What's wrong with flashtool?

https://github.com/Androxyde/Flashtool
Download button is on the right hand side underneath 'Clone in desktop' button... This will flash anything anywhere anytime.... just put yr Kk ftf file into the Flashtool firmwares folder and it will show up as a choice to flash.... Job Done
Or.... you could download the Android SDK and use adb to flash your ROM but there's a bit more to understanding how to work with a CMD window opened in platform-tools folder to run the adb.
https://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/index.html
If you have a Z1 compact I find it odd that you have a slower device with lollipo on board.... or is it stock lollipop...? Custom lollipop ROM's run like the wind on my Z1 cos there's no bloat to clog it up and fill up the RAM.... minimal Google apps ensure it runs fast and the control over how yr handset runs is yours.... not Googles

Hello, thanks for your reply.
I downloaded the flashtool (zip file) and tried to open it but it gives me a error when i attempt to run ''Flashtool.exe'' (under ProgramExe file)

"i have already a kitkat ftf file but not a workable flashtool."
This makes it sound like you've got a 'broken' flashtool .... ..... but I'm now guessing you've never used one before and that is why it's not 'workable'....?
If you've never used flashtool before then you need to read thru the thread at the beginning of this forum in the General section.

Hello, thanks for your reply.
Yes, i am new to the flashtool stuff. Before this i manually updated my mobile phone to lollipop ugrade with a step by step approach.
The file you provided i could not open it. I will take a look in the thread you provided.

Update : I managed to use ''sony mobile flasher by androxyde'' to put a kitkat firmware on my phone and it succeeded.
I just dont know if this version i put is the official one. If you could give me a link to the official kitkat version for z1 compact(yes i searched but couldnt find anything) it would help a lot.

Hello,
Yes it is running smooth. No lags, just like the day i bought it.
Sony logo is present at boot, yes. Maybe some stuff look a bit different because i was getting used to lollipop ! ?
Additional info :
build number : 14.4.A.0.157
android version : 4.4.4
I really cant remember where i downloaded the ftf file but it was not a official website, i think.

A question : Will a lower firmware (example 4.2 or 4.3 ) have a positive effect on the RAM ? for example phone being faster.

I just recharged my phone within 10 minutes up to 50% ! Seems the KK firmware has indeed a positive effect on the battery. I am going to try JB and find out what it does on the battery and let you guys know.

The best way to speed up your device is to manage the limited RAM resource that such a small computer can have built into such a tiny space. Unwanted bloatware and 'uncontrolled' background applications use up too much RAM as ideally you should aim to never be using more than 30% of total RAM with the device just turned on and loaded...so when you open an app or go online to browse you have plenty of space to shuffle stuff around..... and that's why the clever guys here design Custom ROM's which run much faster because they are tuned to be more efficient than stock.
If you add to that having root access and the total control that comes with it you can end up with a much faster device by ensuring you only have the apps on board that you use and that none of them are running in the background unnecessarily. You can monitor your RAM and cache usage and learn how to adjust your app settings to get the best out of what you have constantly.
It's like any machine ... off the shelf works.... but if you tune it for optimum performance you'll get much more from it.

Indeed as Spudata rightly notes those letters represent regions and so you can tell from that your KK ftf you obtained and flashed is a customised from Russian origin. I would guess that when you first booted into set-up and were asked to select the language it 'may' have been on Russian by default and you had to scroll down to select your language of choice....?
If you ever decide to try out taking full control of your device and experiece the full power it has then the best time to experiment is when you get a new one so you can keep your old one to play with in case you manage to do some irreversible damage, tho that happening is becoming far less frequent with the tools that we have available nowadays thanks to the awesome work of the clever people who work to develop them and share here on XDA.
Enjoy

Thank you for reply guys.
@Lightning,
Yes indeed, i do not know if it was Russian but it was Cyrilic for sure, so yes most likely it is a Russian version. I assume there are also EURO versions out there ? Would it not be better for me to put a EU version ? ( I am from Netherlands).
Indeed, i am trying to learn more from you guys, after i have found my ideal firmware i am planning to put 4k video recording on the device and so on.

