Hi
I have a Galaxy S4 mini but when someone calls they cannot hear me but I can hear them. It does work when on Speaker phone and I guess this is due to the mic on the top of the phone is used for Speaker and the one at the base is used normally. I've checked and the mic hole hasn't any fluff in there and factory reset didn't work either. The phone was purchased off of ebay recently and i'll probably end up sending it back but wondered if there is a fix i hadn't heard about yet? Does anyone know if there is an app or a way that I can switch the primary mic from the base to use the working one at the top in all situations?
thanks.

Most probably you have problems with the mic itself and ain't fixable with just firmwares.

I am going to buy a white international Galaxy Nexus but the speaker doesn't work for phone calls.
Just curious if anyone may have had this issue and found a fix short of buying a parts phone and doing a little surgery to completely replace the insides because I am not going to lose the white chasis.
Use the speaker or buy headphones or Bluetooth thingy
I am going to try a complete reload of the factory ROM, if that doesn't work I am going to buy a nice Bluetooth headset and just live with it. Thanks for the reply though.

I had the same problem. Couple things I notice:
if I use Talkatone ( or any wifi calling app), then the earpiece will work.
Using wired headphones will yield 50% of sound working though the Phone app.
mic works on regular phone mode, but not on speakerphone, i tried 2 diff roms (atnt ics and cm10.1) and same problem. so i assume it's hardware. the only time i opened the phone up was to replace digitizer/screen after crack. the regular mic still works so i'm wondering if there are 2 mics and i forgot to plug one back in... does anyone know? it obviously it's a huge issue as regular mic still works but if someone is aware of 2 internal mics on the phone please let me know, otherwise i probably won't bother taking it apart and trying to fix it, i someone could verify there is 2 internal mics i will open er up and take a look, just thought i'd ask.
if there isn't 2 internal mics... does anyone have any idea why the mic would stop working on speakerphone on 2 seperate roms?
Hello
I bought the Note 10.1 2014 upon release in Canada and it has worked fine until recently. The tablet does not properly recognize my earphones, when I insert the earphones it will tell me "headphones connected" and the symbol would appear top left and than quickly disappear. I either have to fiddle with the earphone by turning it or push it right in for it to work but it will stop working there after.
I have reset the tablet and I have tried 4 perfectly good headphones and the result is the same. I called Samsung and they told me to get Samsung earphones.
Anyone else experiencing this? Would Samsung earphones fix this or is the headphone jack broken?
Thank you
Why would samsung earphones make a difference?? Seems like a fault has occured witht the headset jack.

Hello, bring this thread back from the dead
I didnt indicate this in my original post but I got the headphone jack problem a couple of days after I updated firmware via odin, got it fixed by sending to samsung.
I updated to kitkat via Odin a couple of days ago and now my headphone jack messed up again, keeps on reconnecting upon slightly moving the headphones.
Is this a coincidence?
Are you sure it's not the headphones? Have you tried a different brand?

Look in the headphone jack for lint or other debris.
Thx for the suggestions, tried different headphones and same thing, I will clean it with an air duster when I get a chance to buy it.
Thx
Nothing wokred
2nd time in three months this has happened, getting really annoying.
On a side note, anyone know if I can revert the firmware back to the Canadian version 4.3 (currently have kitkat 4.4)? If so, where can I find the firmware.
thx

Hi I've been experiencing the same issue, just wondering if you've found a way to fix this?
Apparently there is an issue with the samsung earphone jack but have not heard of a response from Samsung on this. My jack does not accept any devices, so it is all FG^&^ed up too. What to do about this?
Hi everyone!
So I bought a LG LS970 with a known issue, two of the lights on the bottom wouldn't come on. It wasn't a big deal to me but that part did eventually die, it stopped recognizing that it the USB was plugged in and so I replaced the mic flex and usb charging piece. After replacing it everything worked great except for the microphone. It works fine when I switch to speakerphone or headset but they can't hear me if I don't.
So I walked around for a few weeks looking like a tool talking on speakerphone everywhere. I ordered a second mic flex part and replaced it, booted up and once again everything works great except the microphone. Same issue.
Can anyone help me figure out what I should be looking for to get the microphone working normally again? I did a factory reset yesterday thinking maybe it was a software issue but that didn't help anything.
Thanks!
I have same problem, microphone issue when i update ota to JB ZVC.

Hello everyone, I recently dropped my phone and the screen shattered. After I replaced the screen neither of the 2 mics were working. I tried the dial code for hardware check to make sure , as well as calling both normal and on speaker. Tried saving some videos etc. None of the mics is working. Does anybody have any knowledge where the problem might be coming from. I highly doubt that both mics just blew out after the fall.
If anybody has any hardware knowledge of samsung phones help would be appreciated.

no one has any way of knowing what happened to your device especially if it was damaged.
it definitely sounds like your "fall" is what broke your mics. you need to contact samsung and have them repair your device
