=221
This official M$ password utility from the stone age of Pocket PCs works as it should. (Just remember to turn off the WM5-password lock before turning on the old password utility.)
Hello every1
after a lot of searching for the past month after I did the Rom upgrade on my Qtek 9000 I've find the solution to stop the Password screen to appear when you are using TOM TOM Navigator 5.
Go to this URL and you well find the instraction on how to do it.
http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=51293
Hope this well be helpful to someone.
I've been using it for a month now and it works fine.

That fix is too complicated for me.
Anyone else got a simpler solution?
This password reset is driving me nuts too!
If Windows Mobile 5 is supposed to be more secure, this just makes me want to turn the password option off - making it less secure!!
NEW ROM - £$%$^ Password screen keeps appearing
I have a fix! (I think)
1. Get a registry editor (I used minied of sourecforge.net, because its opensource, but there are many others available)
2. Go to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Security\LASSD\AE\{50C13377-C66D-400C-889E-C316FC4AB374}
- The value called AEFrequencyType will be 1. Change it to 2.
- Ensure the value called AEFrequencyValue is 0
Exit the editor and reset the device.
From now the device should only lock to the password screen when the power shuts off, as per pre-AUK2 behaviour.
Note that if you go in to the lock settings screen, it will try to change the AEFrequencyType value back to 1. Also, this will *not* work if you have an Exchange 2003 enforced policy for this setting active. The policy will overwrite it.
Mine says ASFrequencyType\0 (0x0)
Is this what I edit?
When I click to edit, I have options of 'New DWORD' or 'New String'
Not sure what to do now.
Any idea please?
Which registry editor are you using? It sounds like when you're clicking, it's trying to create a new value, possibly the default value for the key, rather than edit the existing AEFrequencyType value. Most registry editors have a tree structure of the keys in the left hand or upper pane, and the list of values in the right or lower pane. Make sure you have the value highlighted in the right or lower pane before you click edit.
First though, my apologies, one step I missed: Before you do the registry edit part, make sure you have set a password and set the device to prompt if device unused for 0 minutes in Settings -> Lock.
Lastly, can you clarify - is the ASFrequencyType or AEFrequencyType you've got in your registry?
hey "Mutant"....I just tried your method by changing the registry AEFrequencyType from 1 to 2, and it seems to be working fine, thanks a lot. Have you up to now, found any other problems?
Hi
I hope this is the correct section to ask for help flashing a smartphone!
I received from a chinese supplier a HP iPaq 5xx clone as a present. He told me that HP had cancelled an order from their chinese supplier and they were giving them away cheaply.
The only identification mark (except from IMEI and serial numbers) is a part number (10DBSS10A01) which doesn't come up in Google. There are CE and FCC marks but no FCC number that might lead to the manufacturer.
I have confirmed that this is a HP iPaq 5xx clone visually (everything is in the right place, even if differently marked, e.g. the voice recorder button starts the camera), spec-wise (CPU, OS etc) and by a 'hidden' startup message that comes up if I power on while pressing the volume up key: "IPAQ 500 VOICE MESSENGER". When doing so the message is displayed for 4-5 seconds and then the phone reboots to the normal generic WM6 screen.
I'm happy playing around with the phone and would like to replace my ageing Nokia 6310i but I need the ability to write SMS in Greek. While WM6 provides greek support in most functions, the phone only supports English, Turkish, German and Russian languages for T9 text (which I cannot seem to disable!).
Naturally I tried to use HPs ROM update of the iPaq 514 phone (sp38065) that supports Greek but, naturally, the HP utility does not find a valid phone connected (the ROM is intended for SKU ID FA906AA#B1A).
The phone has another 'secret' key combination (Power on & Volume down) which starts it up to a text screen with the following lines:
DBS Loader: V0.760
Build Time:May 8 2007
HWVer: 12, HWID: 89
GSM: V1.090
When in this state the phone is unresponsive even to the power down key and I need to remove the battery to start it again. My guess is that it may be either searching the SD card for a ROM image or is waiting for a program to send the ROM image via the USB cable. I did try to load the HP ROM image (PLT_2.05.00_4018.BLOSGSM.nbf) on the SD and booting but nothing happened, perhaps because it looks for a specific name.
Although this is my first time using smartphones I am a computer hardware professional and can also follow 'hacking' instructions although I lack the tools for smartphones.
Any suggestions to try and flash the ROM I need will be greatly appreciated, I don't care if I end up with a dead phone!
Thanks in advance

Bumping the thread...
Hello.
My dad brought home a Qtek 9100 from work which he found in his new office. The phone had a cracked screen in it, so I had to change the screen in order to get it working. Apparantly the guy who was working in his office before had tried to fix the phone, because four of the screws were missing.
But when I turn the phone on, after the HTC and the Qtek screen, the phone asks for a four digit password. I have not inserted any sim cards. It seems like it's som kind of phone lock code or something.
I'm a total newb and I don't know anything about Qtek phones like flashing etc.
Is there any way of removing this password, or a way to find out what the code is?
Do a hard reset
find the device specific forum for the 9100 and figure it out using the wiki or something
DO NOT make a new thread until you've thoroughly searched

Hi!
I got my Pixel 2 XL last Monday, and it seems like a fantastic device so far. Unfortunately, I'm not having much luck getting Active Edge to work. During setup, I set the Pixel up as a new device (no data restored) and chose English (United Kingdom), but no matter the sensitivity chosen, the phone wouldn't register my squeezes. I eventually tapped "Not Now", deciding to update my phone before trying more. With my system up to date and all three Active Edge options enabled, it still doesn't detect a squeeze, whether I'm trying to activate Google Assistant or silence an alarm. I also tried setting English (United States) as the only language, and booting into Safe Mode, to no avail. Is there anything else left to try besides a factory reset? Should I be suspecting faulty sensors at this point?
Thank you to everyone who chimes in!
Out of the blue, the setup screen for Active Edge reappered after unlocking my phone today, and Active Edge now appears functional. I'm none the wiser as to what prevented it from working in the first place, but I'm happy I don't have to deal with an RMA. Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Colleagues,
A customer (an older Mr. with a teenager) brought me a note 8t (note 8 pro) to unlock, whe power on go to a screen: "this device is locked this device is associated with an existing Mi Account. For security reasons, you need to enter the password to verify the device" - So what happens: the boy had a chip and was not putting a credits (here the telecom block pre-paid chip when you dont put credits each month), until the telecom canceled the number, and the boy didn't care much for that and bought another chip and some time after, he says he had to reset, anyway, the cell phone turns on and enters the Mi account's length screen, he doesn't remember his password and can't recover, because the code goes to his old number that has been canceled and he has no more.
I'm a technician, but I usually always took care of hardware, I never performed a service more related to software like that.
I didn't find anything on the internet about unlocking the Note 8 Pro, I got here:
I didn't see a step by step so I don't know.
If I re-install Miui will solve this?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...ui-stock-reinstall-redmi-note-8-pro-t4004391*
Or there is another way?
Could anyone help?
Sadly as far as I am aware you need to either already have access to the xiaomi account to remove the device, or input the password on the device to unlock it. For security purposes clearly.

Indeed clearly is for security reason (stolen phone? sounds like a fishy story).
But is not it possible to recover via email? Because if I remember correctly we also had to provide an email upon Mi Account creation. I am not sure because I never had to recover yet, but is not a link sent to attached email to reset account password?
If the guy neither have original number, password or email, that's smells way more than fishy to me
