I have SIM unlocked my HTC Desire long time ago
where the original lock was for Telus.
Now my volume button does not work and I want to send it back to Telus/HTC
for fix and just to be 100% with the procedure I want to re-lock the SIM
back to telus
I have the unlock code which I used the first time and I guess I can lock the SIM
using the same code
Does anyone know the procedure for re-locking the SIM to a specific network
and do I need a telus sim card for that?
I think you have to unroot it with a ruu

Rooting and sim unlocking are different procedures. I doubt that flashing stock will relock your phone.
Anyways unlocking your phone with an unlock code doesn't tinker with your software so it shouldn't affect warranty. But I guess that is up to the provider to decide.
Right now I have CM rom
I will flash the original Telus Desire ROM and I want to re-lock it
As paul mentioned by flashing the original rom it does not mean the phone
will be sim lock again to telus
There are some codes with *# but I can not remember the procedure
i think there was a simlock in hboot or fastboot i think
Hi guys, I got my unlock code from Telus, and am trying to unlock my T989. The phone is rooted and running AOKP-M6. The instructions say to simply insert a non-telus Sim and turn on the phone, it should then ask for the unlock code...
I did this, and its not asking me to insert the unlock code.
Do I need to restore back to stock/unroot?
I dont have the stock Nandroid, can I use any other stock rom?
Thanks!

No you dont have to do anything to your phone...i never unrooted or returnck to unlock a phone...it "should" like they said as soon as your phone turns on with a different sim it should ask to enter a code.
If you can try a different sim.
Did you buy your phone from a private seller or did you get it from tellus?
I bought it from Telus 8 months ago, I'm giving to my sister who's on Fido.
I inserted her sim and its not asking me anytihng...just says that its not connected to the network.
I just dled the Stock ICS Rom...maybe its the AOKP thats not making it work?

I had the same issue on AOKP, I had to restore to my STOCK nandroid backup, and then got the enter the unlock pin screen with a different SIM.
See if it helps.

I just dled a Stock Telus ICS Rom and its installing now...hopefully it'll work!
I'll reply in 10 lol
It Worked!!
Thanks a lot guys
To anyone trying to unlock on AOKP, you need to first restore to a STOCK ROM
Hi there,
I have just sold my HTC One X, which is currently SIM Locked to Orange. I tried to use an unlock code (same code provided by two different services) and it didn't work. I have a rooted phone with an AOSP Jelly Bean ROM running on it by Trip, and also his custom kernel. Would this be why the codes aren't working, and if so is there a way I can get this phone SIM unlocked?
Thanks in advance....

If you are S-OFF (not rooted but S-OFF) then your phone is problably sim unlocked. Take into consideration that not all sim unlocked devices work with all carrier sims. Some carriers lock their sims so they can not work with unlocked devices.
If you used the Hack Kit to root your device, then you are simunlocked. Check it this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD

I just tried another one after purchasing an unlocking code and the SIM works. How retarded of me. So is it just some SIM cards that wont work or is it generally all sim cards from a specific carrier?

Seems that GIFFGAFF locks the sims...so you probably will have to ask them for a new one.
Yes.
Yes it can be unlocked but not free. You have to get your unlock code provided by your network service provider, for that you have to pay a little bucks. To get the unlock code you can go to Unlock-Zone.com and select your country and network to which your phone is locked. And get your unlock code through mail.If you try with free codes there are many possibilities for your phone to be hard locked.
currently on ariel rom, with an unlocked att gs3. would like to restore device to stock and upgrade to JB to sell on ebay. will switching roms or upgrading android version cause me to lose carrier unlock?
Anyone?
Which method did you use to unlock the device? (For example, standard SIM unlock, dialer code/"ServiceMenu" method, etc)?
The phone was used on t mobile briefly but I couldn't stand edge speeds. I called att and they gave me a code to enter after inserting the t mobile sim card. When you turn the device on with another network sim card it automatically prompts you to "enter unlock code"
No. Switching roms or upgrading android version will NOT cause you to lose carrier unlock.
