Htc one m8? Gta sa? 2 core? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In a video by Chris nacca with cpu core monitor it showed that GTA SA only used 2 cores while 4 was available? What do u think? Why is it so?
Sent from my GT-I9082 using xda app-developers app

because the game is not optimized yet to work on 4 cores thats why its gonna lag on every one of the new devices, meanwhile on galaxy s2 it works fine, and i guess it needs a bit gpu optimization.....

Another TEGRA 3 enhanced game. Where's our love?

So Max Payne is out today and its Tegra 3 enhanced. I had a One X with the Tegra 3 version of Shadow Gun and it had some nice effects over the version I now run on the S3. Is anything going to be developed on Chainfire to allow us to play these advanced versions of these games on our Mali GPU?
My S3 runs ShadowGun, NOVA3, GTA3 and any other advanced game I throw at it no problems (better than my HOX in most cases).
Will there be any Mali enhanced games or do I just have to hope Chainfire pulls a little magic out the bag?
I hope something is cooking for this.

Not for Tegra 3 games at the moment.
I've been playing Max Payne on the S3 and it looks good enough. You can also adjust the screen resolution from inside the game.
Even if the Tegra 3 enhanced version had some better effects I doubt it would make that much difference to the game play. But I do hate it when they give all the good stuff to the Tegra versions.

Nvidia is paying developers to code especially for their Tegra chips. It really has nothing to do with actual power or capability...
I'd like to add that I think 3D games or any hardcore games are terrible on a phone IMHO. Also kills battery life like its no ones business. Give me a big screen and controller any day. Scramble and Words with Friends on the other hand...
Yeah, I get cramps in my hands while playing those games that you need to always keep your thumbs on.. But they are still fun to play around with... It's mostly awesome to just have max payne and gta 3 on my phone

Hanging is good too! Just wish they would make Chess With Friends for Android... God knows why theyre dragging their feet on that one.
Any word on a new version of cf3d been worked on so we can play T3 games.
decent on p920 but no s3d? i'll try chainfire but tegra3? so

Games to truly use S3 power?

Just wondering if there are any games that take full advantage of the quad core chip and Mali GPU?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Games like Nova 3 are heavy gpu eaters but it isnt optimized for quad core cpu's for that well have to wait till such game comes out. As in my opinion cpu doesnt have much effect on gaming performance

Don't bet your head on this one.The S2 plays Tegra 3 games(All I've tried and worked) without sweating too much without even the need to be overclocked.I don't see the reason why they would be hard to play for the S3.Games like NOVA 3 do tax the system too much.I think Gameloft's games aren't as well coded as Dead Trigger for example though.
Anyway,if you want to use the full power of the S3,wait some months until Gameloft releases a game with the Unity Engine they teased the other day.I think that will be worth talking about.

Asphalt 7
The new gameloft games Nova 3 and Asphalt 7 actually look really impressive with all the motion blur effects and stuff. Who needs a ps vita^^ But my SGSIII gets really hot when i play them for a longer time, makes me feel a little uncomfortable Altough i never run into any freezes or anything so far...
I tried GTA 3 and it looks amazing with all graphics settings turned up to their highest. Resolution all the way up and Frame Limiter turned off.
Amazing.

Is HTC one X is the most powerful android phone ?

Title says it all. Is this tegra 3 the most powerful android phone ? Or is there a more powerful device . Specially in gaming

Sure but that doesn't really count as is almost the same in terms of power.

No it isn't.

Im pretty sure the shader effects in tegra takes a lot of RAW performance out of the GPU and games without effects are just boring to look at.

Agreed. In terms of THD gaming however, HTC is indeed the best.
Define Powerful...!
CPU wise no, GPU wise arguable. THD games work well with the HOX and T3.
S4Pro once optimised will possibly be the best CPU on the market, but T4 is due as well. Exynos is pretty powerful as well as shown in the Note 2.

I ran tegra games flawless on my s3 and s2. And it can play games like hox can't play... Like any game not specially optimized for tegra xD gaming experience really sucks on my hox. Still love it and beats s3 in user experience

this is starting to change
GLU games, Sega and EA all run great too without THD certification
as for Gameloft they just fixed wildblood with a tegra specific update it runs very smooth now AND STILL USING ONE CORE, this goes to show that Tegra is a lot more powerful than what some benchmarks make it sound, for instance tegra has 5x the vertex power of the Mali400 on the SGS3 just run the vertex test in GL benchmark and you will be shocked
Mali has better shader and pixel fill rate, Tegra has much better vertex output, so if you want to average the results they are almost equal, unless a game is really shader heavy it will run on the s3 better and if a game is really vertex heavy it will run better on t3, finally both device get the same results in the pixel/shader heavy GL bench 2.5 HD test @720p
finally no, many THD games can not be made to run on the S3, chainfire is old now and hasnt been updated since ages
Shadowgun THD, Horn and many other Tegra games can not be made to run on the S3
the notion of playing Tegra games on other devices has been long dispelled, especially if those games are really Tegra optimized

[Q] Running single core or dual core?

Hi all,
I have a question here.
As the voltage for running a core and four core at 1.6ghz is the same, is it ok to lower it t 1ghz so that it save more juice and it will normally running at dual core. Is it OK to do so?
What's your opinion?

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Why run single core or dual core on a great and efficient quad core beast? It won't really make a difference in battery life because then the cpu's would be under more strain than usual. Although it MIGHT save battery, but not THAT much. Underclocking and undervolting is still probably the best solution you can do if you want even more battery life. But do utilize all 4 cores of this device.

Omg?! Single core use more battery than quad core? I turn it to 1.6ghz single core and move the page up down so.that the CPU is always 100%. And I turned the quad core and do the same things. And realized that the power used is double for single core.

I believe certain cpu governors can disable spare cores in low activity. Like hot plug, abyssplug and pegasusq.

What GPU Do You All Speculate will be in the Note III?

Though the Mali-400 is powerful enough for the typical Mobile gamer for the next couple of years, newer Mobile GPU's will be able to run PS3 games (there has been quite some progress over the years). As a result, Developers may begin writing new games or porting existing games from the PS3 or XBox 360 to the the mobile platform. Neglecting Battery performance, don't you all think it will still be great to finally play some real games?
The ultimate question is,
What GPU Do You All Speculate will be in the Note III?
For your convenience the following is a current comparison of what is currently available on the market,
http://kyokojap.myweb.hinet.net/gpu_gflops/
The iPad 4 is quite powerful; the PowerVR on the Galaxy S4 can achieve in the low 50's in terms of GFLOPS, somewhere below the line of the current iPad 4. (According to AnandTech)
Why not the sgx544 mp3 with a higher clock like all previous generations?

I would speculate the Mali T-628
I would've thought the Note 3 would almost certainly use the Enynos 5 Octo with its SGX544MP3 GPU.
