I have working on a project in the form of an app, which guides you through the installation of Ubuntu within android via chroot. It includes a ubuntu 10.10 image I have been working on which includes lots of program to allow users to develop program/scripts etc within Ubuntu on there phone/tablet.
However I have I have yet to get much testing on this device and would like more feedback from users!
Please post your device/kernel/rom along with what did and didn't work, so I can draw up what I need to change in the next release of the app/ubuntu build.

ubuntu.sh(V5)
Full Image
This image is 1.5GB to download, once extracted 3.5GB, and include alot of programs like openoffice, thunderbird, firefox and over programs for 'developing' - Also allows you to switch between the LXDE and Gnome desktops, and you can define screen size on boot!
ubuntuV5-image.zip
Lightweight Image - This is yet to be included in an app, will be included in the next release (aka 2.0 ), so get it now before anyone else!
This image is just under 500MB to download, once extracted 2.5GB, and include only programs needed (LXDE desktop, web browser, + other basic programs) also allows you to define screen size on boot
ubuntuV5-sm-image.zip
12.04 images
I have now started work on building new 12.04 images these come in core (just the bear-bones ubuntu) and full (ubuntu with GUI and other programs) and will be updated as 12.04 moves through its milestones (and when I make new updates to the mods I make from the main stream arm port).
These are for testing ONLY until 12.04 reaches stable release.
You can view the images here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxonandroid/files/Ubuntu/12.04/
I also want to build up a small group of testers who I can email with new images and scripts, these will include all future distros that I do. If you are interested in joining this test group please PM me or send a email to [email protected]
The only requirement is that your willing to test and send feedback along with screen shoots etc where required, it would also be good if your willing to try different roms and kernels for your device!

Thank you, there are two possible reasons for this error, either you do not have usb debugging enabled, or your kernel does not support loop devices properly. In which case you should try a different kernel or contact the dev and ask if he can fix it

Actually doest mean either of those. That is the error I get after successfully getting into Ubuntu, and doing an update. Once I reconnect after updating I get the same result as that picture. Once I download the original image again, it works fine.

Ubuntu Installer Paid 2.0 Cooked and ready to be tasted
Well tasted by my beta testers anyway...but yes 2.0 for the Paid app is ready! so long as there are no more bugs the new update will be loaded to the market tomorrow.
Note that once the new update is on-line the sale will end, so if you have not already grap your paid copy for 20%!!
The change log for the new version is:
*New V5 small image, featuring fixed Java, even more lightweight (now around 1.2GB free) and user can set screen size on boot
*PAID New Build guide which shows you how to build your own Ubuntu images
*Brand new UI To make the whole thing more useable
*PAID new 'one click boot' feature to allow quick booting from either the widget or inside the app
*PAID new widget to activate the one click boot
*PAID app install guide changed in light of 'one click boot'
*Fixed keyboard mapping of random letters in Gnome
The free version should then be updated by the end of next week and will include the new UI and the new V5 small image and Gnome mapping fix.
Backtrack will then be updated shortly after that to include pretty much everything in the change log above (apart from the small image, there is still no small image for backtrack)

Well when you run the update app it informed you that Ubuntu 11. Something is available. If you go ahead with it, it takes about 4 hours and asks for a reboot. After that I get the error in the posted pic. And I also tried just updating the packages and got the same result. Each time having to replace the Ubuntu.img to get back in. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but that's what happens. I don't think it has anything to do with your work.
Btw I paid for your app and love how easy you made this. But updates aren't working for me.

Yes if you try to upgrade to a new version of Ubuntu it does kill it, somethign to do with changes in the ARM port files that Ubuntu made, braking it for the omap4 builds (what I used to get it on our devices).
If you use 'apt-get update' and then 'apt-get upgrade' in the terminal you should beable to update the packages without it braking the image.
And thank you very much for paying tomorrow the process gets just a little easier with 2.0
Sounds good. Keep up the good work!

If you click the link in my sig it is a separate project which is already done, I plan to update it to 2.0 hopefuly in the coming week, you can download the prebuilt ARM backtrack image from the backtrack site, but of course it will not have my boot scripts (its uses a much more basic boot script designed for the xoom but it does kind of work on other deivces) or my 'one click boot'
I'm looking for the Android 4.4.2 Clock app source code to modify in Android Studio.
Is that possible to find?
I don't need to replace the clock app or to change the whole Android 4.4.2 OS. But I would like to use the built in Clock application (source code) to make another application with just a few modifications.
I saw a clock application on the Google Play store that said it was the stock clock with modifications. That's where I got the idea that finding the Google source code for its Clock application might be possible. Ideally it would be a project file ready to use in Android Studio.
Thanks.
Is this it?

Thank you. Will I be able to run any of that in Android Studio (0.8.9)?
I am able to run the Android Studio included samples, but no luck running samples that were not included with Android Studio. Like the samples on this page...

Currently, I'm going to try the method on this page...

