Ok so here's how it all started:
My phone was randomly shutting off and rebooting on its own. At first, I thought it was overheating because the phone was very hot and when it cooled down, the problem was somewhat fixed.
Now, the phone randomly shuts off and reboots 90% of the time and I don't know why. It has a bootloop problem, but for some reason, I can occassional get my phone to load fully if I plug it in to charge, but it goes back into a bootloop after a few minutes or use. I tried a factory reset and it didn't work. In fact, it bricked my phone as it's now in a bootloop.
I tried a normal Flash using LG Flash Tool 2014 but for some reason it always crashes. First, it gives me a "Connection to server failed" error. But for some reason, the LG Tool keeps working as the status bar % goes up during the "upgrading phone" phase. However, when it reaches 99%, the LG Flash tool crashes. I tried both a normal Flash AND a CSE Flash. Both didn't fix the problem. It could be because the Flash Tool crashed, but nowhere on this forum does anyone talk about a fix to the "connection to server failed" error or the LG Tool crashing. Now after the initial flash, however, my phone does turn on and load up, but I get the same issue as before where the phone would crash/reboot after less than a minute of use. Then it bootloops after.
Am I the only one with this problem? If you have a solution, please let me know! My phone's useless at the moment. If I you can figure out why my flash tool crashes, that would be great too because if I can get the tool not to crash, it might flash properly.
Please and Thank you.
I have a LG G3 D855 International (Taiwan Version TW) running Lollipop 5.0
Have you tried the lg flash tool without the 2014 after it? I mean using the dll and tot files?
Usually if one does not work for me the other does. Just depends on how my phone decides to work lol

Sadly, I can't use the TOT method because they don't have my version which is Taiwan TW D855.

hi there. when you turn your phone on does the LG logo just coming in and out slowly? like blinking slowly? if yes, try to buy a new battery. i had that same problem. i cant even use my phone anymore because it just kept on shutting down. i can only use my phone when its plug into a wall charger. when i remove it to the wall charger it shuts down and the LG logo will start to come in and out as if blinking slowly. i tried factory reset a lot of time but didnt solve the problem. so i went to the LG service center and they just put in a new battery and it worked fine after..

Thats great! Same thing is happening to me, my new battery is on the way. Hopefully it will work
Same symptoms here - started as random reboots under heavy load or using the camera, so tried reflashing from v21a LL KDZ.
Then bootlooping just after the LG logo, occasionally getting as far as fully booted, but then restarting near immediately.
Doesn't happen when connected to power.
Tried a different battery, and no problems.
Tried my battery in another G3 - identical behaviour there.
Note: also happens on Marshmallow.
Solution: New battery!
Thanks to posters above.

Hello everybody at the LG G3 part of XDA,
A friend of mine has an LG G3 and his phone broke. So he asked me to fix it. I myself am an Oneplus One user.
So the problem is really simple to explain. The phone doesn't work when there isn't a charger plugged in. When there is a charger plugged in everything is fine and the phone works normally.
So my friend tried to downgrade from lollipop to kitkat ( I don't know what he exactly did ). He doesn't have much knowledge about phones so ofcourse it went wrong.
Here is a video of what happens.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP8MUPsANes
I already did a full reset with the LG flash tool and put the stock 4.4.2 Kitkat rom on it.
I have also checked the battery and it has a normal voltage of 3.8v. My friend also told me that he already swapped the battery in a store.
I do not know anything about a stock recovery of an LG G3, but I tried to acces it and I could get in to the hard reset screen but when opted Yes for everything it got stuck in that same "bootloop". When the phone is in the Hard reset menu then it wil stay ON without a charger. In all other cases it wil stay in a "bootloop"
I asked another friend of mine who has a lot of experience with phones. He said that it might have something to do with the a file that keeps the battery in check in the bootloader or the recovery, but he wasn't sure which one.
Update: When I am on the lockscreen and I disconnect the charger the phone stays on until I touch the screen than it shutsdown immediately
Try to flash lastest kdz of your g3 model

Replace your battery. This is what happened to my phone last september, I thought it was a software related issue, but when I tried to insert my friend's G3 battery, it just boot normally. I think this is a common problem of the phone/battery.
P.S. I tried running stock again, tried on CM, AOSP, etc. but can't make my phone to boot without being charged, until I replace my battery...
Hello, I would like to ask if my LG G3 is softbricked or hardbricked. It has been a long while since it decided to boot loop. I tried to fix it but got no results. I tried to factory reset it, but the next day it didn't turn on anymore and got stuck in the logo. Note : the phone was experiencing some heating issue before it decided to screw itself up. I tried numerous troubleshooting from the net, none worked. I also did try to reinstall the firmware to stock again, it did boot but it can't get to the home screen. I then factory reset it again and tried using another firmware also built for my phone (it's LG G3 D855). It failed again at 33% while it was in the firmware update mode. Now that I have left it for a solid year, I thought that it would be nice to try again. Which I did, but it couldn't charge anymore and it cannot boot to the logo. I tried to go to the download mode but no response. I tried connecting it to my computer, but it only detects my phone as a charge only device, it also detects it on only several random occasion. I hope this is a softbrick and it can be fixed at home so I don't need to go to the store to repair it.
I'm sorry for the long explanation, I had been trying to revive it for months now and had no luck. How do I fix this, at least how do I get to the firmware update download mode again? I really really hope that anyone can help. Thankyou so much in advance.
