OK I wanted to to if you have to factory reset and all that when you flash a new update on a rom. Or do you just flash it without clearing your data. Thanks.

A lot of the time you don't even have to do that, you can just go ahead and flash. It's always a good idea though. It's also good to do a full reset when flashing updates from, i.e., CM10 to 10.1.

I just sifted through the forum and couldnt find anything so is there a special thing you have to do if you want to return to Sense after CM 7 and MIUI? Or can you just flash a Sense rom?
I remember on the Fascinate we had to ODIN a stock ROM after because of MTD BLM.
No you can just flash. Well you should clear data/cache.
I normally wipe data factory
wipe cache
format system
clear davlik
clear battery
then flash.
Might be to much but thats normally what I do and Ive never had any problems.

I would definitely wipe all those, especially from an AOSP Rom to a Sense Rom
FWIW, I do the same, except I don't bother to wipe battery stats.

Make sure you return to a stock kernel as well (if you changed it). From what I have heard, sense and AOSP kernels are not compatible with each other.

This is TRUE!
Better yet... Couldn't U just make a backup of the sense then just restore it

I searched and couldn't find it. Is there an easy way to uninstall a custom theme? I am using Jellybomb but it seems to be killing my battery quickly. Do I have to factory wipe or is there a way to uninstall the theme cleanly?
Thank you all
Restore nandroid...or probably a dirty flash of the Rom you're running....
Reinstall the rom... Do a dalvik and cache wipe.. Should be fine not doing a factory reset...

Thanks folks! Sadly I forgot to nandroid before jellybomb, my last nandroid is blazer 1.6 lol. Oh well it is my punishment to have to re install 1.7
Like naddict said you should be able to reflash without factory wipe which means you won't loose data/apps/settings/etc.

Well a clean install would be when you wipe EVERYTHING and start fresh. So a dirty flash is when you flash but don't wipe everything first.
And, yes, I am ignoring all the different jokes that could be made.
friends after i flashed cynmgn 10 my camera, gtalk, torch is not working, tried flashing various custom roms, downgraded, upgraded, cleared galary app data but no help, please help
have you tried to wipe cache and dalvik cache?

Recently change batteries or had battery out? This happened to me a while back and it was because the battery wasn't connected back properly. I was doing the same thing as you, switching ROMs and stuff.

Whichever one works better for you. There are different customizations for each ROM, but it's up to you to decide which one works better for your needs.

I keep getting stuck in a boot loop with all the updates of 10.1 Nightly, the only one I didn't get looped in was the original. I even did a full wipe and everything, help anyone?

I never have that issue even with dirty flash. Have you tried to wipe system, data, everything? I think you can try to Odin back to stock, then root it and start everything fresh. Sometimes the old files are still left over and mess up your phone.

The sad thing is, that's all I've been doing. Using Odin and keep going back to stock, update to ICS with Kies, and then hope to try and run another version of the ROM, and still no luck. It's quite frustrating. And yeah, I wiped system, data, everything. Did a full on wipe.
Also, has anyone have been getting call issues? Like you sound muzzled to your callers?

Here is solution for your issue:
1. Upgrade recovery, or switch to TWRP.
2. Clean flash rom again.
3. Flash the newest radio UVLI4, or LI1.

DO NOT do that if you are on the latest TWRP or CWM 6.+ cause Darkside super wipe was discontinued. For AOKP and CM 10.1 Nightly I just did a data/partition wipe and flash gapps.
Are there any steps I do to flash a new kernel? Like wipe the cache or anything?
And let's say I have the deviant kernel, how can I switch to the faux kernel?
Thanks in advance!

Both. Think of it like this...
Would you ever take a dump without wiping? NEVER. Wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe. A wiping flasher is a happy flasher.

I'm still pretty new to all this stuff, from what I've read, it's all different, noone ever is really specific, which is annoying imo. And a lot of guides/tutorials are very vague. Step by step guide, my ass, lol. I think if ur flashing a new rom, u wanna do data, system, cache and dalvik. If ur jus restoring a backup, I think all you need is factory data reset which is basically data, cache and dalvik. But hey, WTF do I know, hopefully someone can fill us in, I originally posted that link, because I remembered it because it was the only one that was pretty specific. Good luck man.

In almost any ROM i have ever flashed its been recommended to wipe System,Data,Cache,Deviant Cache Before you flash the Rom after you flash the ROM wipe Cache, Deviant Cache.
With Kernels wipe Cache,Deviant Cache Before and again after.
Just in my experiences.
