Phone seeing the network but not connecting to it - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've been swapping my sim into a few new devices lately and put it back in the Note 2 earlier. It's seeing the network but won't connect to it. The sim works in the other devices so it must be a problem with this phone. I removed it a few times, toggled airplane mode, and restarted it. Nothing! Any ideas?

"Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network" and "unable to connect, try later" pop up when I try to select my network.

Which carrier's SIM are you using? Which device are you on (SGH-T889, SGH-I317 etc). If not a T889 on Tmo, what method did you use to unlock it?
How long have you had the device? Did you get it new from Tmo/retailer? If not, have you checked the IMEI via the Tmo website?

889 on T-Mobile, still locked, bought on swappa about six months ago.
I found out the problem yesterday; apparently the phone has been blocked! Off to send the swappa folks an email...

Thankfully, the guy I brought it from was able to clear it. Apparently he had purchased it from someone else!

[Q] [HELP] Phone no longer gets signal

Today at 1030AM I sent a MMS and it went thru.
I tried sending a SMS around an hour later and it failed. I did notice that the phone said it was Searching... for signal.
I thought rebooting would help but after reboot... I no longer have signal at all.
I've tested my SIM on an different phone and it works. I've tried a coworker's SIM in my SGS2 and it doesn't work.
Wifi Calling won't even connect.
The phone was bought on Ebay... do you think the IMEI is banned?
Has anyone experienced this?
Please help!

yep for sure then! it has been blacklisted. The seller must have reported it stolen or stopped paying his subsidized bill.

yup.. blacklisted.
the ebay seller said he'd refund me the money after returning the phone because apparently the supplier was getting the phone from individuals that didn't pay their payments on EIP (Equipment Installment Plan).

Bought T-Mo S2 today for use for my mom. Will not connect to network.

Hey all. Mom dropped her phone in the toilet and needed a replacement. Bought a used T-Mo S2 off Craigslist today. SIM card in, all contacts are found off the SIM but when I try to connect to a network or make a call it tells me "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network".
I restored to stock using ODIN and a post here , and still having the same problem. I believe my mother called and reported the phone damaged, is it possible they have deactivated the SIM? Or is it that the phone itself is somehow broken? I will try another sim that I know is working and report back shortly.
Note : carrier is T-Mobile, phone is T-Mobile.
I will be updating using Kies as soon as the battery is charged enough to allow it.
Just checked the IMEI and it was reported stolen.
****ing assholes I swear to ****, people are so ****ing horrible. ****ing ****heads.

Sounds like the sim card is defective. To be sure though go into settings under mobile networks and see if once you select carrier that is gives you the option to pick on. It should give you tmobile and at&t at least. Once it does select tmobile once it does it should then say connected to network.

Okay, well.
I tried the old SIM. Same thing. Tried a known working SIM (My sisters SIM. Also T-Mobile. In her phone it works absolutely fine.) When I put known-working SIM in the S2 it says the same. If I hit "Availible Networks" it shows T-Mobile and AT&T. If I hit T-Mobile it gives me the "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" message. EVEN WITH KNOWN WORKING SIM.
Looks like they jipped you dude, they sold u a Black listed phone.... u cant do nothing about it they ripped u off. phones garbage. If u want to make sure just call T-mobile
I could be misreading this, but it sounds like a stolen phone. I'd contact the seller and ask for a refund, say next call is to the police... then follow through.

[Q] "Your sim car does not allow a connection to this server"PLEASE HELP

HI everyone im new here but I wanted to see If I can get help with this issue. So basically 2 weeks ago I bought a Note 2 T889 from Craigslist.Everything checked out fine(except for not having wifi but fixed it by flashing a custom rom) but anyways I went to Tmobile and got a prepaid plan.Everything was working fine until suddenly I lost all service(CALLING,WIFI etc).So I went back to my mobile setting to register it back to Tmobile but It kept saying"Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"after many trys i had a feeling the owner reported it lost/stolen.So I went on the Tmobile Imei checker page to find out it was blocked with a bad imei reported lost/stolen.I tried contacting the owner but i was unable to get in contact with him.Without much funds left i went to Best Buy and bought a Simple Mobile $40 starter kit plan too see if that would work but once i inserted the sim card i was getting the same message "not able to connect to network message" so i read online i could unlock it so what i did i downgraded to android 4.1.1 and unlocked it via the *#197328640# method and inserted a AT&T sim card and was not able to connect to the network and got the "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network" notification again.I've played around with settings and roms and havent had any success.I dont have funds for another phone and im waiting for a call back for a job so i really need to take care of this issue.Im on stock 4.1.1 rom and have tried Tmobile,Simple Mobile,At&T and Metropcs sim cards and still not able to connect to anynetwork.I really want to get this fixed but i have no idea what to do know.My last resort would be going the Imei hacking route which i know is not correct but i have limited funds.Someone please help!!!!!!

You may not have unlocked the device properly.
The main issue I see is that you are trying to use a blacklisted phone. That phone is blacklisted for the whole country (including AT&T's network) not just Tmo.
And you are right, IMEI hacking is wrong.

I was going to try Straight Talk but at this point im not sure if I should even waste my money.I just thought for some reason unlocking it would let me use it on another network but I guess now they Ban it from all networks im guessing. If I dont find a solution than I guess ill have to pay someone on ebay to repair the imei.BTW how do I know if its fully unlocked since im not prompted to enter any unlock code when I insert a non tmobile sim card.

If the sim card is not based on tmo's network, and you are running a TW ROM, and you are not getting the prompt - unlocked.
I encourage you to avoid attempting an IMEI "repair". It may be physically possible, but it's not ethical. Don't let your mistake of buying a phone from a scumbag turn *you* into a scumbag.
The carriers don't block IMEIs for no reason. Either the phone was not paid for, or it was outright stolen. Other people have an actual ownership or unfulfilled financial claim to it.
IMEI "repair" is in essence similar to changing the plates on a stolen car so it can be used without catching the eye of the police.

Go to a Corporate Tmo store with your Bill of Sale and tell them of your predicament.
I've read of such instances ending up with the scammed phone being removed from the blacklist and the douches new phone being put in it's place. Screw that guy. Scumbag shouldn't play the insurance game.
Hell, go to Asurion and let them go after him for insurance fraud.
Just don't let it drop. You are righteous until you drop to that jackhole's level.

Question S22+ Verizon says its unlocked but not unlock

Hi guys, does anyone know if there is a solution to this kind of issue?
So I saw a listing of a used Verizon S22+ on OfferUp, asked for IMEI and used that IMEI to ask Verizon rep if the phone was clean and can be unlocked. To my surprise, the rep told me that the phone is clear and its already unlocked. So of course I bought the phone (got a good deal too, only $140 in great condition), but when I pop my MintMobile sim card in, it keeps saying "This phone cant be activated on another network" or something like that (I havent tried other SIM cards from other networks though). I contacted 3 other Verizon reps and of course they all told me that the phone is unlocked??????!!!! I have tried flashing different ROMs (U1/XAA, U1/VZW) and factory data reset with no luck. Anything else I can do in this case? Third party unlock is so expensive.
Thanks for reading

Probably. At least try to figure out why it is not working. If anything, they can pop a Verizon SIM to test it. If a Verizon SIM works, but other network SIMs don't, then the phone wasn't unlocked. Verizon unlocks its devices after 60 days. It is possible, that the device was unlocked by Verizon, but because it not on its network when at the time of unlocking, it may not have finished the unlocking process. If that makes any sense.
In a nutshell, if the IMEI is good on Verizon's end, then the phone may not have "gotten the memo" because it was offline at the time. That is probably a poor analogy.
