Was this after a recent update? If so, go back to an earlier version. It could just be a glitch with a nightly if you're doing that. If you haven't been updating recently then.....
Check the kernel governor. See if it's set to peformance or lagfree or something like that.
If that isn't it, check battery stats to see what is consuming the most power. Use a 3rd party app like Better Battery Stats instead of the one that comes with Android. See if something is always on. You could have a wakelock that's killing you. If you do, ditch that app and see if it improves.
If that doesn't help, reinstall the rom. Dirty flash over the one you have. See if that fixes it.
If that fails, do a clean install of the rom and add your apps back 1 by 1 until the problem is triggered. Then you'l lknow what's causing it.

Problem solved, it was my SD-Card 16GB. Without SD it is all OK again

No SD card support with paranoid Rom?

Does any one else's a100 become super laggy after a few minutes of being on.. I am running the latest flex reaper I even overclock it all the way but I get this huge lag after the first few minutes of being on.. anyone else experience this or have a fix for this?

I do not experience this issue. When you flashed the rom, did you do a clean install? Have you formatting the device?
Yup.. I format everything.. I use the touch recovery and just use every option that it provides and wipe everything.. It even does it when there is nothing installed. I usually delete almost all the useless system apps that I don't use like the google music app and all of the ones civato provides... I even change the animation settings to .5 in the developer section.. should I turn them off all together?

The animations should not have anything to do with it. Does this only occur on that rom? Have you tried other roms and experienced that issue?
not many other roms out there.. I have used stock and his.. had the same issue on both.. Also happens on my brother's a500.. it usually happens when unlocking and going into any app.. it sits there for a few seconds and then opens whatever it is i opened

This is starting to sound like a hardware issue. Before that is concluded, you could:
- Make sure the governor is not set to "conservative"
- Try a clean install of CM9
If the problem still arises, its most likely a hardware issue.
I'm using the OC kernel and have it to 1500.. I also always leave it on performance.. I figure it would kill my battery life but I don't use it much.. and i tried cm9 also.. too many issues as of right now

It doesn't seem it can be anything else but a hardware issue in that case.
NB. Overclocking to a high frequency can cause instability and bring about that issue (but since you experienced it on the stock rom, its quite likely not to be that).
the overclocking helps to speed it up a tad bit.. for the most part it just lags.. i did a clean install just now
Thought I would jump in. Stock ics would slow down and lag on me, jittery transitions poor performance in games or movies, but it took an hour not a few minutes. However testing the T20 kernel before the release kernel had that exact issue, bogging and lagging within minutes.
His release kernel doesnt do it, and flex extreme as well as my cm9 builds don't, even with T20 kernel. Consider flashing that kernel to see what happens.
Side note...what issues did you have with cm9? And what release? My build 1 has been running for 3 days no reboots stable as can be undervolted and OC when needed. Something to maybe think to try to see if it persists. T20 kernel works fine with it too.

Yup, EVERYTIME I turned on my screen then unlocked it to laggggggg for a lil while. I'm now using CM9 n that issues gone. Try CM9

That reminds me...setting a screen off profile with the same min/Max speed can cause issues with that, give Max a notch or two higher. And don't have it change the governor leave it the same. So like interactive screen on Myst nit be conservative screen off, doesn't work that way.

I had the same issue on stock. I noticed there are 2 weather applications installed (version 1 and version 2) immediately after I disabled the old weather application (version 1) this stopped happening. I used the ICS GUI to do the disable.
This might not be the case in custom rom, but is true for stock. Post reply and let me know if this fixed it for you also.

Do you have a micro SD card plugged in? Try reformatting the card with a computer. Worked for me.

