Hi everyone,
I can´t get flashing CM roms under v11 (kitkat), this one installing without any problem. Versions 10 allways give following error:
"Opening update package...
Installing update...
script aborted: assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "ancora" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "ancora" ||
getprop("ro.product.device") == "GT-I8150" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "GT-I8150"

E:Error in /storage/sdcard0/pac_ancora_4.3.Build-1_20131103-165834.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted"
I wipe data, cache and Dalvik cache as must be.
I'm using CWM based recovery v6.0.4.5
What am I doing wrong ?
NOTE: I don't wont use kit kat for the moment because a few apps I use aren't yet prepared to Android 4.4 and they don't work or work deficiently.
Thanks a lot
Have you tried to flash an 'older' CWM? I read that you can't flash KK with a CWM below 6.0.4.5......so is it possible that the reverse is also true......that you need an older CWM to flash an older ROM?....
Worth a try......

Bingo, you are absolutly right. CWM v.6.0.3.4 did the job. I was convinced that new versions were retrocompatible, I was wrong.
At least I've learned something. It means that when I decide go to KitKat I will need to go forwards to 6.0.4.5. What a mess...
Thanks a lot.
Yeah....had to do that with my S2......
Coming from 10.1....had to flash a compatible CWM before I flashed 11....
I guess that as 11 is radically different from 10, 10.1 and 10.2, they need to be flashed differently?......

I doubt it's cwm version is related. I have the last cwm and I can flash any rom. I'm using a jb rom now

You could be right, the OP may have been having problems because of a corrupted CWM so flashing a new CWM may have solved his issues.

You can't go back to GB. But try installing kyrillos v8. It's insanely fast I heard. Follow the link on my signature

But you can, sure only tested on i8160P but i am pretty sure it applies for non p and l versions. Just need to have proper dump and backup of cspsa, efs and modem fs partitions.

edit the updater-script in the V8 rom to allow install on the "L" otherwise you'll get an assert fail error.
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "GT-I8160L" && getprop("ro.build.id") == "JZO54K")
Best ROM is CM 10.1. It is fast and stable, it has only a few bugs.

This phone is the only thing i now have and i need it to run smoothly. Please send me a mail at [email protected] if you can help me.
Hi all. since I'm pretty new I'm not yet able to post in the development forum. My question is fairly straightforward.
I have rooted, installed custom roms/kernels on my SE Arc S for a while now, but every time by following either a youtube tutorial or a nice instruction sequence.
Curently I am running Slim-Bean 4.0 (by XtremeSilencer), I used the installation procedure from the original thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959054
I installed the Fusion Kernel provided in the description and everything got set up smooth. What I want to do now is upgrade to @besttt Slim-Bean based ROM, which fixes some bugs. his post is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45710450&postcount=2992
The Instructions are a bit confusing, since apparently I need to be running CM10.1 and I only know that CM10.1 means (Cyanogen mod 10.1) and that Slim Bean runs some sort of version? of it, but I couldn't find anywhere on my phone a clue about which version Im currently running with Slim Bean. As I said all I did was installing the base version 4.0 of Slim Bean by XtremeSilencer like the instructions on the main page taught me.
What procedures would I need to do to upgrade from the "Stock" Slim Bean 4.0 with the Fusion Kernel 4.5 (About Phone says its: 2.6.32.60-FusioN [email protected]) #PREEPT Fri Feb 22 23:49:51) to the Besttt custom SlimBean kernel?
1. Flash which Kernel via fastboot?
2. Wipe data/catche/etc
3. Install which ROM (zip)? - If I'm correct, Anzu mean Rom for Arc S ??
thanks a lot,
~Skaveelicious
Mate, as you said you are already on @besttt slim. But now you want to Upgrade. As in the guide stated. For that you must have latest slim rom by besttt, you can find that from his signature @besttt)
Install the kernel he said in that update.
Install slim bean 8.1 non stop gaming edition, its latest version of slim rom.
Then install the home and wifi fix.
Then gapps.
Then boot to main screen, then install wifi modules for that kernel.
You will get latest update for the slim rom.
Remember, official is better than update, as besttt said. There are some bugs.

1. Kernel seems to be inside the zip like it says in the thread: "use kernel,, only incide my rom zip"
2. Yes data, cache, dalvik, system I think, if it says "full" wipe
3. Anzu = Arc S, and don't forget the gapps.

Inside the .zip there is an .img file. So basically what I need to do is extract the .img from the zip and:
1. flash the Kernel DarkAnzu Kernel via flashtool.
2. Wipe system/cache/dalvik cache
3. install de .zip via CWM
4. Install GAPPS via CWM
Well, the Kernel is the img inside the zip, no idea if it's the DarAnzu Kernel, but just flash the img inside the zip via fastboot in flashtool and then do the other steps.
I flashed it and it went perfectly. Now understand how this kernel+rom update works. Cheers and thank you all
I rooted and properly installed a previous version of:
[ROM][STOCK][4.1.2][T889] XXDMG1 || Deodexed & Odexed, Rooted, Busybox [08/01/13]
earlier version.
Was wondering how I could update to 4.3/4.4 and switch to newer different rom. Do I need to reflash to stock rom and unroot first...then update thru tmobile...then reroot and install newer rom?
Or can I just install new rom over my old rom with 4.3 or kitkat?
Thanks in advance for any help for this noob.

Install ClockworkMod recovery with SELinux support. Older CWM will result in a "status 7" error.
Take a look at the Installation part.
But before take a full backup.

You can try CM 11
link
Or AOSB ProBAM KK
link
I personally suggest go with CM 11, which is pretty stable and fast.

Which variant, kernel etc? Loki is failing, so it means you're using a device with unsupported aboot.
Also, you can't use AOSP kernels on stock-based ROMs.
I have an f240l and trying to flash wild kernel and zkernel
Both of them are for AOSP, not stock-based ROMs, so don't try. There are no stock-based custom kernels, as far as I know.
Thank you very much.i'll wait then for someone to do one.
