I'm looking to upgrade to 4.3 via flashtool. Is it safe to do it without checking wipe data and cache?

Yeah it is absolutely safe but you should consider a fresh firmware install because nothing is better than a clean install... Hit thanks if I helped

Reflash the rom you`re on without a wipe (exept cache and dalvik cache), that should do it

Any guide links?
Will that affect other apps? Like resetting their settings?
Cheers

If you are unrooted and on stock firmware flash firmware from here www.sammobile.com/firmware with Odin 3.04 see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696 . If running custom firmware reflash the rom in CWM.

Will every app be reset to defaults I guess ?
No it shouldn' 't. Data should be intact.

What if you only Clear data on the S Note app? That usually restores everything in a app.
OK I wanted to to if you have to factory reset and all that when you flash a new update on a rom. Or do you just flash it without clearing your data. Thanks.

If you're updating you can just wipe cache and dalvik :good:

A lot of the time you don't even have to do that, you can just go ahead and flash. It's always a good idea though. It's also good to do a full reset when flashing updates from, i.e., CM10 to 10.1.

Just wanna know what are your steps when you actually do a super CLEAN install? I would like to know since there arent that many mentions around in the arc community.
Usually performing a wipe data/factory reset alongside wiping the cache and Dalvik cache in CWM does he job.Sometimes its better to clear /system too when installing a new ROM.
You don't have to wipe data to flash a new kernel - just cache and dalvik cache(not compulsory too. You won't lose any data. But it never hurts to wipe those two things. As far as i know It will just take longer to boot.)
Flash a stock FTF.

That or just lock bootloader (if it was unlocked ever) and use Repair option in Update Service.

My plan is to actually do that since I'm experiencing reboots when im turn on mobile data on KXP (which never happened before using arcfusion 3.x). This happened after flashing lupusv5 and now i'm on lupusv6 and i thought it'd stop but it's still there. So I think I isolated the problem to the ROM. So I just flash stock ftf like that? No exlusions (using Flashtool) like baseband, etc?

Yep, it will wipe everything and gives you a clean base to start from.

Of course you will, otherwise it's not what I would call a "clean install". Might be annoying, tedious, time consuming or whatever you want to call it but it's the best way imo.
hi,
I will flash this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016452
the stock odexed version but I've a question: for flash this ROM from CWM, I wipe system partition?
Yeah but you better Google some stuff before you get started. Do you have root? Custom recovery? What are you currently running?
And you need to do wipe data/cache/dalvik cache/format system if you want a clean install.

yes I will wipe data with a factory reset.
Now I have the Android 4.2.2 ROM of bigxie, the deodexed version.
Is the wipe of system necessary?

Probably not, but there really is no reason not to do it. It takes maybe 5 seconds, and there are zero downsides to doing it.

I don't like it but ok XD
I totally agree, for a clean install, its not a must but is recommended to format system...
4.3 back to 4.2?
will there be any issues going from 4.3 back to 4.2?
I need to update radio and bootloader first?
I am planning to upgrade my new P6 from B113 to B122. Does this upgrade make a factor reset to the phone or it is only updating the version without wipe the data ??
This update doesn't wipe data. Wipe only dalvik.
