Welcome to android. Definitely got a good device for first android experience. Well now since you are rooted you will have to flash a custom recovery. You can download the goo.im app from the play store to get cwm recovery. That way you can flash anything to any partition within the phone. Now is that kernel for the t mobile s3? If its not, then I don't recommend flashing. Just flash what you find here. Ktoonsez makes great kernels. There are also stock over clocked ones and others as well. Once you have cwm OK installed then go ahead and download the kernel using your phone's browser. Then to boot into custom recovery, power off the device and when powering it back on press and hold the power and the volume down button. When the device vibrates once, you can then let go and and from there cwm should work and then flash file from .zip and look for your downloaded kernel and flash it

Do not flash anything to your phone that didn't come from this forum (TMo S3). In other words, don't flash that kernel you were talking about. There are certain exceptions, but just follow this rule: do not flash anything to your phone that didn't come from this forum (TMo S3).
you used http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238 this to root your phone? - that thread is for international S3 version
and your phone is TMO right?hmmm...just like what Aerowinder said Do not flash anything to your phone that didn't come from this forum (TMo S3).

**if your still here**
1st. You cant use anymore Ktoonsez kernel or other kernels and ROMs in this thread you will end up in the customers service station cuz you said its a GT-I9300 (international variant of S3).
2. Your S3 is not a FAKE we have 2 different worlds

Well by the sounds of it your not planing to root your device (at least straight away). Although if you do decide to purchase I recommend it as there are numerous fixes with custom roms/kernels. The battery out of the box was shockingly bad but this was quickly fixed by flashing a new kernel and it improved dramatically!! The other issue out of the box I had was the signal dropped out every so often but you can flash the latest baseband and that resolved the issue.
Hope that helps...

i'm planning to root my device...but maybe 1 or 2weeks later...for the battery fix, which kernel should i flash?is it a custom kernel or a stock kernel?
and for the signal drop issue which baseband should i flash?btw...is baseband different in every country?? i'm a noob
It depends on the rom you might flash. Some like CyanogenMod have a modified kernel that improves performance and battery life anyway. I personally like Francos kernel but it some what depends on your experiences with different rom/kernel combinations and experimentation.
As for flashing the 'right' baseband, there are different releases depending on your location. However this is not to say that a asian baseband won't work in europe (they do). So again this calls for personal experimentation and seeing what works best for you in your area.

i'm going to stick with the stock ics first...wat is the ics version of nexus out of the box?4.0.1?if it's 4.0.1,how do i upgrade it to 4.0.2 or 4.0.3?if i flash Francos kernel, will i lose my data and apps in the phone?
i'm from malaysia(asia) so which baseband do u think i should flash??
again...i'm a noob...i really appreciate tat u answer my question...thanks alot...
The version out of the box will more than likely be 4.0.1. If your planning to root anyway then you don't need to worry about what you get out of the box.
If your bootloader is locked (which it probably will be) when you get your device you will need to unlock this. Doing so will wipe your device so it's recommended to do so sooner rather than later.
EDIT:
After this point flashing a new kernel will not wipe your app data (unless you want to )
There are 'stock' rooted roms available, I but I believe these are limited to 4.0.1/2 only. If you want great performance I would recommend a custom rom.
The Toolkit (here!) is a great tool if your new to the whole rooting scene so I recommended looking at that.
You can have a look at the list of basebands as well (here!) which might make the situation a little clearer. There's no 'easy' answer, as I said before you need to do some reading and self testing. Everyones situation is different depending on exact location and rom combination. Don't be afraid at trying these new things (you can always flash a different one).

i'm sorry but what is bootloader?
thx again for your help...i'm doing some research about all this procedure right now...
As far as I know (I may be wrong), unlocking the bootloader and rooting the device does not void Samsungs warranty. Even if it does you can relock the bootloader/unroot your device so there were no signs of you tampering with your device in that manner.
Try aokp with Franco kernel.

