Hi all !
Sorry to bother you with this a bit offtopic.
We have a big problem with our Ascend G510 & Y300 KitKat 4.4.2 (they share the same source so this is why I post them together).
Months ago, we lost our only developer on the Modaco forums and nobody is taking care of our phone models now ... we're actually abandoned.
I kindly ask the help of any skilled developer here, if can continue the work or Dazz for us, here on XDA forums of course.
Here is the Modaco link, with sources and everything.
Thank you very much !
Again sorry for my bad english and also for posting this request here, but I didn't find a better place on your forum's section.
Have a great day !
Yes. Please do something

Hello.
I rooted my Y300-100 in 5 minutes following this guide, one month ago. The Huawei site provides instantly the unlock code. You don't have to wait for any e-mail.
Everything works perfect in this link. If you cannot do it, then it's your fault and you should ask a friend to do it for you.
http://huawei-y300.tumblr.com/post/47366836617/how-to-unlock-and-root-huawei-ascend-y300-all
Good luck !
+1 +2 and +3 !!!
Thank you kiodo1981 for informing me about the GPU drivers ... I didn't know about this issue.
I asked Huawei for an updated driver but I didn't have any reply yet ... waiting for now. If not, we need to find a method to update them for KitKat ourselves ... If anybody knows a good place to start learning how to do it, I'm willing to try. I enjoy programming and maybe I can help.
Thanks again !
Bump
wait so those phones and our p6 shares source?
I guess so ... I'm not an expert in this ... not even understanding everything about this tech ... sorry

Hi!
Please take a look here , as you can see there is a common CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, along with GPU Adreno 203 !
In conclusion these two devices have in common only the name of Huawei
I know that @Dazzozo is a great developer, but also was strongly supported by donors - what cannot be said in our case !
Anyway hope that a good developer who owns this device to continue the work begun (otherwise very good) of @Dazzozo.

It would be nice if some developer can continue the work that Dazzozo did.
We have lots of roms and sources. Thanks to Dazzozo we can use kitkat roms (stable, but with a few problems).
Many people who owns a Y300 or G510 can make donations for buying a y300 phone for a developer who wants to work for our phone and contiune the work that Dazzozo made.

Hi, HAM devs!
You propably don't know me yet, as i am new to the HAM. I already built CM7, 10 and 11 on LG devices though, so i am not totally new to android development/building.
Well.. i just got this Ascend Mate, and thought it would be nice to have a custom rom on it, like i had on other devices.
But all i can find is closed source flashables. Seems like joe.stone is the only one who shared atleast something.
Don't you guys think we could achieve more, if we work together?
I really want to work on custom stuff for our HAM, but it would be easier if i don't have to start from scratch, while a bunch of people COULD share their experiences with me.
So please contact me, if you can provide some useful informations on how to build for the HAM. - Let's do something!

Dont hold your breath mate, in my opinion This is one of the worst forums on xda !
Well, maybe i just start instead of flaming.
Here we go: https://github.com/hwmt1-u06
If anybody is interested in participating to this, just let me know.
I think the main reason for that is that most of the stuff here was developed in Russia or China and those of us here just basically searched online and found ROMs and posted links here.
Joe Stone was the main Dev here and he's moved on. Gold Concert did some good work here too and moved on. Outside of these guys I think the rest of people in the group are like me. We know a little about developing but we're not Devs so as a result the forum has pretty much died.
I would welcome your developing skills here right now:beer:

yeah, i kinda figured that out already, my first post was a little bit fast maybe.
well, let's see what i can do... so far i can boot, but sound and reboots arent working well (maybe more).
currently trying to contact mrAlmid, and looking into his roms for a hint to the right direction.
Just a thought. Since huawei mate and huawei p6 are essentially same hardware (same motherboard, same cpu/gpu) with main difference in display, maybe some of the sources for p6 will come in handy?

