Flashing dn3 on us tmobile note2 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

What exactly needs to be done to get dn3 rom working on the us tmobile note 2? Im having an issue finding the appropriate steps.

1. Be sure you download DN3 for the N7105 or i317
2. If you're not on 4.3 Bootloader then download Devil Kernel or AGNi Kernel (this will help get wifi to work)
3. Download Tmobiles mk7 modem
4. Be sure you're using TWRP or CWM
5. Wipe - System, Data, Dalvik-Cache & Cache
6. Flash DN3 Rom and reboot. (Flashing things over it before its first boot will not alliw it to boot)
7. Flash Kernel and modem.

Thanks. I couldnt find any definitive posts on the process. What kernel do you reccomend?

I'm using Devil but I've heard good things with AGNi.

Hope we get 4.4.2 dn3 soon

Would u recommend the same steps for me? I have a tmobile note 2 and I unrooted it to get it back to 4.1.1 so I could unlock it to use my at&t sim card and everything working great so I rerooted it and now I want to flash the dn3 rom but im not sure what steps I need to take? Would I need abdifferent approach from your recommended steps here?

Does DN3 have all the Tmobile apps like wifi calling and visual voice mail? Does it have Note 3 apps too like the calendar and action memo

It is not based on a tmo TW rom so WiFi calling is not included.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

How is battery life on DN3?
Currently im gettin on my current rom average 16 hours with 3 hours screen and 26 % battery left.
Is this rom up there with these figures?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

I get 1 day+ 3 hours from 100% charge and im always on wifi so its a great rom and its stable.
I cant wait to get 4.4!

Hey guys. I installed dn3 v3.1.1 LTE yesterday and in aroma, I chose the n7105 install. Everything booted up and I got 4G instantly. After letting it sit for a little, I started using it and experienced a little lag and went ahead and flashed devil kernel 2.3.2. The phone is still lagging at times and had 3 random freezes/restarts. And the blue tooth audio is choppy at times when I'm doing anything else on the phone. Extreme lag at times. I'm coming from jedi X2 and updated my bootloader when I installed jedi.
Any suggestions?
I'm using tmobile note 2

DN3 is already on KitKat. You should flash that.. you will need to be, atleast, on the 4.1.2 bootloader. Then you can flash AGNi Kernel 4.0

I wish someone would make a youtube tutorial on how to do this...

Really?
Is self explanitory...
Be sure you have at least MD1 bootloader.
1. Download Rom
2. Backup current Rom (optional)
3. Wipe
4. Flash Rom
5. Reboot
6. Setup
7. Reboot back into recovery and flash other options (kernel, modem, superSU...etc)

Does flashing the kernel and modem get the Wi-Fi calling to work? I just wanted to confirm. I am not sure if you were referring to Wi-Fi in general. Thanks.

WiFi in general. You have to be on a T-Mobile stock ROM to use WiFi calling with T-Mobile as already answered on the first page.

What model do you have? Carrier? What option did you first choose for a kernel?
You're like the 50th user in here this week with this issue on hyperdrive. It would appear the device type in the build.prop is being is being edited and there is a conflict during the boot process causing this soft brick. Anyone with more knowledge than this please chime in.
If you can still get back into recovery, your options are probably to restore a backup or flash another rom. In download mode you could flash stock stock rooted via odin. If your s3 is not recognized on your pc, there is a flashable stock firmware zip in the link in my signature. In post #2 at the bottom

i'm trying to do is installing the rls 9 and then update see if this help
So the very first time you flashed hyperdrive, you selected at&t and the ziggy kernel and it didn't work? I'm assuming you gave it plenty of time on the first boot up. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but hyperdrive is a verizon base, yes? If so, this might be the source of your problem, even though it is a "multi-carrier" rom. You can try wiping data, cache and dalvik in recovery then rebooting. Like i said, though, you will probably have to another route (restore backup or flash new rom). When you successfully boot up next, I would imagine your model is different in about phone

It could take 10 or so minutes for the initial boot. If it takes a lot longer, you can try booting back onto recovery to wipe data and cache again. If this does not work, I would go another route

When you're back up and running on a rom, go into settings > about phone and tell me what your device is listed as. You may have small issues down the road if your phone has been designated as an SCH-I535 or anything other than SGH-I747. That's an easy build.prop fix, though. Good luck

I905 ROMS on T-Mobile

Do you guys know if they have tethering? Also, do themes and all that work with this phone too? Or just the ROMS granted that I install a T-mobile kernel.