If your device is new I suggest you not to root it before you know what you are doing. Rooting your device will void your warranty. I suggest you to ask the people in the store where you bought it if there is some problems if you do so (I did it this way and they said its fine if I dont brick it myself). If you think you know enough to proceed there you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930197 . Also I suggest you to install custom ROM because its way faster then stock OS. There is other way, check the topic for games available for A101 and check if the version matches with the one you've downloaded from PlayStore.

yes it's new .. i will wait the warranty to end , after that i will root it ..
but please ,, i have some questions , i hope you will answer me..
1.. you advise me to install a custom ROM as its faster ,, doesn't rooting include installing it ? or rooting is a step and installing a custom ROM is a separated step which i can ignore ?
2..the topics you gave has a lot of firmwares which one to use ? how do i know ?
3.is it true that with rooting i can download paid apps for free ?
i know this is far away from the main topic , but i need to know every thing about rooting , as it a little bit confusing me ..

1.First you root your device by installing Special Developer Edition of android called also SDE and then install the custom rom over it. Your device remains rooted with the custom rom.
2. The firmwares are just firmware versions released by Archos. Download the latest one and all the files with the same number for the correct firmware. If you like to proceed ofcourse.

Request for Japanese SHARP DIAG driver!

Hi, I have a SHARP SH-06E and I successfully turned on its DIAG mode.
Now I have some devices not recognized, the HW IDs are below:
USB\VID_04DD&PID_96CD&REV_0228&MI_02
USB\VID_04DD&PID_96CD&MI_02
USB\VID_04DD&PID_96CD&REV_0228&MI_03
USB\VID_04DD&PID_96CD&MI_03
I cannot find its driver anywhere...
Can I mod the HTC/Moto one and force it installed? I want to use QPST to explore its internals.

Temp root, and then run this it will allow DIAG.
Then setprop, see init.qcom.rc for details.
IIUC, diag mode drivers should be same for all Snapdragon (600 here) devices. Anyway it's pretty easy to edit driver ID and force installation.
Please keep us in touch, enabling QPST access will be great.
Also maybe you know is there any way to enter recovery without ADB?

No, I'm afraid not. Sharp's (and all of Japanese manufacturers') smartphones use highly customized versions of Android. Your only chance to upgrade to a higher version is when Sharp/Docomo release it. Still, you will need to have installed all minor (software) updates before that. What this means: Once a new version of Android is released, send your phone to someone in Japan (e.g. the seller you bought it from) to update to latest build version, then upgrade Android, then return to you. Everything else - you risk bricking the phone.
What you can do now that you have root... Install Titanium Backup Pro to make backups of /system apps, then uninstall them (but make sure you read on Japanese sites what can and what can't be disabled unless you want to brick your phone).
Another thing you can do is install Link2SD to integrate updates of built-in apps into /system (overwrite the built in apps with newer versions). This, however, is not really necessary now that the phones come with 8-16 GB of onboard storage -- used to be important for phones like my 005SH or SH-01D where available ROM space was 200 MB and 850 MB respectively.
Yet another thing you can do is install AutoStarts to disable certain apps from launching when the phone boots, e.g. OneSeg TV and many others -- this will make the phone work faster. But then again, the SH-06E is pretty powerful... how much faster do you want it to be?

Thank you very much for this reply! That's very kind of you. My phone has some little fault (software). When I'm using the lock screen (trying to unlock) the phone resets itself. That's the one problem I have at the moment. My sharp is new and really great but I have little kids and I'm afraid that one day they may use my phone.
I thought if my phone is rooted I can upgrade the system to kitkat or normal jellybean ( not branded) and fix that problem.
Looks like I have only two options. Sell it on ebay or try it to do some upgrade. There are some apps on google play, maybe mobile odin pro or something? Any ideas?

