I really like the HTC's Car app, but there's one thing that drives me nuts. It disables the notification pulldown, which makes things like skipping a track (or any number of other things) much more difficult than it should be. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? If there's not a known workaround, would any devs be willing to look at modifying this behavior? I'd be willing to donate a bit for it...
I think HTC did this as a safety precaution because when it was allowed, you could access anything that popped up and wasn't "drive friendly".
However, I'd love to know if this possible. For example, getting back to navigation after switching back to music takes three or four taps.

I'm definitely interested in this too. Blocked notification bar is driving me nuts!

Another vote from me to enable it please. On the one x it was blocked on the car launcher but launch a third party app and you had access to it again. Damn annoying as it is now.
lol i just dont use the default HTC car mode. use car home ultra. works like 100 times better and allows for notification bar AND it has default home too
I like Car Home Ultra, but it doesn't read your texts out loud and allow you to respond without ever looking at your phone. If I could do that with CHU I'd switch in a heartbeat.
In case anyone else is still interested in this, someone has finally released an Xposed module to correct these issues! It's called "Car Xposed" and it makes the Car app work exactly like it should! :good::good:

I want my phone to vibrate or make a noise every couple of minutes if I have a new notification. I'm not always able to hear / feel it the first time and the only vibration setting I can seem to find is only two quick pulses.
I also noticed that the green status light doesn't flash if I get a text message, where if I have an email to my gmail account it does. Is there any way to change this?
I feel like I have to check my phone all the time without these.
Have a look at Tasker. I use it to watch for certain notifications and then play a sound or do something else to get my attention, without me having to look at the phone all the time. Telling it to wait for x time before the next action is also possible (and a whole lot more).

probably it will works
That's frustrating... Since tasker is about $7 I have to buy an app to provide functionality that my previous basic cheap phone had. I also found that there used to be a nice free app called 'MissedCall' that you could do it with, however it's no longer on the market. GRRR

There's a 'missed call deluxe' for $1
Or there's Missed Reminder which is free.
I think that's exactly what I'm looking for! Sweet thanks!
My recommendation is Light Flow - There is a free version in Market, perfect customization possible: set different LED Colors for Calls, SMS, Mail, Low Battery etc, set different repeating sounds, vibrations...
It's a feature on Sense devices, and CM ROMs, and I was hoping if someone has found an app that does this. For those who haven't used a Sense device or CM or even WM device, it basically just vibrates for a couple of milliseconds as soon as the call connects. It's useful because you can just hold it rather than wait with it in ear or leave it on a table. All my google searches have come up empty handed ):. Unless I missed something; does anybody know an app that has this function?
+1 I always had this on my SGS2, really miss it.
+1 here, i was able to get this feature by using Touchpal dialer, however, since i updated to 4.0.4, it no longer works. any other help ?
if you install Go Launcher and then in phone settings you can activate vibration. even if you don't use go dialer will vibrate when you answer. I'm not developer but i think some mod for reg could resolve the problem,
Search "CallVibrate" on the Play Store it works for me

I just downloaded and setup Llama. So far it has been very handy in letting me adjust my settings based on whether I am at work or home.
However, I attempted to setup an event to toggle GPS on when I open the Maps application and to turn off GPS when I close the application. However, it doesn't do so! It did note that it cannot do this on ICS as the permissions to do so have changed. However, via Google Search, I did find some mention of it working for some people but they didn't say how.
Anyone here able to do that? If so, how? If not, any other suggestions (Tasker?) on how I can accomplish this?
It doesn't work on stock. Use custom ROM like CM.

You probably already got your answer or quit looking by now but you can toggle gps. You need to use the Secure Settings plugin from the Play Store. I think you might need to be a root user to unlock all the functionality as was mentioned before but mine works like a charm now.
Another great find for me was using the Smart Shortcuts app so that when I plug in my headphones, llama turns down my volume to a manageable level and pops up a list of apps (pandora, google music, stitcher...) I use my headphones with. I do the same for when I plug in any USB, it pops up with a link to care home or clock or my alarm app because I'm usually only plugging in at night or in the car.
I just wish I had some other ideas to look through. I'm sure there is a lot more this thing can do that I'm not thinking about.

