Hi all
do you know if the version deployed by samsug in the different countries is the same one ?
What I wonder is do I need to wait for the real french version of the ROM or can I download the one that is written here of any country and it will be the same ?

Just the modem and bloatware will be different.. however I think you can also flash your country's stock rom when it reaches ur country.. it wont raise your knox counter to 1

You can flash any rom from any country just make sure you have the correct phone model number.

Bonjour Nico,
I'm French myself.
Look at what happened to me yesterday...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48232525&postcount=1
I really wonder why you would want to upgrade to official 4.3...
But if you insist... If you want, we could exchange our phones
Hi Surfinette !
Nice to see a girl here !
Actually, I don't have my device rooted anymore since I bought my Samsung Note II,
- because I need it to be stock in order to get my business mails,
- because I understood I did not need it really... what for ? I can install all of the apps I want, I can develop my own apps with AIDE
- because I don't need my device to be running on a custom ROM as stock Samsung ROM already contains all options I need
...
So yes, I still would like to install this new 4.3 SAMMY's ROM, which I am waiting for so long...
However, I share your disappointment, regarding you needs and wishes

Yes. Hongkong 4.3 has been reported as the most stable for 4.3.
U can try it. Just remember that KNoX thing won't allow u to revert back to 4.1.2

You can ofcourse revert back to 4.1.2 or any other version - you will just loose the ability to run KNOX ever again.

Even if I didn't care for a custom Rom, I would want to be rooted, in order to use truly battery-saving apps, add-killing apps, kill some useless system bloatware, use a more efficient kernel, use a firewall to prevent many apps to connect to the internet against my will (and sending whatever data to whatever server without me knowing what they are sending behind my back),...

Hello can anyone write a tutorial that will send any T989 with custom ROM and RADIO to it's original configuration so Kias can upgrade phone to ICS ? Let's say I am on Darkside with radio from Blaze 4G and I do have my original ROM backed up with ROM Manager ....now what ? From what I understand I need 3 things to make a smooth transition.
1. Original 2.3.6
2. Original RADIO
3. No Custom Recovery (no clockwork)
I may be incorrect on clockwork but I know for sure radio and rom has to be exact. So is there anyone can write a tutorial that will put any T989 and ANY Custom ROM to it's original state ? (I hjope it's even possible)
Thank you.

I guess that link is for old stock ROM (ULKL1) . They upgrade it one more time before IcS to UVLDE. There is thread on general section.

Is that mean I'll have to do an upgrade before I can do ICS ? Or I can just go from that straight to ICS ?
if you find the UVLDE md5.tar file in whatever thread it is in, you only need to go back to that STOCK version, there is no further update from that.
You can then do the ICS update after that.

Why not wait a few days for us to play with it first? Updating through Kies could render your device unrootable. With what I have been reading/hearing they may lock the bootloader and make it impossible to root until a security flaw is found and exploited. This could take days to even months if even possible. Like I said, my advice is to wait.

If your device is new I suggest you not to root it before you know what you are doing. Rooting your device will void your warranty. I suggest you to ask the people in the store where you bought it if there is some problems if you do so (I did it this way and they said its fine if I dont brick it myself). If you think you know enough to proceed there you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930197 . Also I suggest you to install custom ROM because its way faster then stock OS. There is other way, check the topic for games available for A101 and check if the version matches with the one you've downloaded from PlayStore.

but please ,, i have some questions , i hope you will answer me..
1.. you advise me to install a custom ROM as its faster ,, doesn't rooting include installing it ? or rooting is a step and installing a custom ROM is a separated step which i can ignore ?
2..the topics you gave has a lot of firmwares which one to use ? how do i know ?
3.is it true that with rooting i can download paid apps for free ?
i know this is far away from the main topic , but i need to know every thing about rooting , as it a little bit confusing me ..

1.First you root your device by installing Special Developer Edition of android called also SDE and then install the custom rom over it. Your device remains rooted with the custom rom.
2. The firmwares are just firmware versions released by Archos. Download the latest one and all the files with the same number for the correct firmware. If you like to proceed ofcourse.
3.