Thanks.
Run? you can compile any source code in Android Studio, whether it will run or not depends on which SDK you select and what target platform you use assuming you don't induce errors with mods.

When I say "Run", I'm talking about the little arrow in the Android Studio toolbar that says "Run".
I am able to run samples in Android Studio. The built-in applications were easy. The Android samples from this page were problematic.
http://developer.android.com/samples/index.html
Now I can run those Android samples too, thanks to this useful page.
https://github.com/gdg-hudson-valley/android-samples
Everything functions properly with the samples in Windows, the applications run on my USB-connected Android tablet.
So I looked at the webpage you provided.
http://source.android.com/source/downloading.html
There, it says that Linux (or a virtual machine in Windows) is necessary. So I installed Linux and then Java and then Android Studio. I didn't download the whole source code like on that page, but I imported (previously downloaded through Git in Windows) the Deskclock source code and ran it. Instead of 63 errors, it produced 67 errors.
I have installed every single SDK, in fact every single checkbox in the SDK Manager. Everything was there. Seems to me like its a problem with IDE configuration files. But I know it can be done. That's how ROM makers produce their ROMs.
I got the Deskclock application from this Android source repository page.
https://android.googlesource.com/?format=HTML
Must I use Linux as described on that page you provided to download the source described there in order to make any of the stock applications run in Android Studio? If so, I will get back into Linux and try that way.
Thanks.
No you don;t need Linux, you can download the source code in pieces rather than use GTHUB.
JUst Google "android clock example" you will find dozens of example apps and source code

I appreciate your attempts to help, but you should know by now that I'm putting much effort into doing this. It is apparently not a trivial thing.
When one "Googles" the term "android clock example" it produces a grand total of five results that are mostly off-topic.
Droidkit OnePlus One Windows
Hey guys iTechy21 here and I am glad to announce I have a NEW project I'm working on to make an open source toolkit made from c# to allow easy development for other devices. This project will aim to support as many devices as possible with different toolkits for different devices therefore unifying the experience between them.
This will also be 100% open source when fully complete and is released under the GPLV3 licence (apart from the stuff I did not develop e.g. Custom Recoveries, root.zip, adb / fastboot and stock software all rights go to their respective owners).
Features
Support for any android version and Rom
Full Backup and Restore of apps + data (Nandroid is in the works...)
Unlock / Lock your bootloader (removed locking due to possible issues)
Flash a custom recovery (all supported including stock)
Shows attached device(s) in status bar
Advanced CMD mode for power users - type any ADB Command you want!(Will be reimplemented!)
Booting the device into and out of fastboot with a button click
Flash back to stock (Lollipop!) and keeps your bootloader unlocked
To come
Flash 100% stock DONE!
Save backups with custom names DONE!
Install APK's through ADB DONE!
Flash zip via recovery commands DONE!
Improve UI to make it look cleaner...
Backup the EFS Partition (will be coming Soon) DONE!
Log screen to help amateurs with adb learn (and also output errors to be more verbose) Abandoned due to too many issues
Ability to change colour theme from light to dark and the colours (coming Soon™)
Improve OTA system (continuous)
I am accepting requests if they are not too obscure to find out (even better if you find a way to do it as it cuts down on my research time which I don't have a lot of )
Legal
This is an unofficial toolkit made by an independent developer who has no association with oneplus apart from the fact that he owns a 64gb Sandstone black phone. I cannot be held responsible for anything that may happen to your phone! Even if it is just exploding, catching fire or just voiding the warranty.
Changelog
Material 0.0.1.5 ) - Major Milestone! - Untested Oxygen OS flashing. Do-so at your own risk! (Might not work not fully tested)
Improved theming
Updates to internal .dll's
Stability improvements
UI Tweaks
More verbosity via dialogue messages
System requirementsTo run this needs an x86 or x64 based system (Not supported on Windows RT)
And version 4.5 of the .NET framework (which is installed upon install if missing (needs testing!) and requires Windows 7 or Higher (sorry XP users )
DownloadsNo Download as no longer maintained and buggyQR for nerds

FAQ
Q: How do I do X?
A: You click the button corresponding to the action
Q: How do I flash to stock and then unlock the bootloader?
A:
You put your device into fastboot mode.
Once done select your device model (16Gb or 64Gb) and then click flash to stock.
The Bootloader should stay unlocked after the flashing process...
Q: What Roms do this ToolKit support?
A: Any android based ROM with the ADB Debugging interface!
Q: Help it's not working!
A: Try 3 things.
Re-installing the toolkit to re-install the drivers
Enable ADB in the developer settings (tap on build number (in about phone) x times until you get a toast notification)
Update the ToolKit
I found a Bug!
Great and thanks for finding one! I can now hopefully track it down and fix it if you provide the following:
The Computer's OS
What you were doing
How you can reproduce this
Your device
The code from the message that appeared
This will help me track down and hopefully fix the error. And once open sourced these can be reported via GitHub!
Please be aware that messages that just say "HELP" or "IT CRASHED" will be ignored as they don't help...

