T-mobile myaccount app keeps Mobile network on - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

Anyone else have this problem. I toggle mobile network off and wifi on but the 4G (or whichever current speed) indicator stays on unless I kill the T-mobile MyAccount app with a task killer. Very repeatable.
I'm not root so can't disable this app, correct?

Don't know about the issue. But you can disable. Go to settings, then applications, swipe to all, then find the T-Mobile app then disable.

That's interesting, I have a problem with mine where it won't load account detail unless I turn wifi OFF. It's not very convenient honestly.

Turning off mobile internet

My wife has a problem with her EVO. Not so much with the EVO itself, but with Sprint service.
Within the building she works, she has terrible reception. Because of this, if she leaves mobile internet enabled, after a 6 hour day, her battery will be at 30%.The battery status says that she spent 60% without signal. I did do the "trick" to change her phone from GSM to CDMA using that diag menu from the dial menu, but again, the issue with her is that when she is deep in her building, she doesn't have any reception.
And of course, if she disables mobile internet before she gets to work, her battery is just fine when she leaves work.
Now, I am aware that you can either hold down the power button and turn it off and/or go into the options and enable it. We use LauncherPro, so we lost the ability to add the HTC sense mobile internet toggle widget.
Here are a few questions:
1. Does the Locale application work on the EVO, and if so, does it allow you to turn on/off mobile internet on a CDMA phone based on your location?
2. Is there a widget for the HTC EVO that lets you turn on/off mobile internet that works if you're not using HTC sense? The few I've found don't appear to work on a CDMA phone, or had reported problems.
just out of curiosity... You can't use the power button because your launcher does not have that feature? ... or you are looking for an automated way?
Does verizon have better coverage there? You could always try using their towers.
Locale does indeed work on the Evo, however it might be because I don't have the specific plugin, but i don't see any parameters to just turn off mobile internet. I think you can alternatively turn on wifi and have it auto connect to wifi at her work if they have it, since having wifi connected turns off mobile internet.
Another alternative is settings profile, which i haven't used myself but from the description it looks like it functions like locale, but also has a widget.
Lastly, when I need to toggle mobile internet, i'm using switchpro widget, which does have a toggle for mobile internet, as well as 4g and a few other options.

Yes. Which is free. I do this all day every day. Where I work, service for both Sprint and Verizon suck. However I usually have one or the other and it will pick whichever one is better. Also, in the metro tunnels (subwway in Washington DC), Verizon has great service so I maintain a connection through them almost the whole way home.
Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks
- Check data roaming
- Uncheck the guards and the sound
- Click Roaming and set it for automatic

Disable annoying desire alerts

I live in a boarder area and i want to choose network manually. I mean manually select the provider, not disable data roaming only. So i did so in the settings menu. The most annoying thing is the allerts, saying that i lost mobile connection which stop anything i do and offer me the list of available providers. It happened 17 times while i typed this message, so you can imagine how annoying it is to press "back" button all the time. Has anybody had this problem? Is there a solution to it?can you disable certain allert types or all of them? Please help my phone coz it's in danger of landing at extrem
ely high speed at my bedroom wall.

Hi, you can go to settings/wireless/ and unthick 'mobile network' and you'll stop getting the nagging screen about the lack of data connectivity if that's the problem
No, it's not only the data. I can choose mobile provider manually, but once the reception dissappears- i start getting those annoying allerts with a list of available networks. And it stops anything u do- just a full screen alert.

[Q] Is there a way to disable data?

I just bought the Defy for my younger sister and was just wondering if there is a way to turn off the data since I only want her on wi-fi. I know there's apps out there like extended control but is there anything I can change in the settings? I did some searching but found nothing on the forum if I missed it can you guys point me the right direction? Thanks a bunch!
When in Europe I use an app called APNdroid from the market. It kills edge & 3G but leaves wifi and voice/text running. If you want to kill EVERYTHING but wifi, hit airplane mode then wifi.
I suppose it depends on your service provider, but if you set up nonsense information in your APN (i.e. it can't find a server) then it won't be able to access 3G data. I've set up 2 APNs on my phone, one to allow and one to turn it 'off'. Works like a charm.
Well, for me, anyhow.
+1 for APN renaming.

Go to market, find this--> APNdroid
Install it & put on desktop.
This will help stop the Defy from using GPRS.
Edmond.
there are dialog in settings that allow to disable all mobile data transfers over gsm/umts networks

Yeah I looked for that too but didn't find it so I'm just using the app. Thanks for all the help!
You can use the app"Droidwall",you can disable 2G,3G, and use only WIFI
You can try a battery saving app called "juicedefender".
The original function of it is turning off data when the screen is off, but you can use its widget to turn off data completely.

Changing to WiFi only Data?

When I installed my ROM, and on first boot I was given an option for when to use data.
Wifi only, or WiFi and Mobile Networks.
Now, I am going on holiday in a week and wanted to switch it to WiFi only to avoid data roaming charges.
Can anyone help, I cannot find it in the settings.
Settings > wireless and networks > mobile network.

Obviously I looked there first. There doesn't seem to be a "WiFi Only" option.
If I just deselect Data Roaming, will that essentially do what I want?
Yes, just turn off mobile network and turn on WiFi.

In the widgets > settings widgets you can choose mobile network and wifi network (as well as gps and bluetooth) screen widgets so you can toggle them on and off.... when not wanting to use mobile data, its good to have those widgets on one of your screens (as the dashboard widgets are usually missing one or another of those 4 essentials)
saves time from going into the settings repeatedly just to turn something on or off.

It is stated in the setting that it enable/disable data packet usage over mobile network. It has absolutely nothing to do with your phone call whatsoever. What makes you think that way?
Just kidding. In extreme cases, to prevent data on moblie network, one uses firewall to block access to any applications that try to access it.

All you need to do is deselect Mobile Network. Even the description says its used to connect to the internet.
a question really easy

[Q] How to disable 3G Connection

Hi,
I'd like to permantently disable 3G data connection. It's not included in my mobile pass. I've switched it off in the settings, but I don't know how, it's turned on again.
So I'm looking for a little application that can disable 3G and check if it's still disable and stay disabled.
Thx for your answer in advance.
Get 3G Watchdog and set an option to disable Mobile Data when more than 1KB has been used.

just go into mobile networks and set up a new apn. call it new, and access point name as new. then save it. then just select it and you will get no mobile data at all as your phone will have nothing to connect to. if you need to get your mobile data again just select the apn your phone was orginally on