Once a Finnish developer tried porting sailfish to the P6, he (or someone he forked from) had managed to collect almost all the sources for the P6. You can try tinkering around, if you have time, you could figure out how to build the needed libraries for the graphics stack from source (all the other devs jumped the boat already), if you succeed then we may have a chance of compiling a working Lollipop rom. For the mate, dont forget to change the touchscreen drivers as it differs on the P6 and the Mate. Heres the repo: https://github.com/locusf/cm11-p6

a working lollipop rom? i dont feel like beeing THAT professional, to be honest. but i will check if i can use something for more stability on kk. thanks for the information, though! maybe i can find something to fix "reboot to recovery"-freeze
I got my current rom (carbon rom 4.4.4) from this website:
http://mateone4you.blogspot.nl/2015/04/carbon-rom-444-for-huawei-ascend-mate.html
He has a few more too.
Edit: I guess you know, reading your CM thread, but some may not....
Would welcome some more development, especially bluetooth connecting to audio is horrible...
I tried his other roms too, only got carbon working nicely.

yeah, that's Alex Midnight (mrAlmid), i used some huawei binaries off his roms already.
i will see what i can do about bluetooth a2dp, dont have to much hope though, that a2dp stuff was a hell on LG's p990 already.
I want to buy a fone. Any suggestions how much time to recieve custom roms....
dont ask for ETA, I also ordered one Honor 7x too
When a phone is brand new with absolutely NO Roms out yet I'm pretty sure the whole "Don't ask for ETAs" rule doesn't count. Relax. Please be honest with yourself.
This device will only do good (For some people) if it gains dev support. Kirin is closed source from what I understand so development sucks when compared to Honor/Huawei devices with SD chips so inquiring minds will want to know.
I'm ready for an upgrade from my Honor 5X myself but can't pull trigger due to lack of support for 6X or 7X. Honor is good about updates but I need more control over my device (Root, hotspot, and Roms) past the 2 year update standard. I would go to xaiomi redmi unlocked but their US device lacks 1 of the LTE bands I need on AT&T.
Plus I actually really love my Honor 5x device and respect the company for their attempts to make affordable higher end device and come to XDA with so much support on launch of company. I won't for get that but I still need a device soon.

I mean, there's OpenKirin, not sure about this being closed source with kernel sources already released. It depends on which skilled dev feels like picking up this device.

I can confirm that this device is going to be officially supported by OpenKirin as soon as we can get a stable rom running on it.

Also since we have a mtk soc will there be any update after a year for miui/android? They usually don't do that mtk devices..

If that's true then how are people finding it difficult to buy it still?
XDA has sent RN8pro devices to many developers. Have patience and development will happen. Sources are also released already.

I don't understand this.
If you get in first try, it's a problem.
If you don't get in first try, it's a problem. Xiaomi is bad, they use this trick and so many complains.
If you getting in first try is equal to bad sales then you are outstanding analyst. ??
Is there anyone who knows that when complete kernel source will get released.
And when will get a custom rom our device.

Care to share which ROM you're in the dev team of? I'm sorry but the one thing being a member of XDA for close to 8 years had taught me is that some people like to lie about being a developer. It's such an inconvenience to other members that want to experience something positive.

Hi everyone,
Is there any chance the custom ROM scene will take up this device? As far as I know it is a pretty solid and budget friendly device that I figured would get custom ROM support quite fast but so far I haven't been able to find any.
If there are teams working on it, can someone link me some more info?

Eventually. Most devices that have loads of Roms and Kernels are most popular and have Android devs who work on them. I'm kinda in the same boat. I have A71 Samsung and there are very few Roms
Still hoping...
Great device at a most reasonable price. I don't know how to develop my own custom rom, but certainly hope somebody else will...

I really hope so too. The affordable price and quite decent specs seem to make it well suited for it. But of course it all comes down to popularity too. So far I have really been loving it (aside from the always on display being WAY too sensitive to movement of my phone) and am planning to use it for a very long time. Just like the good old Motorola Razr and Krzr phones haha.

I am hearing a lot of positovity about it indeed but somehow I am really struggling with getting the bootloader unlocked etc using a chromebook.. will just wait for a decent guide I guess.
The rom is marked "unofficial". Is this safe to use? Also do I use weekly or microg? Thanks for any guidance.
