Howdy, first timer here. I purchased the 816 and want to use my google apps on it and link it to my google account. I've unlocked, flashed custom recovery ("recovery_en" via fastboot) and recovered from "HTC 816 4.4.2 SENSE5.5 ROOT." I think everything worked, but when I try to install and open Google Services from the HTC Market Place I get the error message "Unfortunately, Google Play Services has stopped." How do I fix this? How do I install Google Play on my phone?
Update: I tried installing the google apps package from here: wccftech.com/download-latest-google-apps-android-1/ Now when I boot the phone I get a loop of "Unfortunately, SetupWizard has stopped." I can just recover from the HTC 816 4.4.2 SENSE5.5 ROOT to fix this ,right?
Update #2: Success! I wiped the cache, still got "Unfortunately, SetupWizard has stopped," wiped the dalvik cache, same error, then wiped user dater and cache and the phone not only works but had google play installed on it! And Hangouts too automatically opened. Now I can get all of my real apps.

Hi - Great that you succeeded - was this the HTC d816w? I have a friend who has purchased one and needs to install a ROM to get google play. I think it is important though that there might be a differentce between HTC desire 816w and HTC desire 816.
Cheers.
*EDIT: Just looked at the ROM link and it is for 816dw - Happy days for my friend I reckon. Cheers.

I just purchased HTC Desire 816W 3G Dual Sim Card. You can use HTC Marketplace to download application name GMS.
You just run this GMS and follow instruction (it would download file around 170MB, perhaps ROM). And after that will automatic Restart and install this ROM). After that I can get Google Play successfully.

Hi
Its been quite a while since your post but im hoping you can help me out. I am totally not experienced with rooting etc and ive been googling for a solution to the same problem. I have a htc desire 816 from china and even though ive installed the apk file for google play store it crashes. I imagine rooting is the only option now. With that in mind i would like to clarify that since this is the dual sim variant would there be any compatibility issues with that. Its just that i have come across some posts where after rooting people have reported some issues. Could you tell me if that was the case with the phone you rooted?
Kindly forgive any inconvenience to you on my part as this happens to be my first post regarding such issues.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have an HTC Desire 816 dual sim unrooted at the moment which I got from a person in china. I have been trying to install playstore and it crashes. So i read your comment and i typed gms in the htc marketplace and the first option that came up was gms but it was a 0.39 mb file even though you mentioned it would be a 170 mb file. The htc marketplace itself also gives options in chinese so that limits my understanding also.
If you could guide me it would really help me out
Thanks in advance

Hello I am new to this forum, hope this is the right place to post this,
I have a Rooted Galaxy S4 Mini, and I had a custom patch of the Play Store installed, but I just hated the icon and didnt notice any difference between the custom patch and the original version of the Play Store so I decided to go back to the original one and uninstalled the Custom one and installed the regular play store and when I did, I opened it and it started loading and showed me the Terms of Service once more but suddenly the little window with the Terms disappeared and the Play Store froze. Soon after it just crashed and a message saying it had stopped appeared. And this just repeats itself everytime I try to open it, It wont even let me tap accept or decline. I tried installing previous versions of the Play store and the same thing happens, tried clearing cache & data and reboot, didnt work, tried clear cache, data, then force stop and reboot and got nothing. tried doing this to Google Play Services, services framework and play store, nothing. I even tried uninstalling updates of Google Play services and all of this steps again. But nothing. And yes, my download manager is enabled. I was so desperate I decided to back everything up with Titanium backup and then I did a factory reset. When it turned on and I configured it, there was no Play Store in my apps. So I manually installed ES File Explorer and Titanium backup to restore my phone and my backup wasnt there unfortunately so I installed Play Store manually too and I got the same error! And now I got to personalize everything again and download all the stuff I had back in so it would be nice to at least get the Play Store working again, please help me!
Sorry for long post please give me some of your time and help me
Thanks
Are you on stock rom? Are you using the GT-I9195 LTE model?
I am on Stock ROM, and I have a GT-I9195L Model its supposed to be LTE I think.
It seems my problem has been solved! Thank god!
I updated all my apps through Aptoide and the play store too, somehow that fixed my problem even though it was the same version.
Thanks
So I downloaded the cyanogenmod 11 kitkat 4.4.2 that released on 12/14/13, with also gaaps straight from ROM manager. Everything was good until I had to signup for Google. I tried signing up but it kept on force closing and stopped. The signup skiped and when to setup wizard but kept on saying "unfortunately setup wizard has stopped" in a endless loop. It also said the Google partner has stopped as well. The only thing I can do is Open up settings, phone, internet, and settings from the lock screen. Every time I try to unlock the phone it repeats the setup wizard message. What's the problem and how can I fix it. I'm guessing its a late gaaps version, if it is how can I put the latest gaaps version on my phone. Please help.

You're supposed to use the PAGapps! . Go into the Goomanager app (download if ya don't have it). Then Browse all, then Devs, then ParanoidAndroid, then Roms, then Gapps, then download the PAgapps 4.4

Hi. I flashed my device with
[ROM][5.0.2][BLISSPOP][OFFICIAL][DUALSIM][2015/02/11]
This was my first attempt with flashing a Custom ROM. All is working fine. But I am having a couple of problems. First I am unable to Flash G Apps. It gives an error that " unfortunately google apps has stopped" at the startup, so i am not able to boot. i wiped the entire data/ cache and had to flash the ROM again.
Second problem is that while trying to install manually from play store, it shows that app has been installed but it is not visible anywhere on the screen.
pl help.
Thanks
I've tried all of the fixes I've found but nothing works.
I was running rooted stock 4.4.2 and then upgraded to 5.02. (the new UK release from SamMobile). Everything works fine, except Google Play Services. Initially I got the 492 error but cleared that. Now, no matter what I try, it just keeps popping up.
I have TWRP 2.8.7.0 recovery and I have a TWRP back-up from a month ago.
Anyone any new ideas? (apart from delete account reboot, delete cache, data, force stop Google Play Services/Store)
Please?
Pretty please?
Check your time and date.
John.
When you get that error it usually asks you to update google services. Always does for me when I reload lollipop and fixes it every time.
Or just download from the link below.
You need to go to apps settings and check the version number of Google services. You need the last 3 numbers in brackets. Probably 436 if you're on lollipop.

Hi guys!
I've a problem with Google Play Services. I tried almost everything I could find to solve it.
1) clear cache
2) factory reset
3) install factory RUU
4) unlock bootloader
5) s-off
6) install another factory ruu
Nothing solved. I still have the message "Need to update Google Play Services".
In Google Play Store there is no new version available.
My phone has Android 5.0.2, Sense 7.0, build 1.45.401.2. Model is A55ML (E9pw dual sim).
Google Play Services is 9.4.52 (010-127739847).
Any help is appreciated.
Best wishes,
Rivelino PatrĂcio

Hello there,
I can't paste the link so just open youtube and search:
how to fix google play services error on HTC One E9
The channel name is Simplifying life
you can fix google play services error on your device.
Follow the instructions, i fixed mine
HTC ONE E9+
Android v 5.0.2
HTC sense Version 7.0
This fix works. The only thing remains malfunctioning is Google Chrome, it fails to update to the latest version. Is there a fix for that issue?