Hi,
I can confirm that with Omega rom teathering worked for me..
but you will lose some T-Mobile features.. (Wifi calling for sure, donno what else)
what i did is:
1. Flash stock T-Mobile
2. Flash CF-AutoRoot
3. Flash TWRP Recovery
4. Boot the phone and copy Tmboile's kernel + Omega rom to internal sdcard
5. boot into recovery
6. Wiped to factory reset + wiped cache
7. flashed Omega
8. flashed kernel
9. reboot
worked great for me + LTE (Where i had LTE signal)
Edit:
I Had Tmobile's Unlimited pack with Unlimited LTE and -No- tethering..

Yeah tethering works great! God these international roms kick ass.
Although one problem I have is that when I open the camera it says that it's updating the firmware and it just sits there in it closes and I open it again and it still says that.

yes i've seen this as well.. but i'm able to take pictures so..
probably it will be fixed soon
It went away by flashing Ktoonez kernel!! Although i'm still wondering why it says processing after every shot.
Auto Night Detection was enabled which is why it would process every picture!
Just flashed back to a tmo rom from international. You definitely lose wifi calling and from what I've seen NFC payment is disabled in most deodexed roms due to some issues.
You gain native tethering. Dialer and a few other things are dark color which is nice. And you also gain call recording.
I'm just going to stick it out on a tmo rom for time being and can tether easily with wifi tether app and working NFC payment. I don't use call recording.

[NOOB] Confused in 4.3 bootloader

Hi Everyone, I'm actually confused, I've downloaded Ditto Note 3 V3.1.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504016) and i want to flash it. It says that it needs bootloader 4.3. I just want to ask, is this with the knox security thing? coz i wanna get rid of that and ofcourse use the phone normally. Any suggestions guys to properly flash DN3 V3.1.1 without knox and properly use it without wifi issues. Thanks in advanced guys.. By the way my phone is Samsung Galaxy Note II (GT-N7105) LTE International

Mate, on the DN3 OP, it was written very clear.
Pls ignore about the wifi patch or anything abt it.
1. If u want to use stock kernel on DN3, u have to use new bootloader. Only new bootloader can dupport 4.3 stock kernel without wifi problem. But new bootloader will come with KNOX.
2. If u want to stick with old bootloader, u can do like what I did... full wipe - flash 3.1.1 dn3 - reboot (at this point u will be with stock kernel nd wifi not working) - update ota to 3.2 dn3 (u have to use ur data network. If ota fail, boot to recovery, flash the zip manually from OTA UPDATE folder) - reboot (wifi still not working) n let few mins to let the rom settle - reboot to recovery - wipe cache and wipe dalvik - flash devil - reboot - done! Ur wifi works nd u r still on 4.1.2 bootloader.
Fyi : devil 2.3.2 is good. Gyroscopes is now working.

Actually there is no OTA update to 3.2. You would have to download 1.5GB file and flash it.

ok.
as I mentioned earlier, the process to flash will be :
Flash DN3 v.3.1.1 => reboot (you will boot up the rom with stock kernel, with non working wifi if you are on 4.1.2 bootloader).
Up to here, do not need to worry. let the rom boot up, and then make sure superSU is working.
On my device, there will be a pop up on the notification bar, saying v.3.2 is available. Just click that one. If ask for root permission, grant it.
The OTA updater will download the v.3.2. Just follow instruction. Normally it will reboot to recovery, but won't install the v.3.2. I have no idea why.
When you are in recovery, just wipe cache, and dalvik. then you choose install file from internal sd (the OTA updater will download and save the file on internal SD). Browse to folder call "OTA Updater", and then folder download.
You will find the v.3.2 zip file there.
Just flash it, reboot again after that.
When the rom boot up, you can check on the about device, that you are now on v.3.2.
Now when v.3.2 is up, you can now change to devil kernel (up to you to choose which version. I'm using v.2.3.2 devil kernel), by go into recovery, wipe cache, and dalvik, and then flash your devil kernel.
Then let the system boot up. Now you will have a working Wifi
Notes :
Don't forget to go into Wifi advanced setting, and turn off (uncheck) always scanning. To have a better battery life. This option sucks battery a lot on 4.3 android.
if I'm not wrong, Viper will be better.
Good Luck!

