You'll see the option buried in sounds. Of course I'm sure you already know you can't disable it. Only when headphones are plugged in you can.

Out of curiosity, if one were to enable the equalizer in Google Play Music app, does it conflict with BoomSound? Every time I enable the former, the sound changes pretty dramatically, even when I leave the EQ set to FLAT.

I never used the EQ in Google play music. I don't believe in it Viper, Boomsound and hk are the best.

But don't you think that the Boomsound over-emphasizes treble...like much more than a tad?

Hey,
Anyone use power amp for music? What's the best settings for max volume but no distortion? i listen to mostly rock and pop
Thanks

I do not think that there will ever be one perfect setting regardless to the genre of music you listen to. Your best bet is to use the presets and tweak from there.

never used it, never will probably
The iphone 4 always sounds more whole if that makes sense? Perhaps its best using the stock player? Lol

PowerAmp has been the best music player I've seen and used on a phone till date...
Just did a back to back comparison with the stock player and I have to admit the stock player sounds better to me.

Just upgraded to paid version, sorry if this was covered but how do you get lyric support? I see a greyed out button in info when you longpress a track.

+1 and by a great margin as well.
Dont think lyrics are available yet itll be in an update.
Poweramp + audioboost is a great combination!
What preset do you guys use?
I tweak the equalizer to suite my ears.
I am trying to buy it myself but market restrictions suck. Is there any other way to purchase?

Thanks, that should be nice additional feature.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
is there any other way than the market to buy???
any chance on getting this on our phones using the htc music apk or something?

Not likely. I believe that it is more hardware related for htc beats phones. However, if you want your phone to sound like beats might as well set up the bass on the equalizer way up.

Yeap. Just as I suspected.

Its more of an souped-up equalizer. DSP manager should work equally well. Just a quick question. Are you using the default ear phones? Or really nice expensive ones.
One last thing, to answer your question. This would not be possible as the HTC music app requires sense dependent frameworks. Bottom line, we need a htc sense port first.
Being a bit of an audiophile, I find it hard to use this phone on anything but a Sense/GPE ROM due to lack of the "Beats" EQ (Beats sounds more direct while everything else is too open). Would it be possible to port whatever libraries said EQ needs to an AOSP ROM? Awesomebeats and similar things don't seem to work on 4.3

That's one of the primary reasons why I'm on a gpe instead of other AOSP Roms. I hope it could be an option or something, cause frankly the speakers sound like crap without it :/

I found a mod for beats for all apps for the rezound ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587168&highlight=beats ) it might help in what to do or look for for the BEATS MOD
just thought i through it out there to see if it could be used for reference.
Have you tried viper4android? You have to use the fx version but I find it works fairly well.

Seen this but would rather see the mod baked into the Rom itself.

Most audio guys here (including me) hate beats. So it's funny seeing someone trying to get it back.
I prefer AOSP with a very slight PowerAmp EQ.

Too open.... Meaning too many settings, or needs a bit of compression?

It seems to me that there's a good amount of white noise, I'm not sure if this is what he is referring to though.
Sounds like lack of compression maybe.

Hmm.... I have never noticed that. Maybe because I keep my preamp so low.
I like beats for movies and you tube but hate it for power amp. I disable it when I use PA and use the built in srs and eq

Too open as in compression. Sound seems to "echo" around the speaker instead of being directed like it does with the beats EQ.

I like this one better. Doesn't slacker radio have more music also?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I installed this on my phone and I feel like the sound output via earbuds is distorted. I listened to one song via Milk and the same exact song via Google Music and the one on Milk sounded distorted and not good. The Bass was entirely too blown out. I don't know if it is a conflict with Boomsound or what, but via stock music player and via Google Music everything sounds awesome.

Great to hear. I have noticed this problem as well actually. I get this with certain tracks on both this and Pandora. I'll confess to being a bit of an audiophile (yes, also a bitrate snob), and every once in a while I will just have to banish a song from playing on a station.

could u do it for non usa people ?
So I've searched& searched and found a few slightly different instructions, mainly from the m8 thread, but with our phones having the beats audio/BoomSound, and all htc's emphasis on the speakers and sound, are there any instructions on Installing Viper4Android on M7 4.4.3 that are different from those on the general installation instructions on the main V4A thread? ANY recommendations on settings/ install would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
I did nothing special. Install app and use in app menu to install driver, then reboot.
I never recommend version settings, as it will change with your headset and personal preference. I do recommend, however, to enable expert options. You can really tweak the DSP to have a plethora of options compared to other Android DSPs.

K, 1 last question, did u edit the build.prop lines that it says to do in the viper thread,or skip it? Just asking because it says"if u can't find the lines, skip this step" ... I can find em, just wondering what doing this actually does...

It disables LPA. Most devices (ours has the option) you cannot manually turn off LPA. When you "install drivers" you will have a pop up to disable LPA which is the build.prop edit

........omg........ How have I gone this long without this.... Tested on quite a few different players n it's amazing. What music player do u run? I run poweramp but I read the only way power amp is supported is through normal mode, but I want beats to stay enabled (which requires compatible mode) ....... Am I basically stuck having to pick between beats / or power amp? Or is there any workarounds?

Odd... I am on ViperOne 7.0.1 Rom with V4A on normal and notice a big difference between beats on and off, meaning normal mode works for me with beats on.
Sent from my HTC6500LVWBLU using XDA Free mobile app
Disabling LPA is what allows beats to continue to work with V4A enabled. Power amp has its own eq which might be why it doesn't work properly with all modes of V4A.
