Hello, after a long abuse at the beach. My friend's xperia acro s always have red led notification light lit, phone appears to be always charging, it had been 2 months since then, tried all things. factory reset, notification apps etc nothing. Can rooting and changing rom can solve it? I ask cause we never rooted and I am afraid we will mess something, is it worth it to try? Local warranty says board need to be changed but it's pricy and we hear a lot of bad rep about them
a mobile repair shop said to change software, cheers

The issue seems to be hardware related but to remove all doubt
flash the stock ftf for acro s using flashtool.
if the led is still on, then the issue is hardware related and must be fixed internally

Hi, when i open my gamepad slightly my screen will flash black, and if i hold it in a certain positionbit will stay black until moved.
This also happens sometimes when picking up my phone
Is it a loose cable or something?
Should i get it replaced?
Rooted stock R800i, .42
Thanks
Probably the ribbon cable inside the slider. It's a known defective part.

So i could claim it on my warranty?
I got this problem too. But mine worse, sometimes when I wanna type a message the screen goes black, or the screen's light go like disco light, keep blinking at the home page and camera. I sent to Sony Centre to claim warranty but after few days they returned me and told me it was a software problem. Could this be kernel problem?
Yeah, sometimes just touching the screen can do it
I want to unroot before i cant see anything haha
Ive noticed that its just the backlight that goes off, if i make it go black and look at the screen in light i can still see the things there
Im going to request a replacement regardless, starting to annoy me
I tried to reinstall stock firmware but no use. Still the same. I'm gonna tear everything apart and take a look at the ribbon.

DO NOT I repeat, DO NOT take it apart!!
Once you do that your warranty is void permanently and no way to hide it! I can guarantee it's not your software. Revert it to absolute perfect stock and show them it still happens. I'm positive it's the hardware, NOT software.
If they don't wanna fix it after factory restoring, threaten to call head office about it because you already know it's hardware error and they are refusing.
And also mention that many people on the internet are aware that the slider cable is faulty, many have replaced it and fixed the same problem you have.
I'm thinking of mailing them, and requesting they have a recall because more and more people are having the same problem.

Ok, the screen only flashes black on SYSTEM APPS. The installed apps dont have this issue
Seems to have happened after i rooted
Any new ideas?
Okay. Thanks captain. I will follow your orders.
Ok, so ive tried to claim on my warrenty. They said they were gunna send a packet out to return the phone for repair. This was a few weeks ago. Within this time i have called them up 3 extra times stating i havnt recieved the pack.
Is this easy enough to fix myself as im bored of waiting for them and im doubting im ever going to recieve any repair
Thanks

It seems I'm having issues with my 6506 ZL and I don't know if it's related to the Battery bug issue, and/or something else - so I've come to my brothers and sisters here to help :good:
1. The phone will not boot unless it's plugged in (either through USB or the wall charger) as once it hits the Sony logo (or animation) it will turn off.
2. Once I manage to get in, I'm able to use the phone with no issues
3. ..and when I unplug the phone again, if I leave it alone, I'm able to do basic things like use the unlock screen go to different homepages, and open the app drawer
4. If I select a widget, app, or go into settings, the phone turns off.
Since an update wasn't available via the PCC or SUS, I flashed the most recent firmware 10.3.1.A.0.244 myself, and it doesn't seem to help the issue so I'm led to believe it's a problem with the hardware itself - maybe a sensor or something that reads the battery as dead?
Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I can try doing, or am I SOL and need to send it to Sony repair (and potentially have to pay to fix it)? Any help or input would be greatly appreciated
Did u tried to contact Sony? They can replace your phone for free.

They don't seem to be much help - they're trying to pawn it off to my carrier to repair

I'm in Canada. I bought the phone second hand, through kijiji.ca - it was locked to one carrier (Bell) and I'm with Rogers, so I had to get it unlocked. The rep kept insisting that I have to send it through Bell since it's "their" phone

There are ROMs available that allow you to unlock it and install any SIM card. I bought mine from Amazon unlocked.