I knew that would be an issue. That's due to the fact it includes all the stock files for CM11S. However I will make it possible by downloading it within the app unzipping it and then flashing the device. But I'm fairly novice at c# and I don't have a lot of time to develop at this moment in time...

Thank you I'll finally get noticed for something XD
... It works great but the size is a big deal.
Also, i suggest that ... you show what version of recovery you will flash - TWRP ( is generic and the filename does not gives you clue, the same for the others )
Also, for the Stock firmware ( wich version is it ?! )
SuperSU is not updated ... you could improve and use the last stable from chainfire
all the other things looks great so far.

Thanks for the feedback. I may improve that make to another form with information on the specific versions (along with a built in download tool). Along with updating the SuperSU.zip
The first thing I'll do is work on that once all the basic features are there. But generally its the latest version of TWRP that is stable along with the other recoveries...
As for the stock I think the one I included was 44s but it may be 5Q (ew). Ill be implementing a downloader for the stock images to download whatever the latest version is from cyanogen...

I'll see what I can do but the size will be reduced in the next update as it will remove the stock zip and replace it with a downloader which will download the stock images and then flash them reducing the size massively... (but I use Gdrive as its easy to find the download link unlike with Dev-host...)
I can´t flash twrp with this toolikt any one have a clue?
Do you have the adb drivers installed? Or is it throwing an error?
Updated to fix issues, add ota support, install APK's and improve performance

EDIT: I can't read. Sorry.
dont worry about it
we always have moments... Its almost ready but I don't have a lot of time to develop so it may take me a while to get everything in there....
Just improving the ota updater now as its throwing exceptions...

If anyone has this file, send it to me and I can host it on one of the servers I rent. If we use a Dropbox link, it's going to get so much traffic that the persons account will get suspended.
Windows APIs for retrieving list of apps work very slowly, and also they don't show installed legacy apps (WP8 xap packages). This library solves these issues.
This library includes a built-in caching mechanism; so after the first scan, It'll take only a few seconds to refresh data. Also, this library extracts information about legacy apps by calling a legacy API and then extracting information manually from each app's files.
I'm already using this in the new version of App Data Manage Tool (You can compare the app start speed between version 2.1.0 and 1.5.4)
License: You can use this library in your apps and modify it to fit your needs, as long as you mention the name `AppListManager` and the name of the publisher `Mahdi Ghiasi` with a link to the repository in Github.
GitHub repository link: https://github.com/mghiasi75/AppListManager
Thanks for writing this! I've been considering writing something that would scrape the registry for installed apps, because (as you say) the public APIs are bad. I may just use your library instead. Thank you for open sourcing it!
Library updated with a better way to load legacy apps info, thanks to @gus33000.

I nor anyone else are responsible for anything that happens ...
Unless it gets u the magisk in boot and TWRP with touch.
That's fully expected.

Somebody show PizzaG some love too.
Update: 06/30/2020
The AIO Linux E6 Toolkit now helps u get the unlock device Id for you to enter into Motorola bootloader unlock website, and then uses the key u get in email from Motorola, to unlock bootloader.
Way more convenient than having to do all of the copy paste cut delete crap with fastboot output....
The program does that for u. ( Needs further testing)
Also fixed the images and flash method for linux AIO.
The Linux Tool has several other great options
A reboot menu
A logcat capture tool
Windows and Linux package both now live on our website in the free downloads section as promised.

Enjoy , and please leave feedback both here and in our telegram group.

Note #1:
The unlock bootloader option isn't going to work right, because I forget to make it prompt for device unlock_token
So for now, unlock your bootloader with the instructions available at Moto site.
I'll rewrite that option later on
Option rewritten awaiting uploading incremental update
Adding here a separate package, needs testing but
It works for others on our telegram group
This gets u ready to try any
of pizzaG recovery builds for the Moto E6
Un archive open ,
Make sure adb/fastboot are in path and working.
Unlock boot loader via Moto site.
Boot to bootloader mode
Open this folder and run the .bat file inside.
This is a test package, so it is subject to be removed
from public access without notice
And is not to be redistbuted

Tested this package and everything worked as described. Got root and twrp. First boot may take some time but it works!
I've decided, both tools in this thread will remain free downloads . Tho they may be hosted at our website instead of Google drive later.
We have seen a moderate success with these tools,
And so they shall from here evolve into our final product.
What you see here will be the base for our advanced paid version of our tools.
We will add many more functions and options of course to the finished paid product.
But this base basic fully functional Free version will be here to help all the other poor boys like me !
Cheers

The first one is broken and I have not had the time to update the link for the new one, use the other two posted below for now
Has this been tested on Boost mobile Motorola E6 build PCB29.73-143?
Pretty sure I'm currently on the latest OTA update, and would like to know if this will work for me. Provides bootloader unlock and root if I understand correctly, but does root require booting into recovery every time as previous roots have for this device?
LMAO How many of you PWN'S Downloaded this????? HAHAHAH!!!!!!
Damn PizzaG That's just cold blooded....I like it.
