Not sure what your setup is but you can s-off, change your kernel, or I think I saw a flashable mod that will allow read/write access on the stock rom (look in the development section.)

MetaMorph makes HTC Desire reboot?

I've installed Metamorph from the market but every time i start it up and do the checks it makes my phone reboot, i am clueless to what the problem could be.
I am rooted and using OpenDesire v1.3b ROM if that helps.
At the Moment system write is only possible in recovery, but for metamorph you need write access in Android.

I don't have a clue what you're on about tbh, I'm a newbie so bare with me
Shall i uninstall it?
Metamorph need access to /system files to write to those files. It needs this while your phone is switched on and working as normal.
The Desire only allows write access to those files while it is in recovery mode. So MetaMorph will not work.

Root htc one x internation version on sense 4.1 update.

I just got a HTC One X on vodafone and its on the latest firmware with sense 4.1 that was released a few days ago. Is there anyway to root it or should I wait for people to come up with a way?
Unlock your bootloader with htcdev.com, flash a custom recovery (like clockworkmod). Flash superuser in recovery or flash a custom Rom which comes pre rooted. Job done

Is there a way I can root without losing all my user data and apps from unlocking the bootloader?
If you do a search on here there is a way to back up before unlocking your bootloader, I don't know how to do it myself as I just re set everything after unlocking

How to get busybox?

Hey guys I plan on staying on stock Rom for a while but I need busy box installed. There are apps that do it, but whenever I try to install it my device just reboots. I'm stock rooted with unlocked boot loader as of right now and unable ble to achieve s-off in case that helps. New to HTC so any help would be appreciated.

You need to make your system writable

Would you be able to guide me on how to do that? Thought I had already done that but guess not :/
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Im pretty sure you need to turn s-on to s-off. There are many threads on here how to do that. I think you need to root it too
Not trying to hijack this thread but I've always wonder what is busybox for?

Guess I'm out of luck. Tried to use the s off method but it said it wouldn't work on my device

Doesn't work my device too.
If you have unlocked bootloader you can try to flash or use a module or hacked/custom kernel which can turn system from read only to write...flar made this module/kernel...so read the thread and maybe give it a try...

So if I flash the GPE ROM I will have a writable system? Certain ROM's only? I ask because my main M8 cannot achieve S-Off currently.
Thanks,
Thomas

S-Off and other vernacular

Howdy, new HTC One M8 owner here. Coming from Galaxy S4.
There is a lot information here pretty overwhelming. I'm trying to get my bearings. I have unlocked my BL and have not yet installed a custom recovery or root yet. I also have not taken any updates.
Is there a general consensus on which recovery is most compatible with our device?
What is S-Off? I mean I have the jist secure off, but what does this allow, and how do I achieve S-Off?
How do I verify I'm SIM unlocked and if not procedure to achieve this?
Finally with all of the development is there a thread that runs through the ROMs so I can choose one that best fits my need?

S-OFF if you change CID and model information and be able to flash any firmware but to flahs normals ROM zip files you absolutely dont need SOFF

I factory reset still my data turns off and on when hot spot is activated. I have done nothing but installed TWRP and S Off. This is ridiculous.
Any other ideas?