I think there is an explanation in the app. Google changed how gps could be toggled. I gave up turning off gps a long time ago. It really only uses power when an app requests it and judging by the notification it's not very often. By default llama uses cell towers, but I use wifi to pin point my location. That way my Bluetooth doesn't turn off until I reach my driveway.

Hello!
Anyone bought the official HTC car holder aka D110?
I want to know if you can stick it to the dashboard instead of window, if yes are you using 3M?
I'm still waiting for mine. But i suspect that the HTC One X dock will come with the same type of 3M glue/metal plate that the Nexus One dock had so you can attach the dock anywhere on the dash.

I wonder if it can take the HOX with a case like Rock ones
I got one from here only place I could find that has stock, it comes with a shiny black plastic disk that has 3M sticky tape on one side so it can be mounted on your dash.
quite a snug fit not sure if it will take a phone with a case

It can but is a very tight fit. The Micro USB connector can still be connected but the 3.5mm audio jack cannot.
Can you use any app or it's sticked to Car app when you put the HOX in it?
you can disable the auto launch feature in the stock HTC car home so you should be able to access anything rather than the limited app drawer in car mode
not used it enough yet but did manage to convice HTC car home to use Sygic (12.1 beta) as the default navigation app

How did you managed that (sygic)?
just got one of these and it seems to disable cyberon voice commander when car home is active. Its easy to sort by disabling the autolaunch but has anyone found a setting/app that allows car home to run and still be able to use bluetooth voice dialing?
How did you change the default navigation app in HTC car home? Anyone know a way? I like the car home app, but sure would like to be able to change the apps (navigation, music, and radio). The provided solution from Htc is customized to the car home app, but a choice could be provided to change them to any apps. Of course in most cases you loose the tailored layout to car view, but a normal short cut to apps would be appriciated I think.

Ok, thank you for your quick reply!
I just got mine yesterday and used it for the first time today.
I used it as a GPS navigator for a one hour drive, but noticed that it lost a lot of power, even though it was plugged into the car charger. Anybody else noticed this?

Getting quite annoyed with this now. About half the time when I unlock my HOX by pulling the ring up, it launches into the dialer instead of the launcher. I thought I might have been accidentally dragging the quick launch icon, but just tested it about 20 times to make sure, and I can drag the ring anywhere on screen, after the quick launch bar has faded and it still happens.
This happening for anyone else?

Unlocking the phone brings you to the last open activity. If you lock your phone after using the dialer, you'll unlock it on the dialer. (Un)locking is not like pressing Home.

I know that. It does this no matter my last open app
this thing happen to me when i charging my phone.. my guess its has something to do with HOX screen sensitivity when on charging status..
yeah it seems related to the touch sensitivity issue when charging, mine does this occasionally.
Happens to me too. I think it has to do with bad coding and unfinished software. My previous phone was Dedire and never had any problems with it. But I'm very dissapointed with the hox. It seems as if it was built with only one thing in mind, get it oit before samsung. Bad move in terms of quality

just a follow up, not near a mains charger at the moment, and can't seem to reproduce when charging from PC.
Is everyone having it launch the dialer, and if so, do you all have the dialer as your first quicklaunch app?
Will be fiddling with this issue later on, because it's just weird
I noticed this when I first got this phone, I just moved the Dialer icon elsewhere on the Dock and it never happened again, strange but a non issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775638
Pls read the above thread, just posted my theory there for this issue, its probably about time we start a proper thread for this issue.
I'm sure this is related to the charging issue, the charging problem screws up the touch's on the screen, which is why the phone app seemlingly appears randomly
