Is there a vanilla Android rom for Tab3?
If not, is it a deodoxed stock rom I should use to remove bloatware?
In short, no. There isn't...
But that's because this freaking tablet has an x86 CPU, which, in theory, should make things easier and more compatible, but it's not.
Everything is based on ARM processors, so this will take a while...
But when it has all been finished, this Tab will be one of the most powerful ones.
Even custom stock ROMs haven't really been made, because there are not so much people who want to do such things... For this tablet... And it still is kind of difficult...

Ok. So what are the deodoxed and rooted stock roms from this forum? Nothing good?
PimpDroid and AmatROM for example.
I'm using AmatROM, which has the Multi-Window function, but I'm going to install PimpDroid because that one does fit my desires somewhat more.

I found that in the Nexus S forum that there is a HTC Sense ROM version launched as a beta. I would love to see it running on our GNex since the hardware is simular it should be possible.
The problem with Sense was that the battery drain was huge. But since GNex and HD2 devs managed to solve this in better kernels it should be possible to make it run like a charm on our GNex
I came from HTC HD2 and we had so much different ROM to flash like: WP7, all andriod version, windows 95, ubuntu, meego and much more... I kinda mis that on the GNex. A lot of HD2 devs are working on GNex so I hope that we have those possibilities also in the near future.

I had a nexus s from what it looked like sense was hard as hell to get running.

I don't think that will be happening. HTC doesn't use PowerVR or TI OMAP so proprietary stuff like that would be a ***** and it might not be worth the trouble. Also...you bought a nexus phone for the stock Android experience and latest and greatest...WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO KILL IT WITH FIRE?

Kinda beats the idea of having a Nexus if you ask me.

I really don't understand people on here!! If you want Sense, buy a HTC phone!!! People buy nexus's because they cant stand the skinning of manufacturers, and now people are asking for touchwiz and sense ports, which just slow the phone down! WWWHHHYYYY?!?!?!
people also buy the Gnex becuase of its developer support. Most people here love flashing stuff and though I love stock ICS I would love to try out the latest touchwiz or sense as well
One, i didnt bought the phone for plain ics experience but due to the hardware specs.
Two, I hope that the device will get more options in flashing ROMs. Not cuz i like Sense roms but just cuz its possible. And i'm more into plain ics dont get me wrong, also my HD2 had plain ICS without Sense cuz it runs better.
Thirth, I hope that ppl will see smartphones as "normal" computers and see the possibilities of running and developing other OS then Andriod. A lot of people are so short sighted and focus only on the Andriod experience. But there is more capable with the device .. so much more.
Take Ubuntu for example, most of our kernels are based on the ubuntu kernel. Its possible to run plain Ubuntu. The experience would be like a laptop. You can connect it to a screen and add a mouse. Ofcourse you could make a dual boot with the choice of ics and the other system with Haret. Running ICS as native OS and booting Ubuntu from internal storage with Haret.
Dont get me wrong I love the phone as it is and I love the way ICS works and would use it always as daily use. But from developing perspective there are so much more possibilities wich also can give the GNex a lot bigger status as best phone =)

Btw the only thing not working correct one the Nexus S Sense ROM is wifi and its driver related. Ppl like Cotulla or TyTung have made a custom driver (wifi, gpsa, camera and lots more) so its not impossible .
I truely loved to see how ppl managed to make a custom driver for a camera and how it worked code wise since the standard device drivers are closed source. In my opinion those ppl are truely DEVs like the kernel builders. Crappy apps or game programmers arent true DEVs in my opinion .. i'm a app/game/web programmer my self and dont consider my self to be a true mobile DEV.

Brilliant. There are so many different launchers and really nice widgets on the Market. I just don't understand why somebody would like to kill his phone with Sense or Touchwiz. Latest Sense even looks like Launcher Pro. We do have the after Sense isn't it?
Sense isn't impossible as long as you port Sense, and not the whole damn rom. Biggest issue we saw when we tried a while back was gralloc. That may be less an issue now that there are ICS versions of Sense out there now.
I just read Team BAMF have something in the works as far as sense on the gnex.....

Well,
Being the date on that is in December ...
The poster was incorrect as we made no such announcement. We do have 'sick' stuff in the works, but its not Sense. Our Sense expert gave it a shot and without having ICS HTC kernel source, its unlikely to work any time soon.

So when the source for the HTC One X gets released then it will be possible?

I don't know exactly. Erishasnobattery is the one who attempted it. I believe there were gralloc issues. Back then, we had no ICS Sense to work with though, so I don't know, it may be entirely possible now.
Hey...We should get this going!
Really unnecessary bump.
Either way, it's all about choice, people buy this phone for superior development, so people just like options.

For those of us (or maybe just myself?) who don't use this phone to their true potential is it silly to flash custom roms and ***** and moan about poor battery life and freezes or just stick to the stock ROM with perhaps a different kernel? I just wanna get input from those of you who may think like me. The rom I am using is NOT working out. Used to but not anymore. Battery life doesn't cut it. Having to do battery pulls doesn't cut it. Etc.