TouchWiz ROM help

Hello there,
I'm new to Android (got me note 2 three days ago) and I rooted the phone yesterday, I flashed cm ROM into the note, because It was as simple as an iPhone, and it was fast, but I lost some of the greatest features that note 2, offers which are the multiscreen and the S-Pen features, I have posted a help thread about that and they replied that I need a Touchwiz ROM, I went to my close friend Google and searched for Touchwiz rom(s) but there were way too many, can you recommend a good light one with nice interface and noob-friendly? I would really appreciate it.
With regards,

It's hard to say which is best. A twizz rom is a stock based rom. If you want a rom with lots of features I'd look at one of the note 3 based roms like ditto. If you want something light any rooted stock rom will do then you can use titanium backup to freeze or remove anything you don't use. If you want to increase battery life then check out apps like greenify and receiver stop. They help to stop rogue programs running in the background

Thanks for your help, seems that dn3 is good but I have a question, I'm using a Cyanogenmod ROM, will upgrading from cm to dn3 cause me any problems?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
No there will be no problem at all. If you are already on a 4.3 bootloader you will be fine If you aren't you just need to flash either the wifi patch or devil kernel to get wifi. I am on the n7105 which is slightly different. If you follow any of Dr ketan's guides you will not go wrong. Airview pen window and quad screen multi window are all pretty cool features in dn3

You can try Tiagra ROM, its supposed to be 4.3 Touchwiz ROM with the features of Note 3.

Just do a full wipe (is a must and most advisable) when you jump from 1 rom to another.
If you are not sure which bootloader you are in now (noobproof in my opinion) :
1) try download all the files you need first, and put them all on the SD card (ROM, Wifi patch N7100 dr. ketan).
2) Full wipe (if you are on philz cwm, do a clean wipe to flash new rom), and flash new rom.
3) let it boot. Try the wifi, if it doesn't work, it means you are on the old bootloader, then you have to follow the wifi patch instructions (or flash devil kernel on my device N7105).

Thank you for the reply, I have the ROM manager app which is associated with CWM, it has the (install a ROM from SD card) option, and if u press it There are two checks which are (wipe data) and (wipe cache).
Is it safe to use the ROM manager way of installing a ROM ?
P.S: I used the ROM manager way yesterday to change ROMs from cm 10.2 to cm 10.2 nightly and it worked perfectly.

Better flash MJ5 bootloader than Wifi-patch. A lot of people reported problems without new bootloader. MJ5 is knox-free.

You can try what dalanik suggest for the bootloader.
as for the flashing of DN3, I would suggest u flash Philz CWM, or TWRP. I myself use Philz CWM (I always use his since Note1, and so far give me less headache in my personal opinion/experienced).
Anyway, CM10.2 to CM10.2 nightly are still the same base CM. When you want to jump into TW from CM, I would highy recommend to do a full wipe. And the full wipe is the best do from recovery.
I'm sorry, I have no idea on using ROM manager to flash ROM on Note device. I left it long time ago. Galaxy S1 is my last device to use ROM manager.

Good advice. Most people seem to have more success with phils revovery on DN3. Aroma can be buggy at times and different recoveries can struggle with aroma

So... you really did it from ROM manager ? I guess you are faster then I reply earlier.
ok.. Now you go to this website : http://www.mediafire.com/?v6cyi52g2ydbd
and then download : philz_touch_5.00.5-n7100.tar.md5
after that you can flash it from PC Odin (since you said u still can go into download mode).
Once you see pass and your phone reboot, press vol up + home + power to go into recovery. You shall see Philz CWM there.

yep correct.
If you ever consider to try again, inside Philz, when you choose wipe data/factory reset, there's option something like "Clean wipe to install new ROM". choose this one. It will do necessary wiping + formatting system/data and necessary formatting. Then you can wipe cache & dalvik. Then you can go on on flashing again.
Or... The best way that I always use, is to clean the internal storage (if I jump from TW to AOSP or the other way around), by using Zoots script. This script (custom wipe => mega wipe), will remove everything inside the internal storage. It will make a very clean place (until your backside ) to flash new ROM.

Use it with Philz 5.0.0.5
Just an opinion, if you would ever like to try again in the future.
All recoveries can be a bit buggy with aroma and bootloop is common. Sometimes turning the phone on and off works sometimes it can take 3 or 4 attempts to work so don't panic. I don't think one of us has never had a bootloop with aroma. As antique_sonic said I think earlier versions of phils play better with aroma. I think it's version 5.15 not 5.05 that's the one I used anyway

You will most likely have to factory reset since you are downgrading.
You can try just wiping dalvik, but if it hangs at boot youll have to factory reset.
one more question

hank you very much but can you answer me one question is there anyway you or another could port the revolutionary s5 v3 to the i747 it looks so amazing they only have it for the s3 i9300 not the s3 i747
Afaik, porting from tbe i9300 is a pretty difficult process. The device is very different from ours. Not saying it isnt possible, but I dont think we've really ever had any ports from that device.
I wont be able to try as I just have too much on my plate already and not enough time as it is. Sorry....maybe someone else will tackle it....