Thanks for the info - I'll keep that in mind for the future, now that I'm semi-comfortable flashing roms :/ Judging by the way he was grilling me, I don't think Sony would accept a modified phone anyway to repair.
But based on my issue, I'm lead to believe it's a hardware issue. Should I try flashing another rom to see if it improves (though I still need to figure out this business about kernels)
Update:
Sony is going to send me a coffin so I can ship my phone to them to get repaired. I have a feeling that they're going to ask for a proof of purchase, however, this phone was given to me as a gift, and the guy who gave it to me is only here 6 months out of the year...am I SOL? any kind soul out there have a bill I could "borrow"?
Sony Xperia ZL C6505 woes
I know this is a bit late (as the post is dated), but it is a hardware issue.
I had the exact same issue, and I managed to figure out the pattern to get past the "boot loop". I do believe it is a board issue, where there has to be some controller that lets the phone know when the battery is dead or not. And I'm 95% sure, its the heat generated by the phone that has ruined that component. Sony makes very excellent products (I've had a number of them- PSP, PS Vita, 2 Sony Vaio laptops), but sometimes when they make silly mistakes- like failing to properly dissipate heat from a handheld device running a quad-core processor. Never had any heat issues with the pSP or PS Vita, but definitely with the two VAIO laptops.
In this instance, I at first thought it was the phone battery, but i ran CPU-z utility on the phone, and it found the battery life to be good. I then took it to a place to change the battery (believing it was a false reading), but they confirmed the battery was good. The phone was experiencing a board issue.
So definitely no firmware flash or Android OS update is going to fix that. It may fix the issue in the future if it prevents some Android OS/Google system component from running the system hot. My phone is on Android OS 4.1.2, and when the battery level fell below 40%, it would start to get hot (roughly 65-70 Celsius); sometimes apps to help cool the phone would drop temperature to 42 Celsius.
Hello peoples from xda
My phone recently has the problem of the fuzzy screen.
I bought a new flex cable and I replace but after that my XPERIA don't boot anymore...
The Mobile no sign of life, he does not boot, does not vibrate, however when I put to charge the led turns green.
I'm quite sure I installed the flex cable properly,I'm afraid of being is in the some part of motherboard, in the boot part.
I do not see any visibly damaged part...
PS: I never installed any rom

I'm so sorry to hear it. but, i think you should check again and try to remember when you try to repair it, is there something you forgot? or anything? if you really sure. i think you should give a chance to SONY Center to check it.
Hello everyone!
My Xperia S is just 6 months old but yesterday I had a huge problem.
I have unlocked bootloader and rooted device with miui 3.11.22 .96 based with the stock kernel.
I received a call and bam black screen (I did not fall). The device remained in that state but appears to be functional, led is working, I heard a ringtone and vibration is working and the illumination bar too but the screen vibrated on touch (even though I did disable that function). I said maybe if I restarted it, and I did but nothing! I removed the sim card and I got a purplish tint and then back to black. I even tried to enter recovery but no display there too.
I tried with SUS but then I read it doesn't work with unlocked bootloader, so I tried EMMA and it flashed .200 on the device. When I restarted the phone, the recovery led is gone and the screen is still black and the phone no longer responds to any touches but still charges fine so I tried with flashtool and flashed .96 and same thing, the only difference is that at some point it seems to boot up and functions are working properly and sometimes it flashed some random colors and then shuts off.
Is the screen physically damaged? What could be the problem? I have never seen a phone break by itself while sitting on the table!!
We do not have a sony repair care in Tunisia, so all I can do really is take it to a local shop (Xperia S is quite rare in my country).
Thanks you for bearing with me and thanks in advance for your invaluable help, I am quite desperate!!
your screen seems to be damaged
if you flash 96 without any issues then its nothing to do with your system
my xs flashes with some random colors and crashes soon after (not sure if its a common xs issue)
conclution - your screen is broken somehow , probably worn out or faulty to begin with

hi I've been bought single xm last month..and now i'm facing for annoying problem which is my sound from speakers doesnt come out.. But if I plug earphone the sounds are come out.. I've been searching on Google but other ppl have same issue with no answer for this problem.. I really appreciate who give my answer for this problems..thx
It sounds like your handset is still detecting that the headphones are plugged in even when they are not. I used to have this problem with my Miro, all I had to do was reboot the phone and that would solve it until it happened again. I don't know the root cause of it so I can't help all that much.
sounds like a hardware problem, its only a month old get it back to sony centre for repair under warranty take any root if you have it off aswell before you take it also no unlocked bootloader as this voids the warranty