No. The newest official version is 4.0.2.
In the development section of this forum there are 4.0.3 roms available because they are in aosp but 4.0.3 never never got pushed ota. There are leaked 4.0.4 roms too.
To flash a kernel you need to unlock your bootloader, flash clockwork mod recovery and flash from there. Don't flash Franco.kernel over 4.0.2
Just use the gnex toolkit to do everything, its simple.
Then read about bootloaders, adb and fastboot.
very valuable knowledge.

It will update to 4.0.2 from 4.0.1 when you turn it on and it will upgrade Over The Air (OTA)
Aosp is android open source project.
All the code for android is free for people to take and build and is stored in Google's aosp repositories.
Read as much as you can, nexus are quite simple so you'll figure it out.

Hello can anyone write a tutorial that will send any T989 with custom ROM and RADIO to it's original configuration so Kias can upgrade phone to ICS ? Let's say I am on Darkside with radio from Blaze 4G and I do have my original ROM backed up with ROM Manager ....now what ? From what I understand I need 3 things to make a smooth transition.
1. Original 2.3.6
2. Original RADIO
3. No Custom Recovery (no clockwork)
I may be incorrect on clockwork but I know for sure radio and rom has to be exact. So is there anyone can write a tutorial that will put any T989 and ANY Custom ROM to it's original state ? (I hjope it's even possible)

Is that mean I'll have to do an upgrade before I can do ICS ? Or I can just go from that straight to ICS ?
if you find the UVLDE md5.tar file in whatever thread it is in, you only need to go back to that STOCK version, there is no further update from that.
You can then do the ICS update after that.

Why not wait a few days for us to play with it first? Updating through Kies could render your device unrootable. With what I have been reading/hearing they may lock the bootloader and make it impossible to root until a security flaw is found and exploited. This could take days to even months if even possible. Like I said, my advice is to wait.

As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants. Bricks might happens or a soft one might happen. Before flashing a Rom make sure you are in the right development section an you read the entire op, twice. Until other devs or experienced users find a way to make them cross compatible, please refrain from using other carriers S3 roms.
Also wind mobile an Tmobile are interchangeable, just don't flash the modems.
ONLY FLASH THE ROMS IN THIS FORUM!

I second this, guys PLEASE don't risk it. It is not worth it. Right now I think most devs are working on their own ROMs, but we should have a patch soon to allow cross-compatibility.
think some peeps are confused by whats before tmo development. (AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III) just my opinion but good idea on thread.
Mr Highway:
Could you start another thread for Windmobile Android Development?
In the past all Windmobile phones are just T-mobile phone rebadge.
In this case, it does not in terms of kernels....(and may be baseband)
I am working on this so that all roms will work on all carriers

and not in the Samsung Galaxy S III I9300 thread ?
I keep seeing posts about ROMs that can work on these variants of galaxy S3s. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the ROMs supposed to be specific to GSM or CDMA? When I flashed windows based roms on my touch pro II, that was one of the things to look out for. Is it possible to create a ROM for all carriers?

Yes and no.
With the use of aroma-installer, we could set it up to detect your phone type (well, not we....I don't know that much about it but I saw the thread discussing this) and aroma would be able to install the necessary files based on your phone.
As of now, for instance, mine works across all GSM carriers. clark44 is current working to get everything switched up so it also works for Sprint (mostly appears to be the apk files and XML files) that are specific to the phone. As of now, he has it booting and working fine except there is a large rush of FCs on initial bootup but then everything runs fine.
I wasn't even aware you could make a patch to allow cross-compatibility! XDA never fails to surprise
Just a thought, but maybe they could do it like the SlimROM on multiple devices. He has a common base ROM and another flashable for each device supported. It works out perfectly and multiple ROMs for multiple carriers.
I figure it will be easier than doing it for different devices since I read that all the US variants are essentially the same. Not sure but worth a look.

Will there ever be any SGH-T999V development?
Does anyone think that someone with a SGH-T999V Wind Mobile variant will ever be able to root their phone so they can overclock the cpu, etc?
Why not? I am using a custom rom and overclocked to 1890 at the moment.
Just use the windows way to root. I knbow it works
I have not tried the toolkit.
If you are going to flash a custom rom just make sure it does not contain the boot, modem and amss file in the rom that you are flashing.

