Hello, i recently purchased a THBbury car kit for my xda IIs. I fitted it to my car and tested it out everything worked fiine. The next time i went to use it the person ringing me couldn't hear me at all. I checked all my wiring and its fine but the microphone still aint working. I assumed it was a faulty mic so i purchased another mic but this didnt solve the problem.
Has anyone else had this problem, any ideas would be greatly appreciated, could it be a software issue or is it a hardware issue.
Many thanks in advance
Hey there
Yesterday I suddenly realized, that my ear piece speaker stopped working. First I thought it was just a little bug, solvable through re-trying to call or rebooting.
Nothing worked. Strangely enough going via the load speaker or the headset, everything sounds fine. Just the ear piece in the phone seems defect.
Then I found some weird diy solutions like using your headphone jack as a drill and pushing and pulling it in several ways or using a tooth-pick to scramble open some stuck switch. But honestly I don't know if this helps or breaks my headphone jack.
You guys have any idea how to solve this - don't want to send it in (wait weeks and get an lcd-desire back).
Cheers and Thanks
Just off the phone (no, not with my Desire) with HTC Customer Service, who have never heard of this issue and just recommend a hard-reset.
Still need to try the "jam the original headphones in and out"-solver tho.
seriously? I'm the first with this issue?
well hard reset, nor poking in the jack brought any benefit. so sending it in it is then :/
Hello all,
I have a l700 on Sprint. My loud speaker is not working.
I searched and I found posts that discuss issues with the speaker not working from what seems like hardware issues. My problem, however, is a little different. I swapped my charging port ribbon because it was damaged and when I booted, everything worked except the loud speaker.
The Headphones work, vibration works. I tried sound about to no avail. I proceeded to order a new speaker unit. I installed it today and it seems that this is still not producing any sound through the loud speaker.
Can anyone help me figure this out? I am perplexed.
Thanks in advance.

Could someone at least tell me where a better place to post is?

It appears the replacement ribbon was messed up. I tried the old one and the speaker works.

Hi
I have a Galaxy S4 mini but when someone calls they cannot hear me but I can hear them. It does work when on Speaker phone and I guess this is due to the mic on the top of the phone is used for Speaker and the one at the base is used normally. I've checked and the mic hole hasn't any fluff in there and factory reset didn't work either. The phone was purchased off of ebay recently and i'll probably end up sending it back but wondered if there is a fix i hadn't heard about yet? Does anyone know if there is an app or a way that I can switch the primary mic from the base to use the working one at the top in all situations?
thanks.

Most probably you have problems with the mic itself and ain't fixable with just firmwares.
HELP. I was using my phone to listen to music via the free ear set when all of the sudden it stopped transmitting sound through the earbuds but instead went to go to loudspeaker. It is as if there is no ear set attached to the jack anymore. I thought my ear set was the one malfunctioning so I tried connecting my spare ear set but still yields the same problem. It is as if the jack became loose all of a sudden. I didn't recall dropping my phone or accidentally pulling the ear set wires while still attached to the jack that may perhaps damaged it. One thing I observed is that I can the make the music transmit to the ear set if I press the pin to the 3.5 mm jack really really hard but will immediately stop working again the moment I lift my finger thus going to loudspeaker again. Obviously, I cannot be doing the whole pressing thing everytime I want to listen to music cause its plain ridiculous just imagining that. The jack is literally rendered useless now. HELP !!! What should I do? Is this considered hardware problem already cause it seems like it? I just bought my unit December 1 last year so its considerably new. I already tried doing the SONY PC companion software repair just to be sure but still to no avail. Does anyone here experinced the same thing or is it just me.
HELP. As much as possible I dont want to leave my phone to service center as it takes them too long to repair it (2 weeks) and I have no spare phone to use.
THANKS in advance!!!
Send it to be repaired...

Same thing happened to my Z5P today... Read various forums and tried lots of "solved" issues but couldn't get it to work...
Will try and reset the phone after work today to see if it's a software issue, otherwise it will be sent to repaired...
Anyone else had the same problem?
Mine did that too, but i think it was only the headphones. Because it did work with other headphones and has been working fine
found a solution on sony forums..got mine working
Here what I did to get it working again:
Go to Settings > Apps > ALL > Smart Connect. and clear it's data.
Go to Play Store and install SoundAbout.
Open SoundAbout app and go to Media Audio and select your headset type in my case I selected [Wired Headset (with Mic)]
Plug-in your headset and the device should detect it now! wink
This is concerning to hear. Can anyone update to see if @wilger_18 's solution works?
this work around is annoying, You have to toggle ON OFF button if u want your phone to think if its going into loudspeaker or going into headseat more. Will wait for Marshmallow update if this will fix cause if its not then ill probably send it for repair.
Z5 premium headset detection issue.

Exactly same problem with my z5 premium , it works with soundabout but device doesn't detect the headset for itself, it is logical for a software issue and not hardware. Please let me know if u get a solution
Thanks a lot
Same issue here
Need to push the headphone very hard to make it be connected. I wonder if this is a hardware issue or just a software. Since I tried @wilger_18's workaround but it did not work on my end. I also reflashed the firmware with Flashtool and PCC but no luck...
Had this problem. For me it was hardware defect. Took it to my carrier shop. They confirmed the problem, took it to be serviced. One week later got my phone back. Replaced headphone jack and outer frame.
Works as should now. Hopefully it doesn't fail again. Disappointed that a $900+ device has a fault like this.

By any chance did the smart connect and improve headphone Icon flash about?

here didn't work out ... my headset (that came with the device) is not being recognized, I think i'll have to bring the assistance for a cleaning in connector.
Edit: With Soundabout works...

Soundabout app works also for me but how is that possible doesnt make sense at all :/ hope someone finds a fix for this. Maybe format??
Mine no longer works either. This is the first time a Sony phone I owned has malfunctioned and I started with W810. In US, with Taiwan device. Emailed Sony Taiwan to see if I can get it repaired. Of course, Sony US can't work on a foreign phone. Comical, they all have the same headphone jack.
UPDATE: Sony Taiwan doesn't offer international shipping for repairs so I have two options, fly to Taiwan or live with it. Looks like it will be the latter. Back in the box to collect dust.

Sent my Z5 Premium for repair, turn around about 7 days. The ear phone jack was loose and now it's been replaced and working properly.

I noticed that in his box z5p not appear headphones. This means they have disabled headjack to promote bluetooth headphones. So it's a software limitation.
Mine broke down twice, last week i sent in my z5 premium for repair sony replaced my screen, motherboard, side frame... Seems like i got all new phone... Also my headphone jack was fixed twice in 10 months...

Not all Z5P's came with headphones. Mine didn't so I alternate between my Sennheiser's and my Jays. The noise cancelling headphones I got with my Z2 are sound somewhere... and they work.