I felt the need to add my two cents in this....this has been happening to me for the longest with the flex reaper rom ONLY. I've used stock and ZN's rom and those did not lag after unlock...only flex reaper. I'm currently using flex reaper and still experience it from time to time but doesn't destroy my day at all...
Give the CM9 nightly ROM's a go. No Bluetooth n no HDMI audio, but everything else is fine n damn smooth. Those issues will be fixed though

I installed Flex 100 Reaper with stock and it it seemed to run smooth enough. Then I installed the OC kernal, and started to get lag. I was looking around to find the OC settings, but can't see it anywhere in settings..
Can anyone direct me to where can I adjust the governor/max/min CPU settings?
Sorry for the noob question.

[Q] CPU throttleed--why? and..best CPU utilization monitor?

I'm running Albinoman's JB RC3 ROM, and like it a lot. The only significant problem I have is occasional severe sluggishness. When it happens, I'll open IntelliControl and I notice either of two things going on:
1) I'll see that the max CPU speed has been reset to 664000 or something close to that (it's always the same number, but I don't remember exactly what it is...600-something). Once I crank the max limit back up to 1036800, things are good again. What keeps resetting the CPU limit to such a low level, and how do I stop it from doing that???
2) I'll see that the CPU is maxed out at 1036800, but I can't figure out what's chewing up the CPU. What tool can I use to see what process is consuming all the CPU cycles when that happens?
Thanks for the help...
1. I can't tell you why it happens... but I know it is a common problem on the JB ROMs (on the Dinc). There was quite a lot of discussion about it. I know the devs are aware of the issue and were working on it.
2. I don't know of anything that will graph percentage of cpu cycles, or anything exactly like that. But try hooking the phone up to the PC and run ddms (part of the adb tool set) and see what it is doing (or failing to do). While ddms is running in verbose mode it will give you a running output of everything the phone is doing (along with all the errors and warnings).

That's because he's using an older version of Evervolv's qsd8k-common. It was fixed on Oct 10 with Change I3a0fff83: powerHAL: fix the screen off bug. This is one of the reasons I do nightlys, is to get all the new tweaks. This bug won't be fixed in his ROM till he resyncs his source and recompiles. It's triggered by the screen turning off. There's a workaround with Tasker, but since this bug is no longer in my ROM, I quit looking at it.

For #1, a possible fix could be to use this power.qsd8k.so provided by tiny4579:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32552961&postcount=264
Replacing this file fixed the issue on Pons's ROM, but it may wreak havoc on Albinoman's, I have no way to know. Make sure you have a good nandroid backup before attempting to use it. Or, just wait for Albinoman to release a newer ROM with the problem fixed in the source.

It should work fine on Albinoman's ROM. powerHAL is a generic jellybean feature and should work on all JB ROM's. You won't need the fix however on either of Pon's ROMs whether AOKP or CM10.
I'm finding the same issue on the 11/08 build. I replaced the file with the one you uploaded, yet no change. Still reverts to 614 when the screen is off.
I'm managing it with both Incredicontrol and Juicedefender, so on wake it returns to 1075, and the SAv2 seems much smoother than interactive for me. If there's a fix in the newer builds I may flash one (if I get the time), but for now I'm really impressed by how well this one is running.
Thanks,

It's supposed to change to 614 on screen off. The bug was that it would stick at 614 even on screen on.
I don't recommend that lib for cm. It's outdated.
Also I don't use sav2 anymore as it doesn't and won't implement project butter. Also interactive can be more aggressive than sav2 as it can jump frequency on touch via boostpulse which sav2 doesn't have.

Oh, well, then I guess I'll give the interactive another try. Maybe just needs to settle in longer. Got so used to ICS, wasn't sure what to expect from JB. Guess it's time I read back a few pages and see what else I've missed.

Yep, just a tad bit off topic.
I haven't had this problem before. Granted, I've never played music off my Inc, but I haven't heard anyone else complain, either. Can you PM a logcat? And it's always preferable to report errors off latest versions (currently 1120).

Try flashing to his newest build. It fixed a few problems for me and is incredibly fast. I had to reflash gapps from goo.im though because play store was force closing. Also, doubletwist is a better music player imo because it has a better interface and has good integration with the lockscreen.