I'm more curious as to what exactly the differences are between the 2 variants (i.e. t999 vs t999v). What could possibly make them so different from each other that ROMs from tmobile wouldn't work on wind GS3?
What if you accidentally tried to flash i9300 rom and your phone is not turning on.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately the phone will not go into download mode for odin, it won't even turn on.
After doing some research it looks like I have to fix it through jtag.
I think I could do it, but you need some expensive jtag box that connects to the computer(It's called the Riff Box), but it would be cheaper if I just sent my phone into here it costs $60. Not ideal, but not a complete disaster either. Unless there is some other way to JTAG I am out of options.

Hi,
I have the N7105 (LTE model) and everything I see here in the forum: roms, root kits, etc, is everything for N7100.
Can anyone help me or point me on how to root N7105. Can I use the same TOOLKIT V1.0 to root it?? Does the CWM will work?
Thanks!

I have the n7105 - shv-e250L - and it worked for me. I used odin and flashed it with CWM. Now I just want to find the Stock ROM for the n7105 so I can Un-Root it if I ever need to use the Warranty.
Anyone have any info on the Stock Rom for n7105? Seems all Note 2 ROM's listed on XDA are for N7100....

Hi did u use CF-Auto-Root v1.0 to do that? or other? Can u tell me the link here on XDA for what u used to root ur N7150 and put new CWM?
I think thw official world wide selling of N7105 is posted to 18th of October. That's why there isnt any offical ROM out there for this model and also because there isnt any custom rom's yet too. Developers are waiting for the english official version. The others floating around are not yet in english.
Thanks for ur answer

You can find Stock ROMs for N7105 here:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-N7105
May I ask if there's any impact on the LTE capabilities after rooting? I supposed you followed the instructions meant for N7100 (3G variant)?
Here's a http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3link should u guys wanna get ur stock ROM. Just fill up the model, country & os accordingly ..

I was not able to locate my specific firmware on either site. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
The closest I found was shv-e250s, which is the same model as mine except from a different carrier.
I've included a screen shot of the about my device page on my phone in case that helps at all.
Will installing a different region/model's ROM affect the phone negatively?
I might need to take my phone in for service or replacement because part of the touch screen is unresponsive at times while typing and Swyping.
So I need to make sure my stock ROM is installed and my counter is reset.
Thanks all for your assistance.

Wait!
These of you who think that N7105 rom will work for your SHV-E250s/l/k, you better not try it! I have done that already and lost EFS and imei! So you better don’t, i as well recommend you to make back up, or even 2-3 backups with different soft. + as soon as you make root, download root explorer, and copy entire root to your flash card + back up (It’s a must to have a copy of your EFS folder, if you are planning to flash and even if you don’t!)
The stock, and Multilanguage firmware is not out yet for these series of Phones
By the way here is comparison of all Note II: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomp...3801&id11=3803
And by the way: roms that are at http://www.sammobile.com are not official or factory roms, i took my SHV-E250S to Samsung and took roms downloaded from there, in Samsung they checked them out and said that they are not original roms. Probably made by recover from an existing device, or open source.

Thanks mate, but mine is rooted now, and has SU installed, the prob is that I have no IMEI and corrupt EFS folder with no data as should be inside, because i flashed with other rom, rom from N7105 instead of SHV-E250S. I as well have CWM. Still can’t figure out how to get my bandwidth back (((
When i flash with official rom, i`m still stay rooted only CWM rcovery mode changes. SU is still there, when go in download recovery mode, there:
odin mode
product name: SHV-E250S
Custom binary download: yes (38 counts)
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
When device is on, on the screen always a window with devices data, (you can check out pic in one of my posts).
No IMEI, no EFS folder or back up of its content, no network. Wi-Fi works, no water welcome screen or turn of screen (when i press power button it just switches of and on)

I LITERALLY just rooted my GT-N7105 with stock firmware (JRO03C.N7105XXALIJ) using chainfire's technique.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933542
Worked fine.
Work on any firmware of N7105?

