Maybe try to reinstall the launcher that you're using?
Yeah first thing I tried and isnt that, dont want to go through it all flashing the rom again

LOL, well I guess you can try another launcher beside the one you use. If that still doesn't work I'm afraid you may need to go though the flashing ROM again.
Should've done a nandroid backup before trying something like debloat. I know hey, tempted by the devil, I've done something pretty risky without backup before as well. At the end, I landed up doing a clean ROM install 3 times in one day.

I just installed bugless, don't like it, I want to try out Damage, I'm using ROM Manager, do I have to uninstall bugless 1st, or can I just go to ROM Manager and install another rom over what I have now?
My phone doesnt have any apps or anything that I need to back up.

just install damage next, just select wipe when it asks you in rom manager
You just flash the new rom. If you ever switch 'base build #'s', like android base 2.1 to 2.2 for example, then you should clear you cache and all data before flashing.
It would be a good idea to check make a backup in rom manager just in case something goes strange during the new flash.

so the wipe practically removes the previous install....doesnt leave anything behind?

yes, it basically starts fresh. Wipes the data, cache, etc.
By the way, only reason im leaving bugless is Sprint Nav, TV and Voicemail are gone....these aren't available to install individually?
Well, and also leaving it bcus it wasn't quite bugless, was giving erros when changing settings on the phone, and while using some of the phones features.

Gee, maybe if you would of took my advice to begin with over at AF, and just started flashing them all and try them out. They all have pros and cons, it's all about what works best for you
Just an FYI, try out damage control, it's got everything you want. If there is anything you don't want just delete it. Same with fresh.
Installed Damage Control...will be a keeper.

Also depending on how your rooted, you can use a file manager to delete the apps that you don't want.

I used that step by step tutorial posted on AF.
Only think im wondering about is when i originaly installed bugless it was via ROM Manager, and when it asks you do you want to backup current ROM and wipe, I said yes to both, wasnt sure what ROM it was backing up as the only thing so far I had done to my phone was going through the full root process.
this time around when I installed DC I didnt select the option in ROM Manager to backup current ROM, still not sure it that questions pertains to the current installed rom, or the one being installed.....but in any case my internal phone storage says 313, and SD out of 7.41 5.85 is avail.
I used Astro to see if I identified anything from previous rom, but then again I wouldnt even know what to look for....hopefully I don't have any useless files lingering around taking up space.

The one that you are backing up is the one that you are currently using. It is always a good idea to backup the current Rom. I always do right after I flash and verify everything is golden, and also after I get everything set up.
I find it easier just gong through recovery, than using the rom manager.

Yeah rom manager took about an hour, not sure why....i was afraid to stop it mid stream and do it manually.
In anycase Damage Control is perfect, I also added Launcher Pro, that way I can switch to sense once in a while, or the launcher that was on the rom, or launcher pro, this way I can switch it up once in a while to not get bored...other than that this rom is perfect, bugless had too many issues, and was too blah.

Hello Everyone,
Is there a way to extract the Acer OEM apps which come bundled with the stock ICS ROM, such as Planner, Acer Media, MusicA etc, so that I can install them later in custom ROMs such as CM9 on the A100? I tried using Titanium Backup, which would backup the apps fine from the official ROM but fails to restore the OEM apps when I am running a custom ROM I love using the Acer Media, MusicA, Planner apps and severely miss them when I am running a custom ROM. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ...

That's likely due to the framework Acer uses. Also, bad idea restoring system apps and data. Never a good idea.
However, what you can try to do instead is pull the APK and install as user data instead, flex reaper thread has a zip with the "bloat" software in it, give that a try. I'll see about pulling them from the ROM itself and pushing it to my tab on CM9 or CM10 and see if it takes. I doubt it, though. It'll have to be a little bit, probably tomorrow.

Thanks a lot pio. I will give that a try. Yeah, I found out restoring system apps and data was really a bad idea. This is my first Android device and I am learning about the nooks and corners as I go..

No problem, just take it slow, and check if you have any questions before doing something you might regret later :good:

Glad it worked out and thanks for reporting that, now someone else can do it if they want.

Hi,
I am on stock ROM with JB 4.1 and wanted to disable the Google search bar present in all the screens. I did a search and found that disabling it from "All Apps" removes it from the homescreen and so I tried that. What it does is removes the Google search bar, but the space occupied by it is still present with a rectangular patch and I cant place any widgets in that space. Can someone please tell me how to permanently remove the search bar.
P.S - My phone is not rooted!!!! Its new and I want to enjoy stock till I can...
Just root the phone and don't install a custom rom, thus you will still be stock except for the SU app. Then you can remove the search bar all together and gain that space back. This way you can enjoy the STOCK rom too. Although if you remove the search you technically aren't stock anymore.

Install nova or apex launcher, you can enable/disable the search bar or just have it only on one screen and not all.

How do you do this?
Couldnt get any other rom than stock working - WIFI just didnt want to work. Tried everything.
I am on rooted stock.
I would like to know is there a list of bloatware/system apps anywhere someone can post that I can safely remove?
Thank you.

Thanks. Works on 5t as well ?
As the titles says, I want to completely remove the stock launcher (like it never existed) and install some other launcher (as if this was the only and stock launcher).
Bascially, This thread explains the problem in details.
I am on custom rom and rooted so I want to know how to make any launcher (lets say Lawn chair 2) stock/native from scratch and completely remove the stock one.

That is actually very hard, I personally like the pixel launcher on my custom roms and sometimes it doesn't work right. I always recommend switching first to see if the launcher works fully. Than since your rooted use magisk system debloater module off the manager. If you're on Android 11 than I don't know normally it doesn't read the partition layouts properly and doesn't work but you can try it. They need to update it for Android 11 but with the super partitions it makes it very difficult.

Yeah you could get rid of it via Root. There is a good app on the Play Store called something like System App Remover/Uninstaller? You could also try Magisk Modules!

That app doesn't work right anymore at least not on Samsung one ui. I don't know on Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi. But everything with the system partition is different now. It basically doesn't matter if you're rooted you can't touch otherwise it bootloops. I would recommend making a twrp backup first than try whatever you like.
what about using adb? have you try using adb to uninstall it?
I someone managed to uninstall the stock launcher and install lawn chair 2 as native but in the process, i lost home navigation gestures, 2 button and 3 button navigation options.
Had to reinstall the rom all over again

Yikes. Yeah yesterday I was almost going to say, be careful when uninstalling system apps. Its worth mentioning that the latest MIUI doesn't support Gestures on Third-Party Launchers, but you probably already know that.
Instead of clean-flashing, It may have been possible to dirty-flash the same ROM (with same version), to get Stock Launcher back without losing /data

I did dirty flash first. Neither the launcher came back nor the gestures. Then google kept crashing since I didn't flash gapps knowing it is dirty flash so i don't need to flash gapps. All gapps started crashing and didn't work. So I flashed gapps but they still kept crashing so I said "fk it, i'll clean everything".
You have to systemize the app (you need root to do this). I wouldn't recommend deleting the stock launcher just incase your new launcher breaks
Try oneplus launcher magisk module.
Works well, looks well.

Wait, does it work on MIUI? Does it include "Recents"?
No luck with MIUI, gestures wont work.
It includes recents. Lots of settings.
