I have the AT&T variant of the HTC One, and I seen the the thread for the Google Play edition ROM. Can I flash this on my phone and get rid of Sense? I read somewhere that it's not compatible yet or something, and that I have to download this thing called RUU? Can somebody explain this to me? Thank you.

You can flash gpe roms just fine.

Hi,
Anyone tried flashing latest ARHD to Verizon M8 yet? What works? What doesn't work?
The rom thread notes that "Verizon and Sprint variants not fully supported yet" but it doesn't clarify what exactly doesn't work, and I don't see any comments to that effect in the dev thread. Forum won't let me post there until I have 10 posts, so I'm asking here .
Thanks!

You have a Verizon HTC One M8? Radio (2G/3G/LTE), wifi, bluetooth, all works? Do you use Sense-6 or GPE? What custom recovery (Philz/TWRP/other)?
Thanks!
I believe Verizon support was added in version 1.3.0 onwards.
Edit: My bad, wrong ROM

"For HTC One M8 (Verizon and Sprint variants not fully supported yet)"
Okay, here's what I've done so far:
1) Install weaksauce and supersu to get temp root
2) Use 2nd firewater method to unlock bootloader (Verizon blocks normal htcdev method)
3) Install twrp m8_wlv version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717928
4) Took a backup with twrp
TODO: Flash a rom... (waiting on slow download)

Hey Andrew,
How did you get ARHD to work with CDMA? Mine can't find Verizon network. Edit: Does *find* it, but cannot register with it.
Hey guys,
I am eligible for an upgrade with AT&T. I have the following questions:
Can I S-off my device?
Can I 'convert' it into a google play edition so it receives updates?
Thanks!

Yes, but you know rom's get updates too. Just saying, nice to be able to run sense and gpe.

I don't know what you mean? You're saying you can dual boot GPE and Sense?

If you do a full gpe conversion you can't just simply flash a sense ROM because they have different system partitions. Imo, It's better to just flash a gpe ROM that way you can quickly switch back and forth if you want.

To go back to the original question. If you want full GPE conversion that can receive ota updates the link above will, providing you flash the stock recovery (a link to this is provided in the thread) What Otariq says is correct, it does actually convert your phone to a full GPE, partitions and all.
You can flash back to sense but there is a simple procedure you have to follow..
Depends what you prefer.
I am on the conversion and love it
Hello Everyone,
As you can tell by the title, im new to this thread. I have a AT&T variant and was wondering there isn't much on the carrier specific thread. So does that mean that the mods and roms here work for it too? or the ones in the carrier specific site are the only ones.
I just want to make sure before i root and go on a crack-flashing marathon.
Thanks in advance

I'm looking to just root right now. Are OTA updates from HTC or carriers (Rogers) possible with root?
Not with a custom recovery. I suggest running a custom stock ROM. Usually within a couple days, those ROM's are usually updated to include the OTA's.

Root doesn't affect OTA, make sure you have stock recovery and firmware/system, might have to reroot afterwards ?

I need to find a stock rom for the Google Play Edition version of the M8, but after searching for several hours, I found nothing. Currently, I'm running a buggy version of CyanogenMod 11. Nearly every post I find on Google or xda pertains to the Sense One M8, does anyone know where to find a rom or how to restore back to stock GPE?
Any help would be appreciated!
Lol is there such a thing as a stable CM rom?

Yeah, I've learned my lesson, don't do CM unless I'm out of manufacture updates lol.
So I do see the RUU file linked above, but is it possible to just flash a normal GPE rom in TWRP? I haven't s-off(ed) the phone and it'd be great if I could just reflash, just like most roms.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot! I really should have added this to the original post, but I'm hoping to get stock with a TWRP flash (which may not easily possible from the looks of it) so I can upgrade when Google blesses us with the Lollipop OTA update.

I could try it this weekend. I'm just a bit reluctant because it seems like such an easy thing to get, yet there aren't any real GPE stock roms as far as I can see. Also I'm not too enthusiastic about paying for s-off. I know from testing a few months ago that firewater doesn't work on my device which just leaves Sunshine s-off for $25

I suppose so. Coming from the GS3 it seems pretty silly that there's no return from flashing a rom lol.
I'll hold out for doing the s-off + RUU and use another rom like sinless until we see if Lollipop gets sent out as a flashable update or full install zip (or, of course, if someone comes across a flashable stock image in the mean time). Thanks everyone for the help so far!
For anyone with the same problem, I've found the original One M8 images! GPE stock rom image can be found here: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
Make sure to choose the One M8 Google Play Edition under the devices dropdown, then you'll find the stock images below.

Do all the guides here apply to a Sprint version of the HTC 10 as well? From what I'm seeing it appears they do, the specific xda forum for the sprint version has very little content and only appears to be relavent if you want to stay on sprint modified roms. Please advise as I'm a bit confused. Hoping the guides and roms here will work on my carrier version.
Thanks!

Most mods and guides are carrier unspecific. Only thing you need to be careful of is, when it comes to firmware or modded bootloader images. Those are carrier specific and flashing one not for your device may brick it.
Not all roms are sprint compatible.
Ours is, instructions what you need to do for it are on our homepage.

Awesome. What are you referring to when you say firmware and modded bootloaders? A full RUU restore with non sprint files?
Also i think i understand what is needed here. Just need to follow this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/guide-root-optionally-s-off-radio-t3373025 (Sim unlocked not needed correct?). Once i complete that guide I can then just install your rom via TWRP per the instructions correct?
Thanks again!