Hm... resetting when unlocking the screen... sounds weird. A friend has this phone, and my brother is still waiting to receive his in the next couple of days. But I haven't heard of any such issue with it. What is your build version? The latest one is 1.00.07. I read in the updates list that various bugs have been fixed but no mention of yours.
Have you disabled any apps? Maybe you can try re-enabling everything, then resetting to factory settings --- NEVER reset to factory setting if you have disabled any apps. Not sure about a rooted SH-06E.
I am sure that Android 4.3 will roll out some time this year for the SH-06E. You can upgrade it then. I might be able to help you with that but we'll see once the update comes out.
I did uninstall actually some apps but after when I restored the system everything was ok until I started to install google apps and the others. There may be some conflict. But obviously I'm not sure.
This phone is really pretty so perhaps I will not take a risk but who knows...
It would be nice if you could help me with installation of android 4.3. I have tired to find some information on Japanese websites, a there is some "img files" but those files are to small so perhaps it's not the system.
My build version is 1.00.07.
Kind regards
A little correction. I think I know what the problem is. I did not make an update of google keyboard and the problem gone. At this moment of course, after all day of using my Sharp. I hope this can be helpful for somebody.
Have you finally managed to get QPST worked?
I really want to use EDGE on my SH-06E but it seems that I have to enable it myself with QXDM.
I saw some Japaneses use HTC Diag driver on Xperia Z Ultra and it worked. Perhaps it would work with SH-06E.

Hi Surfinette !
Nice to see a girl here !
Actually, I don't have my device rooted anymore since I bought my Samsung Note II,
- because I need it to be stock in order to get my business mails,
- because I understood I did not need it really... what for ? I can install all of the apps I want, I can develop my own apps with AIDE
- because I don't need my device to be running on a custom ROM as stock Samsung ROM already contains all options I need
...
So yes, I still would like to install this new 4.3 SAMMY's ROM, which I am waiting for so long...
However, I share your disappointment, regarding you needs and wishes

U can try it. Just remember that KNoX thing won't allow u to revert back to 4.1.2

You can ofcourse revert back to 4.1.2 or any other version - you will just loose the ability to run KNOX ever again.

However, I share your disappointment, regarding you needs and wishes
... no thanks
-> edit 1 : I found the right link : here
-> edit 2 : for interested poople, rooting guide is here
Thanks
Nico

Even if I didn't care for a custom Rom, I would want to be rooted, in order to use truly battery-saving apps, add-killing apps, kill some useless system bloatware, use a more efficient kernel, use a firewall to prevent many apps to connect to the internet against my will (and sending whatever data to whatever server without me knowing what they are sending behind my back),...

Thanks buddy for your links. The one you sent to me is generic India firmware, yesterday i found out Generic World UK version from this site:
http://forumobileservice.blogspot.it/2013/08/sony-official-firmware.html
Are there so many differences between each countries releases? Is there a global version?
Thanks
I think the differences between them are extra apps included and languages. Main parts are same.
If you flash ftf file with Flashtool, there is an option "Exclude TA" to swipe "simlock.ta" in firmware, then you can use normaly.

Ok clear, thanks Just last question, Do you suggest to update to stock ICS instead of stock GB? Is GB overall better than ICS?I heard that stock ics is little worse (laggier)..
Thanks
Yes, stock GB is smoother than stock ICS. But it miss alot of features, and some new apps dont support GB, e.g: new Gmail app. I have a backup android phone run GB, the last time I check, gmail app is really suck and ugly :silly:
Flash GB if you need performance.
But for something new and fast, you should try custom roms based on Kitkat.

I was also thinking about Xperia Hd Ultimate Ics based rom, just to have stock look but without missing performances. I hope it's the right choice.
Thanks for your advices buddy

So, if we only consider stock SE firwmares, do you suggest to stay with GB instead of ICS?
Thanks

If you request rooted device, i suggest flashing 0.42, doing root and then OTA update to 0.62. Flashed 0.62 cannot be rooted.