Welcome to android. Definitely got a good device for first android experience. Well now since you are rooted you will have to flash a custom recovery. You can download the goo.im app from the play store to get cwm recovery. That way you can flash anything to any partition within the phone. Now is that kernel for the t mobile s3? If its not, then I don't recommend flashing. Just flash what you find here. Ktoonsez makes great kernels. There are also stock over clocked ones and others as well. Once you have cwm OK installed then go ahead and download the kernel using your phone's browser. Then to boot into custom recovery, power off the device and when powering it back on press and hold the power and the volume down button. When the device vibrates once, you can then let go and and from there cwm should work and then flash file from .zip and look for your downloaded kernel and flash it

Has anyone figured out how to make a i8160P still a P after returning to stock GB. Any time I've tried to flash the original firmware the phone remains a regular i8160 and states that a custom power management has been installed. The NFC works but the device has no IMEI and insists at boot and in the device menu it is an i8160.
I don't think it is possible after you have flashed i8160 firmware
I've tried various different things but to no avail. It is a shame about my impatience. Especially considering the Germany i8160P, which is the one I have, has gotten the Jelly Bean update first. :silly:

Sadly that first step doesn't work. It throws up the Custom Power Management Error and you loose your IMEI. Samsung won't deal with it since the device was not available in my region.

This does not apply for 8160P (Ace 2 with NFC)... best case, you will have to flash back to MB2/MB4/MC8... mid case no modem/IMEI (no NFC, 3G, etc.)... worst case: brick! Do NOT attempt if you have 8160P!
I tried this, to regain NFC and to be able to flash JB ME1, but when trying to flash GB for 8160P over the Russian rom I got custom modem. Immediatly flashed back to MB2, stuck there now (MC8 is horrible!)

If you manage to install GB for 8160P w/o losing your IMEI, tell me how you did it... but probably you will encounter CUSTOM MODEM errors when flashing original 8160P fw (after having flashed SER for 8160)
You need a complete firmware.
The problem its I8160XXMB4. This Firmware include Bootloader, new memory management, ipl...
Once you have instaled mb4, your phone will be a "true" i8160 until you can flash a complete i8160p firmware, and in this moment, i believe that dont exit any complet i860p firmware, so You can still update your ace with any i8160 uptade, but not more i8160p, until some new "complete packaged" will be leak of course.
Could someone with a P that hasn't been flashed update a full firmware dump?
Should be "easy".
You need a i8160p rooted and some linux knowledge
The "only" problems are:
1º. You need to know the path to block files, normally they are in /dev/block
2º. You need to suppose that block are each partition (system, userdata, sdcard, modem, bootloader, sbl, cache...)
3º. You need a SD card with enough free space
Once you have all, should be "easy" dump each partition:
dd if=/dev/block/blockxxx of=/sdcard/bootloader.raw
dd if=/dev/block/blockxxy of=/sdcard/system.raw
...
where blockxxx should be each block device
But even when you can obtain all partitions and you can identify them, you still need create a firmware with them or flash some of them on other devices, with the correspondence risk and privacy problem form the dump owner... well, the owner could of course delete userdata, sdcard, efs... partitions
@primewell

hi every one!
i am new here, and as now i am out of warranty so i decided to root my phone and get Note 3 features on my N7100
but i dont know the exact method, I already did some research on it and choose Phoenix v17.0, but still there are may questions in my mind
Let me tell about my device :
Model : GT-N7100
Android version : 4.3(unrooted) and Knox installed.
Now my question are:-
1.Correct steps flashing .,,. i mean from rooting till flashing as i read some where that i have to change bootloader etc.

hi every one!
i am new here, and as now i am out of warranty so i decided to root my phone and get Note 3 features on my N7100
but i dont know the exact method, I already did some research on it and choose Phoenix v17.0, but still there are may questions in my mind
Let me tell about my device :
Model : GT-N7100
Android version : 4.3(unrooted) and Knox installed.
Now my question are:-
1.Correct steps flashing .,,. i mean from rooting till flashing as i read some where that i have to change bootloader etc.
2. what is my bootloder version ? from where can i find it ?

maybe: Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting? Q&A = questions and answers
it's been a while but I don't think I have updated my bootloader. you are most likely on mj5 or newer as you updated on 4.3.

Knowing which boot loader version ur on is quite tricky but if you have stock 4.3 then you are good to go don't look too much into it. If its your first custom ROM then advice will be to stick with a touch wizz based ROM there are many. But if you want note 3 features then as stated above ditto note 3 would be my choice. Root your phone(do not fret over knoxx) get the latest custom recovery( I advice twrp 2.7.0). Download ditto note 3 ROM wipe every thing ( data dalvik cashe cashe internal SD )do not wipe ext SD card. Flash rom (for more specific info read ROM op) and now plz close the thread or move this into qand a section
Regards
Happy flashing
Install phone info from play store to know bootloader and other things
Don't worry. .. since you have Knox. . You are mostly on mj9.. don't try to install anything less than 4.3 android
Ditto note 3 DN3 v4RC2 is what you need. .. go to its thread and read FAQ on post 4... and enjoy