[Q] Random reboots even after Pristine

I've been helping with minor problems in the Q&A section for some time, but now I face my own problem.
After softbricking my phone 3 days ago(probably from too many tweaks crashing in the init.d folder) I re-pristined my phone, and I'll list what is its specs below after recovery.
ROM: CM9RC2
Kernel: I tried all available from HADI and CastagnalT(except CFS)
Mod: Disable CPU Render, Seeder V5, KSM, 16 bit Transparency, Force GPU render, Disabled surface dither.
Probably the standard package in CM9RC2, but thing is it random reboots(mostly from wakes after locking). Once I was watching a movie, specifically the movie is in MKV format using MX player, it rebooted instantly too, after its back to launcher its fine until I finished the movie and locked phone, then when I wake it, it freeze reboot again.
Any ideas people?
possible problems/solutions:
1- maybe it is a problem with the battery, check if it gets fat when charging. if yes then go buy a new one
2- usually battery problems end up with force shutdown, so my secound thought is that it is a problem with the add-ons. try going pristine and sticking to the stock cm9 kernel with no add-ons and see if it still reboots
3- if the above didn't work then maybe it is a hardware problem
i hope i helped

I have a strong feeling its Seeder v5 behind this. The original Seeder gave me no issues.
The battery should be fine. I check it once in awhile anyway.

My battery life is fine though. If its swollen a significant effect would be drastically bad battery life. I learnt this while studying about lithium-ion batteries and experience when I'm working in a camera shop

[Q] Lollipop, The Aggressive App Killer

Does this even need an explanation? Lollipop kills apps like it's his hobby.
Even with only a few light (on RAM) user apps running in the background you sometimes find yourself staring at your launcher home screen that, you could've sworn, was just showing a different app a second ago.
Or the times when, after multi-tasking a bit, your phone starts becoming painfully slow. Turns out that some apps are so stubborn that they go on strike (continuously restarting) when LP kills them.
I'm sure many have experienced this. And I have seen some devs address this issue here and there. I though it would be useful to gather the info into one thread, to ease our (or my?) frustration on this issue.
What I wanna know is, what causes it exactly (why didn't it happen on KK?), and is there a solution to this? Or at some way to calm LP down a bit with his killing of innocent apps.
Thanks.

I just uncheck those two settings and reboot and all is well, but my phone certainly works much better now, and no redraws, with neph settings for LMK

Perhaps you can noobify that a bit, lol. I had to google almost everything you mentioned. As I understand it, this Synapse allows you to tweak the kernel? And this KSM settings can improve this RAM issue? Care to elaborate? And what is laptop mode?
I've read about adjusting the LMK values to calm LP down a little. Any idea though why this was so necessary in LP, but not in KK? Is stock LP 'naturally' more RAM hungry than KK?

I can try to elaborate little bit, as Ive been flashing things and researching xda a lot, but I am still noob in how/why things are the way they are. From what I gather lollipop just handles memory differently then kk did. I think that is some of the reason as to why the "recent apps" persist through reboots now. Remember, our device was not really supposed to run kk and certainly not meant to run lollipop. The developers here are without a doubt amazing in what they know and what they do for us users. A new kernel and driver was necessary to run lollipop on the aging gnex. Now, some of the issues we are experiencing is a google issue and will only seem to get fixed when they get around to it. I know my nexus 7 (old) has some memory issues and lag and redraws from time to time....not as much as I noticed with my gnex before the changes were made I stated in the above post. I recently helped my friend root and upgrade his oneplus one to lollipop and he has the same issues we all have, maybe not as bad, but they are noticeable
A lot of the questions you have, have been discussed recently in bsmitty83 kernel thread, since I asked them. There are links there as to what KSM and laptop mode are and what they do. KSM-kernel same page merging helps with RAM and I believe laptop mode helps to conserve power. A lot of these things are geared at devices with low ram like the aging gnex, but the developers have done a great job at making lollipop a daily driver. Most users I think use trickstermod from playstore to tune kernel settings, and that is ok, however, you must purchase the paid version to tweak low memory settings, which I did. However, synapse, also found on playstore can also be used to tweak kernel settings, but the kernel has to contain UCI support for the synapse app to work. Synapse has more settings available to tweak than trickster does, like KSM and laptop mode, which have helped me very much. The only kernel I'm aware of that has UCI support for synapse is bsmitty83 Full_Auto R10, because osmosis made it work
Hopefully this was rather accurate and helpful and not convoluted! ha.....im sure some more knowledgeable people will come and correct anything I said that may be incorrect, but in the meantime, read through the R10 kernel thread and see what you come up with
What ROM and kernel are you currently using?
Thank you

