Hello.
As this is my first thread. I was browsing thru Htc One (m8)'s Themes and apps section and i saw a Harman Kardon audio mod. I'm just asking if it is already available for the One[m7]. [big fan of Harman Kardon ]
Thanks!

I'm not a dev but there's a small group of us on xda sharing intel to make it work. I'll send u the link of the man to talk to. u might have to send some files so he can make it work if he's willing. I tried doing the work myself with some help. it shows in settings but doesn't work cause it needs more work
It's currently impossible to port due to libraries being specifically compiled for the Snapdragon 801 chipset. The same applies for working BoomSound effect on sense 6 ROMs. We won't be having h/k audio anytime soon, maybe in the distant future though (but I highly, highly doubt that!) As for BoomSound, we must wait until official sense 6 update because only HTC can compile the libraries to be compatible for our chipset.

I have BoomSound and it's awesome.. sounds like adding a subwoofer.. when I port hk it replaced BoomSound.. reach out to this guy.. he gave us some ideas to make it work. firmware and maybe 3/4 files need more modding.. if he won't help a professional dev can def make it work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2737498
That's not the point. The reason why it can be ported to all m8 variants is that they all share the same chipset and DAC. The h/k audio cannot be ported due to libaudioflinger. Libaudioflinger is what calls these audio libraries when a particular sound effect is enabled. If the code for the effects are not in libaudioflinger, they will simply not work. Now the thing is, libaudioflinger is compiled very specifically. Firstly, using m8's libaudioflinger so simply make the OS crash at boot. Secondly, our current libaudioflinger does not have the codes for h/k in the library so h/k can't be called. Thirdly, it's not just libaudioflinger that we need to get h/k working, they also depend on hw audio libraries which are obviously chipset specific. If we don't have those dependencies then we won't have this working for our chipset.
We can't simply mod libraries to make it work. This requires complete recompiling with the correct codes which will call the h/k libraries when the audio effect is enabled. Only HTC can do this as they are licensed to have the source code and use it.
Also, how is BoomSound working for you? No sense 6 port have BoomSound working!

That makes a lot of sense on issues were having.. I tested it on m7 viper Rom.. I know everyone say it don't work but when I looked again it said it won't work on internal speaker. So I plug my headset in and when I turned it on it soun ded like I was sitting in a car with a badass bass system. I don't know if it's supposed to do that. I combined it with viper4android because it has similar features like Harmon kardon and doesn't replace existing sound mods like Harmon kardon..

Right, so BoomSound is not working still, what you are hearing is just the work of v4a!
BoomSound is not working at all, weather it's speakers or headphones. Have you tried turning the switch on/off? It won't make a difference. At all.

Maybe it's just some equalizer which maybe sounds like h/K but it never could be the real one especially because like you said h/K needs the m8's specific audio drivers...

Could anybody tell me how to enable this feature for this phone.
Please do not give the obvious answer because I already tried with all zip files uploaded in other threats.
I know there is a manual way for activating this option but I would really appreciate if you can upload a zip file to be directly flashed in this phone.
Thanks in advance

They only work on sony phones. What people are seeing is a placebo effect. Image rendering is part of the system as well deeply embedded in the linux kernel drivers. Placing two files with in system/etc with certain permissions does nothing. The build prop edit also does nothing. It is totally bypassed.
In no way were system files patched or hacked or anyway by this. You would have to hack the image process library and patch the required system files. As well hack and patch apk files that take advantage of this.

I have flashed and noticed nothing. Also there is absolutely no improvement to video or images.
The point is this: this engine port is known to not work at all.
You say youve made it work and your proof is you can hear it. That is silly.
Like the link I posted. Proof gives this credibility and you have no proof.

I can notice the audio different between with the bravia engine and not.
I used to have a sony walkman cell phone and listen at least 1 hour everyday during driving for 2 years. When I switched to the samsung s2 phone and i noticed the S2 audio is weaker then my sony.
I flashed the beastmod 4.0, i can hear the audio is very closed to the sony phone. I noticed the audio different before I've checked the change log, so this is not my mentally thinking. It's the fact.
1 thing I need to clarify, I do hear the big different if I am using my car audio speaker. But if I use the cell phone speaker or the earphone, honestly, I don't notice much. I believe the cell speaker or the earphone can't able to handle the best part. But the bravia engine does work on the samsung S2.
For the video or picture part, I don't know about it.