Stock vs custom ROM is a neverending debate. If your ROM isn't working, try another. Although we have the same phone, different ROM/kernel combinations work differently for different people.
I tend to think 100% stock will give the best battery and stability, however there are really 2 important reasons to use a custom ROM...removal of CIQ and titanium back up. Those reasons alone are worth rooting and installing a custom ROM. Which one works best for you? Only you can answer that.
Flash and enjoy!

I was in the same boat, stick with Stock or try out a custom ROM. For me, my phone is my daily driver so I needed something that is very stable with no bugs. That's why I stuck with stock for such a long time.
However, I did some research and decided to flash one of the custom ROMs. The ROM I am running is very stable with no issues whatsoever. On top of that, it's highly customizable, much better battery life and speed. You can remove all the unwanted system apps, there are a multitude of themes to choose from as well.
At the end of the day the choice is yours. Stock is still very good, very stable and you won't have issues.
If you want to get rid of some of the bloat apps that you don't use, increase your speed/performance and battery and get a different look/theme and functionality then try one of the many custom ROMs. Do your research, ask your questions and you will find exactly what you are looking for. I did
I already run custom roms. Both on the Sensation and then again on this phone. Currently running DARKSIDE actually. Just deciding to change out and wanted some input from others. Thanks for all the replies. Stock is too boring. Glad I will continue customs.

I've been thinking of just going stock and rooting. I don't use my phone for what it's worth so I mainly want the best battery. I have tried Juggernaut, Paradox, DARKSIDE and current Macnut. Not too happy. Random reboots at times and terrible battery. Still so unsure :/

Can anyone point me to the lightest Rom? I tried ARHD and Viper one and some cyanogenmods. The cyanogenmods felt the lightest but they had been buggy and stuff didn't work.
So any recommendations? Besides ARHD and Viper? Viper seems like a mess to me and ARHD does a pretty good job but I always feel like they get slower the more hours they are turned on and the ram is filling up..
Really appreciate your help! Thanks in advance!
And if you want to point me to a aosp or cm Rom it needs to support everything but NFC...
Bluetooth, Wifi tether etc is needed!

Insert coin is really clean for sense and as for an AOSP ROM my favourite is liquid smooth.
I have tried many different one and InsetKoin is my daily driver now. I really like it. Fast and smooth with great battery life.
I am considering trying an aosp on it.
Sorry guys, but I'm going to have to close this thread. We don't allow ROM comparison threads because they tend to bring out the fanboys and then the trolls. Plus, what works best for one doesn't necessarily work best for another. So, we always recommend that you read the descriptions of each thread and find a ROM that has the features you want.
Hi Guys
I just want to ask
Which 4.4.2 Touchwiz rom that you guys have tried is the fastest?
Im talking smooth and silky, no lag and has low ram usage
I have tried a few since the beginning of the year. They all start off well until phone starts lagging, jamming etc and have to use clean master get decent performance out of it
Thanks

Do you mean aircommand? It works fine, only thing is I can't set it on or off
But with a little bit patience and luck we all can install dn4

Deep impact. Battery savings, smoothness.
ported 4.4.4 till yesterday, since today DN4
Is low bluetooth signal fixed in 4.4.4?
DN4 is definitely the way to go! It's awesome, smoother than DN3 5.5, which was already better than stock 4.3:

Hey everyone, I just got a nexus 7 2013 today, it's the 16GB model, and it was only £100, so I'm pretty pleased at that, it's running 6.0, the performance is great, but now, after even a day of use I have already been looking into rooting and ROMing it, I'm slightly hesitant to do so however.
Will there be a massive change in performance? If so, what ROM should I go for? I'd really like some suggestions please, and also if someone could point me to a guide to help me root and ROM it, that would be absolutely fantastic. I really don't want to f*ck up this tablet, so could someone please give me some advice. Also I'm not a rookie at custom firmware and all, I've had numerous devices but this is the first one I'm slightly concerned about moding as it comes with no warranty as it's a refurbished unit :/ .
Thanks all
P.S. I realise after reading around that I've posted this in the wrong section....Whoops sorry
Stock 6.0 runs great. I root to block ads thats it.
When official support stops I'll go with something else but right now there's no need.
You're unlikely to **** it up if you read first so try whatever you like. Just make a nandroid first.
I stay stock in my N7 2013 LTE with root + xposed + elemental kernel
After trying many roms, I finally settled on Slimkat. Fantastic performance, incredibly stable, etc.

Yup, just as I prefer Windows 7 over Windows 10 and my 2009 Toyota Corolla over the later models.
I've tried pretty much everything on my Nexus 7. And every time, I came back to KitKat. IMHO, it offers the best performance, best battery life, most stability, and best functionality for what I want my tablet to be able to do.
Marshmallow, as far as my experience goes, certainly lives up to its name. It made my Nexus 7 feel like I dropped it into this sweet, sticky, gooey mess that, while tasting good for a moment or too, just became too tough to chew for any length of time.