I'm currently using AOSP rom (by freshgimmi) and the Full Auto R10 you mentioned. I'll try injecting the new ramdisk now and see how it goes.
I noticed this issue as well for the first several days . However once I installed the new bootanimation from arter97 the issue doesn't occur anymore. Not sure if it's related but all I did was mount /system as rw and copied into the new lollipop boot animation from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/arm-arm64-android-5-0-lollipop-t3032247

Thanks.

I know about this issue. It is a memory leak during boot. It is a good catch, though all you're changing is the bootanimation.zip. AFAIK, it should not affect your system's performance after boot, once your phone is up and running. My issue is a different thing entirely. I never got bootloops (that is, when not messing around with xposed).
Okay, you're right. As a test last night I switched from FML 5.0.2 to LiquidSmooth's LP ROM and I'm not seeing any aggressive app kills in LiquidSmooth.

Im running 1/8 FML with synapse injected R10 kernel on my toro and with ksm and laptop mode enabled in synapse, I haven't had a launcher redraw in days. I don't have anything whitelisted either. However, the trade-off I have at the moment is I cant seem to stream videos on my stock browser. Havent tried a different browser or anything. I just uncheck those two settings and reboot and all is well, but my phone certainly works much better now, and no redraws, with neph settings for LMK
Hope something helps someone!
Thanks

I have got synapse up and running. I AM wondering though, what LMK settings are you using? Cause the neph settings I know of tell me to set empty app to 370, but synapse only allows max 320... If you're following different settings, could you link the post for me?

Glad you got everything up and running.....Im using Neph's settings for LMK, and your correct the empty app only goes up to 320 in synapse. There was a post somewhere where Neph said he was still tweaking his LMK values and I believe he mentioned about lower empty app to 330 or something, so I just set it to 320 in synapse and call it a day

how long does your battery last?

Hello there guys, I've started to use this phone a week or so, and I tried a bunch of different ROMs and finally I have settled with Dot Os since is the one that worked flawlessly for me, but here's my question
How long does your battery last?
I've seen older posts complaining about this phone battery. But I wanted to check with you guys that have been using this phone with custom ROMs.
My battery last very poorly, most days I need to recharge from 2 to 3 times in the same day, I don't play games, but my screen time is long I suppose, I use it a lot to look up things in the browser or to read posts on reddit mostly.
Since this is a second hand phone I thought it could be that the battery had run its course and that it was time for a replacement, but even with a new battery the performance still far from desirable.
It's very hard to compare, because it depends a lot on your ROM, kernel, adjustments and usage !
On my side I bought the phone (a6020a46) more than a year ago, and I use it for my work with Bluetooth for the headset, but I don't use much games or browser, so it lasts around 24 hours...
Really the developers have stopped thinking about the battery life, custom roms are more focused on performance and smoothness now a days. I am watching temperature of my cpu its always above 42 C even on using whatsapp it gets heated. I was searching for Kernal with hotplug like stock kernel but didnt found. All CPU cores are working Tirelessly consuming tons of battery. I wonder whether no developer can develop a battery saving kernel with better management of cores like stock kernel developed in 2016.
It could be the ROM, but since I'm not sure what to expect from this phone in trying to first figure it out if my battery is in fact OK, so you guys recommend any app or method for that, I'm using Accubaterry and according to it my battery health is fine, but even though it can't last a whole day on the other hand I can't complain about performance, it really is fast and just works (DotOS)
Edit : yeah I think that the main source of battery drain might be the ROM itself, I've been lookin at kernel adiutor and by default all cores are always on with the minimum frequency of 960 MHz