The bravia engine has nothing to do with the sound. Also it really has nothing to do xcloud. There are a whole bunch of kernel patches for the qualcomm processor online that boost the the volume you hear. By 20%. The qualcomm chip has dsp manager built in. A few tweaks would get the volume louder than what it is.
The bravia engine is image rendering. Which literally does not work. Samsung devices do not even have the correct system files or services which would activate it. This has been done on various devices the only devices its known to work on is xperia arc devices. Also bravia engine has not been open source. Either so you would need to do some serious hacking as well.

The only logical method would be to edit the standard media profiles, hack the camera, and change the way compression works in the gallery. Thats why on other roms its looks diffrent. Than on beastmod. I will also add that sony line only has LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touchscreen. Ours is a super amoled + not only would you have to reverse engineer to get the kernel drivers that make the bravia engine works sinces it is not open source. You would have to port them as well to make it work with super amoled drivers.

yep, clearly - I'm sure that you also do a few things on your Willy I'd never like to try out
But that reports that BE would just be a "dirty trick" (obviously how else you could get bass on 3mm membranes lol) and would break the Android audio system didn't just come from Xeno's dev - I already read about that long before...
But as I also mentioned a few times: I do use my phone for listening to music but I don't own one of these expensive headsets... and I can live with it easily
BTW: don't know when exactly you've tried Xeno - but the headphone calibration (which to me is the essential thing) doesn't exist that long...

Although it's the sound (and the HP calibration) what keeps me sticking with XenoAmp, initially it has been the playlist concept what triggered my attention as I always thought - with any player (I also tried power amp) - it was a hazzle to do a simple playlist on my phone - just quick and easy. Besides those 2 reasons I recently discovered that Xeno can do even more (I never read any manuals unless big fat red warnings to do so). I didn''t know that it also supports shoutcast radio stations (+ planned feature: LAN)
--- EDIT --- and I like the UI of course

What do you mean by it didn't work ? If you mean you didn't get an app or a beats symbol anywhere then pmsl !! It's basically just an audio enhancement and to the naked eye will remain invisible and to the naked ear is also debated if it does much anyway but I personally noticed a bass enhancement. Ok so if you don't notice a difference then try something else,if you do then BONUS.....don't just say it doesn't work !! We can debate this until the cows come home lol some use and some don't final.

What is this?
A mod which significantly boosts ONLY the speaker volume.

How do I activate this?
The volume mod will activate as soon as you enable Beats Audio Beats Audio will act as a switch for the volume booster so your speakers will be louder whilst keeping the Beats Audio effect/processing
This will NOT work for AOSP roms because Beats Audio isn't available on there. Only compatible with Sense and GPE ROMs because we need Beats Audio to activate this. And no, Beats Audio can't be ported on AOSP ROMs.

How did you do it?
First of all, I already had an idea of how to increase the speaker volume. The amp (TFA9887) uses it's own configs in the /system/etc/TFA folder but the problem is, we can't edit most of the files with just using a text editor. We couldn't increase volume using the normal method (edit snd_soc_msm files) because HTC removed all of the speaker lines in the files. Secondly, the only text-editable file I could find was the .eq files. I knew Beats Audio could be enabled via the switch in Settings so I thought it would be a good idea to change some values in the .eq files to increase volume. The main function of equalizers is to increase the decibels of specific frequencies right? That's how I found out that those files could be the ones I've been looking for. My first attempt at increasing the volume was to change the values from 1 to 2. Big mistake. Even though it looks like a small increase, my speakers almost blew up. The audio was LOUD, it was so loud that it caused so much distortion. It was definitely too much for my liking. So I changed the values to 1.0000000001, 1.0000000.1, 1.0000001, 1.0001 etc. and let my tester (@Cj719) test the volume. He told me that there was a slight change in volume so I tested it myself and thought that it wasn't enough. I then changed the values to 1.1. That was the ideal number for the speaker boost. When me and Cj719 tried it, it was just perfect. It was such a drastic change in volume but not as much that it would create distortions or blow up speakers.