well thank you very much for responding you've been a very patient n helping hand if you could maybe you could pass it around to some of the other developers you are in contact with I know of about 30 people personally that would love to have that on there i747 not counting the people ive seen on here asking for a rom from the s5 but no big deal THANKS AGAIN
I was watching this thread because I had the exact same question. I tried installing the "StockMOD Custom ROM 4.3 RLS2.1" and my S3 wouldn't even boot past the Samsung screen. I left it there for 15 minutes and nothing. I tried wiping dalvik/cache from recovery and then it wouldn't even get that far. From that point on when I tried to reinstall the ROM it would go by and then when it got to the rebooting stage it would tell me "No OS installed. Are you sure you want to reboot?", or something of that nature. I then installed the Deodex Debloat Version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998 and it installed/booted on the first try. Only problem is that Wi-Fi does not work & not sure of what my next step should be to get Wi-Fi working. I came from 4.4.2 OTA. Should I install the 4.3 modem or try flashing the StockMOD Rom again? I'm confused because it was stated that it didn't need to be installed.
Edit: I installed the StockMOD ROM directly over top without wiping anything and it worked. If I just want the "Deodex Debloat" version should I wipe, reinstall that ROM, then install the 4.3 modem since it didn't work before?
Edit: Second time flashing the Deodex Debloat ROM & Wi-Fi is working but now I have no data/4G. Help! LoL.

if you flashed it without wiping cache n dalvik- dirty flash then it should have worked unless u came from another 4.4.2 rom mine is working fine
correct me if im wrong
If ypu updated to 4.4.2, and then flashed a 4.3 rom, you have to use either the MJ2 or kt747 kernel or wifi wont work.

I would get either no wifi or no data depending on which modem was used after flashing the rom.
01 - Via TWRP (2.7.1.0) dirty flash d2att_4.3_MJB_Debloat_Deodex_v1.2.zip
02 - Reboot without wiping cache/dalvik = freeze at AT&T logo
03 - Wipe cache/dalvik = freeze at AT&T logo
04 - Factory Reset = success with the exception of no wifi
05 - Flash MJB modem = Wifi now enabled but no data. (baseband unknown/imei null)
06 - Flash NE4 modem = data/baseband/imei restored, but no wifi again
07 - Flash UCUEMJ2_Insecure_kernel.zip + wipe cache/dalvik & reboot = somplete succcess (wifi+data all working)
At least for my experience Doc is 100% correct. Not sure how you were able to flash the StockMOD ROM without having to flash a kernel. Especially when "How to flash" on the StockMOD page says "5. Flash Kernel (For WiFi)". Not saying you are lying, just that I don't understand why you didn't need to.

As for why, starting in 4.3 (MJB) samsung moved the modules required for wifi to work. They are now included in a different partition. Custom kernels (or rather any kernel but the original stock) look for the modules (drivers) to be in /system/lib/modules (the location on earlier builds). Since they are not there, the system doesnt know how to use the wifi radio resulting in no working wifi.
We got lucky with the MJ2 kernel. It was the first 4.3 leak, and just by chance I tried it on a different leak (for the T999) while trying to figure out the wifi issue and it worked! They simply had not made the change in that test build. Pure luck! The kt747 kernel works because it was built from source and modified to use its own modules which are included in the kernel package.
It has been a good while, so as for where the modules are located now im not suren. But if you browse to /system/lib/modules and find wlan.ko, youll see it is symlinked to /system/lib/modules/prima/prima_wlan.ko. Youll also notice there is no prima folder or file. In older builds, the wlan.ko file was actually there.
Hope that made sense and hope I got most of it correct. (Going from memory)

whatever kernel that was built into the rom is what im on I listed it in my reply before, I haven't flashed anything else ONLY THE ROM, mine booted right up n works great,
The more I think about it, it makes sense to me in both situations.
Id expect it to work on 4 4.2 because the wifi drivers are still in the same location, so as long as youre on 4.3 or above, it should work, as it apoears to do for you. But there are ithers who it did not work for and they have to use one of those other kernels. So it could be newer drivers not being compatible. Either way, if wifi is not working, I do know the kernel change will fix it.

well I have a twrp backup of it on my phone if you have some way of opening it, maybe somehow I could send it to you n whatever you find may be a tremendous help to you in how to fix the wifi n not having to flash the other kernels
I dont think there would be anything in a nandroid backup that would help. But tbh, right now I have no intention of digging into it any further. First because we already do have a pretty simple solution, and second because im already swamped with other projects and problems I've promised others I would work on.
