[Q] Flashtool, where to find updateurls and CDFIDs - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm having issues because my Z1C doesn't recognize the Sim cards.
I have thinking in going back to the Branded version that came with the phone and I just saw that the Flash Tool included a new functionality for it:
* 0.9.16
- In Devices menu->Manage : You can now add updateurl and edit CDFID to check for each device where updateurl exists.
My device customization is 1280-7858 ID 1177.
But Where can I find out the updateurl ?
Cheers
JD Evora

http://fuas.sonymobile.com/fuas/ser...mat=delta,image&channel=cable&cdfId=1280-7858

Thank you a lot....
It worked like a charm....
But I thought that I could some how download/reinstall that version from Flash tool
Do you know, for any chance, how to get the latest version for that customization?
cheers

Hello
Before the 3day search for the rom !!!!,I join my voice to your voice where can I find any rom for this phone Motorola xt532?
B.Regards
The XT532 is very Similar to the XT530 .. we are working on a ROM for them both but first would like to port the new kernel from your phone the XT532 to the XT530 so it would be really helpful if you have the XT532 if you could do a ROM dump and post the link ...
Thank you !!!
I do have he stock rom for the taiwanese version of XT532. I can upload when I am back home.

[Q] Noob proof rooting

Hi,
I just received my first smartphone and am really excited about it Aaaand ... I'm totally new to Android and the whole rooting & Custom firmware process
I want to root to Backup my TA before unlocking BL and was looking at zxz0O0's guide. There are now quite a few versions of the z1c dual recovery from NUT. I am on Android 4.3. Can I simply use the latest version?
Thanks a lot!
latest version is appropriate 2.7.99 (not tried it yet) as I rooted mine before KK came using 2.7.95
perfect, thanks for the information. Will give it a try and hope not to brick anything

I think it's safe to say that version 2.7.97 does not properly work so make sure to not use that version.

Cm11 - need help flashing new baseband

Hi,
Does anyone know how to flash/update a new baseband? I've tried to use flashtool but haven't got it to work. Flashtool says it went good but the baseband has still the same version (39). I want to update to (51)
Baseband version is not read off the partition, it's hard coded into the ROM - so show's version the ROM you are using originally came with. Rest assured so long as flash was successful you have upgraded the baseband.

OK, thank you for your reply. So is there any way to se the actual version of the baseband?
No need for thanks, just hit the button :good:
I don't think you actually can in any simple way. I struggle to think when you are best off with anything but the latest baseband so you just flash it and leave it alone until Sony bring out another major update... Technically I suppose you could rip it from the handset onto PC and search it for a version number or something amongst all the code if you really wanted to find out but I don't know if it's even there in plain text - never looked - and I see no reason to need to do it.
Aside from that they should either fix that little bug in Android or just take the whole baseband info out if they can't.

Are you sure?
So we should find the baseband version defined in the device specific tree - but i see nothing there...
Where do you get the info about hardcoding?
I read it on here somewhere ages ago I am sure. I always wondered why the baseband changed testing out ROM's on the T. 90% of the time I never flashed a baseband or the ROM didn't even include one yet the last 2 digits at least always changed. It could be different on the Z1C to the T but I wouldn't have thought so... If someone proves me wrong I apologise. Literally been using this phone a few hours and it's great. I am thinking keep this one on stock for now, just root and xposed my way into freedom and enjoy the thing its a real nice phone.

Well, flash any 4.1 firmware, change the regional code inside build.prop and update via pc companion, if unlocked bootloader, download update, create firmware file and flash it.
Cheers!!!
i've already tried CE and other versions of 4.3, even succeed to flash indian 1904, did work but it didnt feel good, updates for programs came later then on other roms, but somehow the first ROM i had on it felt best. I did find 4.3 version but initial, nope...

What's wrong with flashtool?
https://github.com/Androxyde/Flashtool
Download button is on the right hand side underneath 'Clone in desktop' button... This will flash anything anywhere anytime.... just put yr Kk ftf file into the Flashtool firmwares folder and it will show up as a choice to flash.... Job Done
Or.... you could download the Android SDK and use adb to flash your ROM but there's a bit more to understanding how to work with a CMD window opened in platform-tools folder to run the adb.
https://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/index.html
If you have a Z1 compact I find it odd that you have a slower device with lollipo on board.... or is it stock lollipop...? Custom lollipop ROM's run like the wind on my Z1 cos there's no bloat to clog it up and fill up the RAM.... minimal Google apps ensure it runs fast and the control over how yr handset runs is yours.... not Googles

I downloaded the flashtool (zip file) and tried to open it but it gives me a error when i attempt to run ''Flashtool.exe'' (under ProgramExe file)
"i have already a kitkat ftf file but not a workable flashtool."
This makes it sound like you've got a 'broken' flashtool .... ..... but I'm now guessing you've never used one before and that is why it's not 'workable'....?
If you've never used flashtool before then you need to read thru the thread at the beginning of this forum in the General section.

Hello, thanks for your reply.
Yes, i am new to the flashtool stuff. Before this i manually updated my mobile phone to lollipop ugrade with a step by step approach.
The file you provided i could not open it. I will take a look in the thread you provided.
Update : I managed to use ''sony mobile flasher by androxyde'' to put a kitkat firmware on my phone and it succeeded.
I just dont know if this version i put is the official one. If you could give me a link to the official kitkat version for z1 compact(yes i searched but couldnt find anything) it would help a lot.

Hello,
Yes it is running smooth. No lags, just like the day i bought it.
Sony logo is present at boot, yes. Maybe some stuff look a bit different because i was getting used to lollipop ! ?
Additional info :
build number : 14.4.A.0.157
android version : 4.4.4
I really cant remember where i downloaded the ftf file but it was not a official website, i think.

The best way to speed up your device is to manage the limited RAM resource that such a small computer can have built into such a tiny space. Unwanted bloatware and 'uncontrolled' background applications use up too much RAM as ideally you should aim to never be using more than 30% of total RAM with the device just turned on and loaded...so when you open an app or go online to browse you have plenty of space to shuffle stuff around..... and that's why the clever guys here design Custom ROM's which run much faster because they are tuned to be more efficient than stock.
If you add to that having root access and the total control that comes with it you can end up with a much faster device by ensuring you only have the apps on board that you use and that none of them are running in the background unnecessarily. You can monitor your RAM and cache usage and learn how to adjust your app settings to get the best out of what you have constantly.
It's like any machine ... off the shelf works.... but if you tune it for optimum performance you'll get much more from it.

Indeed as Spudata rightly notes those letters represent regions and so you can tell from that your KK ftf you obtained and flashed is a customised from Russian origin. I would guess that when you first booted into set-up and were asked to select the language it 'may' have been on Russian by default and you had to scroll down to select your language of choice....?
If you ever decide to try out taking full control of your device and experiece the full power it has then the best time to experiment is when you get a new one so you can keep your old one to play with in case you manage to do some irreversible damage, tho that happening is becoming far less frequent with the tools that we have available nowadays thanks to the awesome work of the clever people who work to develop them and share here on XDA.
Enjoy
Thank you for reply guys.
@Lightning,
Yes indeed, i do not know if it was Russian but it was Cyrilic for sure, so yes most likely it is a Russian version. I assume there are also EURO versions out there ? Would it not be better for me to put a EU version ? ( I am from Netherlands).
Indeed, i am trying to learn more from you guys, after i have found my ideal firmware i am planning to put 4k video recording on the device and so on.