Read compatibility section of the OP
You'll need to mount system manually before installing because afaik, Sprint HTC One has different mmcblk for system

You need a custom recovery installed, in TWRP, press on the "Mount" option when you go in the recovery and tick the "Mount system" option.
If you are on CWM, go to the mount options and select the "Mount system" option so after you press it, the text will say "unmount system" leave it at that then install the mod.
I was the tester and I'm on Sprint so yes.... Thanks again Zero probably best mod for the HTC one

This is compatible with all soundmods.
If you are on my soundmod, it is your choice to turn on beats audio. I only say to turn it off because it will sound a lot cleaner.
What I would do is turn on Beats Audio when you are using speakers and turn off Beats Audio when you are using headphones. Alternatively, you could just keep Beats Audio on, it doesn't really matter. I'm just saying that audio with no effects at all will be cleaner when you listen to headphones. It doesn't really matter for speakers.

In TWRP, there's 4 options: System, data, cashe and USB (something)... data and cashe are already ticked, do I un-tick them and tick system or leave them ticked and then tick system?
I'm on a GPE 4.4.2 ROM and flashed it and there was no difference, so I tried the mount system (un-ticked data and cashe) method and heard no difference in volume so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

While rummaging thru the default.xml file to change a setting...I noticed a line in there pertaining to support_beats_audio false...While highly unlikely, I wonder what would happen if that was changed to true!!

I did change the value to "true"... rebooted and yes, the settings menu now has the option to enable beats once again... why disabled by default though??

Because Beats and HTC have parted ways so HTC no longer have a licence to include Beats Audio in their phones...

Same here. Now I have options. I like options.
Where exactly is this default.xml? system/customize/acc? Have you guys noticed any improvement with the beats set to true?

Doesn't seem to make much difference. Set both to true and it wont let me disable Boom for speakers but you can toggle between them for headphones. Again didn't seem to make a massive difference.

Yup
If beats is no longer with HTC why still have the code for it. Also it stops boom sound from changing when toggled off.
I've got pretty good hearing and I'll go out on a limb and say, while the beats toggle may be there just enabling it in the xml file doesn't enable the one touch EQ profile know as beats. I think it's just some junk code in the GUI that was left from previous versions or never completed after the split with beats audio Inc. I'm kinda sad as I generally like the beats sound profile and feel it works well with all pop music genres with a conveniece of being 1 button push and done. Boom sound just sounds louder and more distorted to me.

Because that code is just one line in default.xml
and HTC tries to keep a rather common Sense 6 which just needs to be adjusted to the devices.

You are right, there´s no effect at all as the beats audio libs are missing

Also don't try to flash anything beats related or download the beats installer because it will bootloop your phone.
Maybe since sense 6 m7 has beats someone can port it to the M8 as long as it s only software needed.
i have M8 , but how can i find that .xml to true it
Harman kardan audio can also be enabled in that same default.xml but like beats, libs are missing, had no effect.
Emm Eight
When the harmann/kardon phone is out and there imwill be a system dump someone for sure would take those libs etc or even zeroinfinity would made an awesome sound package with that

Dude you don't need to set the things to true as sound will stay the same...the libs for beats and harmann/kardon aren't inside also you can use a root explorer and use its search function in root and search for default.xml

Just a simple flashy that will completely disable Beats audio on most Sense 6.0 ROMs. This was only tested on the official stock ROM so no promises of compatibility elsewhere. Just download and flash to free yourself!
This also enables the Music Channel feature of Sense 6.0 that Verizon or someone decided to disable.
This mod was created by FlyHalf205. So go find a post of his and thank it.

You can but there is a counter-eq that makes music sound worse, that way it forces you to leave beats on.
is beats that bad sounding? i don't mind it. is there a benefit to using this?

The benefit is quite a noticeable difference in highs and mids. Lows are returned to their normal levels and no longer overpower the mix.
It lets you enjoy just how good this phone sounds.

Makes sense, I always suspected sound quality with beats turned off was sabotaged to make beats seem better by comparison. This is something you can find in the code? Is this something that would also be true in Google Play roms? Or is the beats-disabled sound only dulled in Sense?

Either reflash the ROM or restore the backup you made before you installed it.

Worked like a charm, though I'm on ERA now and have Beats disabled anyway.
Thanks for the Mod. I've used it to remove Beats on my T-Mobile M7 Headset running ARHD 91.1.
I flashed this, not realizing that it's for only for a Verizon M7 headset. Everything still works (and Beats is now removed), but I have a SIM Card error in my notification bar. Any idea how I can fix this? It's more of an annoyance at this point.
Thanks again.
Can this be updated or will it work for Sense 7?

Sorry, I'm on the Nexus 6 now, so no it won't be updated.
See if you can dig around and figure it out.
If anyone figures out how to do this could they make a version for 5.1.1 GPE?