I follow the root method for Tmob LTE by my friend, simplelife.
I haven't tried CFroot yet. Coz I only find this thread only after I do rooting by simplelife thread. I was desperately look for how to root N7105.
Perhaps later if any new firmware then I will try the CFroot, I believe it rocks.

Well I use dr.ketan's tutorial to root my N7105 and it works great:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696
My stock ROM is N7105ZHALJ4, download from sammobile and you should find your stock rom there. Otherwise, my point of view, you shouldn't root your device until you found your stock rom. Using other stock rom may result in lossing your EFS & IMEI, as well as your carrier details.
hey guys! Ive flashed synergy rom into my sgh-i747 and ive got bunch of problems... one of them is that my phone model number turned from sgh-i747 into sph-i710 . I have no clue why that happened .please help !!((

thats because you flashed the sprint version of the ROM onto your S3. download the AT&T version, full wipe and flash.
but if its possible, i could intall the version of i9300 and it will turn into international version wont it?

NO! it will turn into a brick!!
only flash ROMs that are specifically for your device!
dude, you need to read up on all of this. check out the general forum. if your phone is an i747, then ONLY flash i747 ROMs.
dude you got me wrong . I know all about it but syneergy has published its att-sprint-us cellular version together. but i think its sprint based but available for all . and it screwed up my phone . I dont know how to come back. ı tried to flash cm att version but i couldnt .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179330
Step 5 in this thread has to do with flashing a ROM. download the CORRECT ROM and Gapps and follow those steps.
After you have completed that and have booted into the device fine (everything's correct and working), follow Step 4 on that thread to create a backup.

you asked about installing an international ROM. that's what i was replying to. what synergy release did you download?
okay it may seem i go stupid but İ had to flash sprint becuz it wasnt accepting att version. so i did install it and it seems to be workin okay. But i concern about i might be a problem after a while. And I still could not figure out how to make it back. i mean make it back to att version ? can anyone explain that ?

the reason i asked what release you were using was because certain versions of synergy dont work well with AT&T. the r290 and higher releases are supposedly working well.
if you used a release listed as r290 or higher then you might want to try a different ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792499 i have flashed the latest version that is r373 . it turned my phone into what it is not but suprisingly it works like a horse

Don't mistake me as being "hard/rude"... but "know all about it" means you would've been careful in the first place, along with ways to come back in case of issue.
Like the previous poster said, you should flash only the ROM that's intended for the phone.
Also, a dev might release a ROM for all three carriers, but if you actually look into the OP of that ROM you'll realize that there is a version for each device.
Oh.i took it as my mistake.i shouldnt have said that. But i meant that i knew what he says but yeah ur right.i have no explanation for that. But i still cant see att version separetly ? Could you please link me

That's fine. Not an issue esp cos people here only try to help than finger point
Anyways, back to topic. If you do not see an AT&T version, I would suggest checking in the ROM thread itself. And if you still can't find it, it would mean there is no AT&T version. So you might be better off with one of the many AT&T specific ROMs here.
Okay thanks a lot for ur interest.im gonna give a few try more. And id like to say that even if my model nber is changed into sprint, my baseband number still shows that it is at&t . yeah its a bit confusing for me.anyways i will try to make it back and lets see if i can make it.
Problem is solved !!
I solved the problem through changing some parameters in built.prop like ''from d2spr to d2att and I used prop editor app ". http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828152 ....this link has the sample for att mobile phones. By this way, i succesfully changed the model number so that I could use att version stock rom to take everything back. I flashed att stock rom through Odin and its done !
Thanks for everbody's help !! sorry for english ,cuz im not native. If anyone has the problem and cant make it through, please let me know and im gonna try to make it clear.

You may have the wrong recovery installed on your phone. The synergy thread has specific instructions concerning which version will be installed and it being dependant on your specific recovery. It clearly says that if you get to the installer in the aroma...and your phones model is shown and is wrong...that you should install the phones proper recovery.
