How to Unlock SGH-T989 with Unlock Code? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi guys, I got my unlock code from Telus, and am trying to unlock my T989. The phone is rooted and running AOKP-M6. The instructions say to simply insert a non-telus Sim and turn on the phone, it should then ask for the unlock code...
I did this, and its not asking me to insert the unlock code.
Do I need to restore back to stock/unroot?
I dont have the stock Nandroid, can I use any other stock rom?
Thanks!

No you dont have to do anything to your phone...i never unrooted or returnck to unlock a phone...it "should" like they said as soon as your phone turns on with a different sim it should ask to enter a code.
If you can try a different sim.
Did you buy your phone from a private seller or did you get it from tellus?

I bought it from Telus 8 months ago, I'm giving to my sister who's on Fido.
I inserted her sim and its not asking me anytihng...just says that its not connected to the network.
I just dled the Stock ICS Rom...maybe its the AOKP thats not making it work?

I had the same issue on AOKP, I had to restore to my STOCK nandroid backup, and then got the enter the unlock pin screen with a different SIM.
See if it helps.

I dont have my stock nandroid
I just dled a Stock Telus ICS Rom and its installing now...hopefully it'll work!
I'll reply in 10 lol

It Worked!!
Thanks a lot guys
To anyone trying to unlock on AOKP, you need to first restore to a STOCK ROM

[SOLVED] [Q] Never prompted to unlock sim

At what point should my Dinc2 be asking for the unlocking code? I have a GSM sim and its never asked.
Note: I have already rooted with S-off and I am running a GSM compatible ROM by Aerovan CM9
Update::::
After 2 and a half days of googling I found the answer. You have to access a stock rom and go to System settings>security>disable sim unlock then it will prompt for you to enter in the sim unlock code.
Stock ROM required?
Is a stock image actually required for this?
Thanks,
Paul
Where is that option on S3?
OK, so have stock ROM on S3 now... Cant find that option.. Is it available somewhere else on the S3?
Thanks

Did you insert a non-Tmobile sim card?
From my experience when there is no prompt after you enter another company's sim that usually means that the phone is carrier locked or it is already unlocked.
Google Samsung unlock methods, I know that there is a code *#7....etc into the dial pad and it brings up the prompt, a Samsung representative walked me through it before, but I forgot.
If you call them they can help you, just be prepared to be on hold forever.
Also try posting this in a Galaxy S 2 forum, maybe people have ways around it. This a S3 forum

do u remember the code that u entered plz that would be helpful
you have to be on a stock based rom... the prompt for code will not come up on cynagen. flash back to a stock rom insert sim..unlock phone then go back to cyangen
once you put in sim reboot the phone and prompt will come up...when on stock based rom
Try #011*enter your code#
Not sure if it would work or not, but I always tried this on stock roms, not rooted ones.

[Q] Is it possible S3 SIM re-lock itself?

HI,
I rooted an 747M on 4.3, install a 4.3 rom and sim unlock the phone with cellunlocker.net. It worked, other sim worked.
Then, I want to roll back to the stock 4.3 from nandroid backup. =bootloop.
reflash recovery and screw it, get my custom rom back from the second nandroid backup.
It worked. BUT I DIDNT test the phone with an other SIM...
I sent the phone ti my bro in other country and he said that the phone is locked.
I thought that SIM unlock is for ever , no?
thank you
I'm surprised because I didn't think the phone could re-lock.
Is the owner being prompted for a network unlock code or a sim unlock code?

Unlock Code

I recently purchased an unlock code from a company online. I finally received my code tonight but I'm unsure how to go about using it to unlock the device. The Device Unlock application wouldn't allow me to enter anything, so I dialed #7465625*638*# and entered the code that way. I followed a few trouble shooting techniques but it still won't work on AT&T. Does anyone have any experience with this using this device? If so, I'd love to hear what to do.
Try flashing a different Rom from another carrier through recovery. Maybe the AT&T rom. I simply put a tmobile sim in the phone and it successfully my phone through the application.

Youre saying to flash the stock rom from AT&T? Have you done this? What do you mean you put a TMobile SIM in and it unlocked it..
1. Did you have a TMobile S6?
2. Did you flash an ATT rom to it? Custom recovery or stock?
3. Did you use a code?

Uncusseful Network unlock with cm12.1 and MJB Bootloader... Is there a way?

So here's my problem. I finally got my code to unlock my network on my Canadian rogers phone but I've realized that I need stock rom to be able to unlock and I am now on Cyanogenmod 12.1 android 5.1.1 with the I747MUMUEND3 baseband and MJB bootloader (I believe). I remember flashing a new baseband/modem to be able to get the CM 12.1 nightlies.
But now I'm stuck in France with a SIM card that doesn't work and I don't think I can downgrade from what I'm seeing in the forums. Once your beyong 4.3 there seem no downgrading/stock possibilities...
Am I stuck with a Galaxy S3 wifi tablet?!
You can flash the latest 4.4.2 stock ROM from sammobile.com, perform a factory wipe, boot phone with non-Rogers sim, enter the sim unlock code.

Sorry to ask you but I can't seem to find it. I've been searching and I found firmware
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/9102/I747UCDLK3_I747ATTDLK3_XXX/ but
I feel like that might not be it... And I'm scared to brick my phone!
The Rogers s3 is the Sgh-i747m.
And this gets it down to just the i747M releases by Rogers.

Unfortunately I'm now stuck on boot...
Nevermind I had to factory wipe wich I did and now I have successfully unlocked my phone. Thanks a bunch guys. Much appreciated!
So, I was given a i747 A T & T model for my daughter. I was able to get TWRP flashed and made a back up of the stock ROM. I then proceeded to flash CM12.1. Now, my question is this; I got the unlock code from the original owner and was trying to use it but it kept coming back as an incorrect code. I found this thread and realized I need the stock ROM. So if I restore the stock ROM back up, will that be enough to let the unlock code work? Unfortunately, I've already used 4 of the 5 tries, and don't want to waste the last one. Thanks for any information.
You should be fine to enter the code if you are able to restore the TWRP backup of the stock ROM.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to run it by you folks here. I'd never dealt with Sim unlocking a phone before. My personal phone was purchased Sim unlocked and my next phone will be a Nexus device so the whole Sim unlocking is new territory.

It worked great! I restored the original stock ROM backup I'd made in TWRP and then performed the unlock and it worked. I'm glad too, since it was the 5th try out of 5 tries. I'm now restoring the backup of the CM12.1 that I'd made for her last night and she's got an active phone. Thanks a lot for the confirmation.
No problem. Congratulations?