Only kernel with hotplug turning the cores off by default I've found is the one that comes with AEX 5.7 by Harry.
See this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k5-plus/development/rom-aospextended-v5-0-t3688595/post77036466
Also he added a core control to manage hotplug values.
You don't like (for whatever reason) cores being offlined all the time? Ok, go to core control and set the properly value to switch all the cores on as you like.
If you want low battery consumption, I would suggest to stay on Nougat, it's not a troll it's a fact

Honestly I don't really care if it's nougat, oreo or whatever, I'm just looking for a stable release to use as a daily driver for a while since I can't keep flashing a new ROM every day
@shubhgoan, @ghst7 here's offlining hotplug working properly on Oreo AOKP, by using Dragon Elite v1.4 kernel.
As many others custom ROMs, no way to hotplug the cores without using a custom kernel wich support that feature.
I'll be testing how much the battery lasts now.
@walterfuster let me know how it's goes, BTW can you tell me where did you find DE kernel v1.4? On the Dev section I have found only version 1.2
In the meantime I'm using AOSPEX and although the hot plug behavior is not that aggressive, it works and I already have noticed an improvement in my battery life

I am using Dragon Elite on RR oreo now i switched to Aokp with DE 1.4. But i Didnt see any hotpluging or thunderplug. Please give the Details of how you flashed and which exact rom with all changes you did.

you'll find in page 8 from the same thread:

which was the last update this kernel had.

STEPS:
flash DE kernel doing the cache/dalvick wipes previously.
install this app:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329056791
(similar to KA)
open it and goto CPU Hotplug->Hotplug Style and select "Per-Core-Hotplug".
That's it.
Now check with CPU info overlay cores automatically being turned on/off according to needing.
@shubhgoan I corrected the link. Sorry for that bro.

@ghst7 Just reporting the results running DE as you requested me some posts ago.
What do you think? It's real. I promise.

Thanks I will try it myself with DotOS and see how it goes, AOSPEX also worked pretty well for my battery, it got to last a full day worth of work.

Hey I looked it up but couldn't find relevant info about this, can you explain it what exactly does this option do?

yes, it makes hotplug work, turning the cores off and on independently, depending on the cpu load.
I'm in stock rom, thinking about changing to aospex, i'm just done with 2 hours of battery from the stock rom, but I've never made any custom rom stuff... So, what's the best battery life/performance rom out there?

You will have to flash ROMs and find the one that works for you, from my experience AOSPEx, Dot Os and AOKP are all pretty good, if you wish to improve your battery life you can also flash DE kernel

Hey @walterfuster sorry to bother you again, but can you answer one last question for me, are you using an external SD card? And if so is your SD card formatted in what extension, fat32 or exfat?
I'm asking because I'm using a 64gb SD card formated as Exfat, and every time after I flash DE kernel I lose access to it, I mean the system still recognize my SD card but when I navigate to it, it shows no files, they are still there I just can't access them, I just want to be sure before I have to make a huge backup to format my SD card as fat32, I'm on AEX 5.7 btw

Hi guy, oh, I don't use an external SD card, so, I can't check anything for you.
BTW, I've also tried PB2 kernel with AOKP (completely compatible), and no chance to hotplug. It's a shame, man. because it's a great kernel: no random reboots like DE 1.4, and also has overclocking!
So, only way to get hotplug on any custom Oreo is by flashing DE v1.4, AFAIK.
I also attempted a crazy thing wich was replacing AOKP boot, with the one from AOSPEX, in order to run AOKP with AOSPEX kernel, to finally get hotlugging, but, guess what: DIDN'T work. Just got an endless unicorn boot logo
