When you will go to setup wifi/when you will turn on it,
You can find the Wi-Fi Timer by going to Settings, by hitting the Wi-Fi menu option under the Connections tab, By pressing the Menu soft key on your Galaxy S4 and hitting Advanced. It is very simple way. Yep, this is a extremely well-hidden offer. Then you set the hours you want the Wi-Fi timer to switch on Wi-Fi. Thanks

On my p3300, all I had to do was tap the "G" and it would give me an option to disconnect my internet connection (this is while using it on my call plan).
Now when I try to do that on the new phone, it only brings up the Notifications page
Press and hold the end call key for 3 to 4 seconds and a menu appers. press terminate data connection to disconnect.
That only locks the phone.
The phone is in stock form - not even installed any programs yet.

Click to collapse
Go to 'All Settings' > 'Personal' > 'Buttons' > 'End Key'
Either change the setting to 'Always display the Quick List', or 'Terminate data connection'.
Many thanks
I actually had to break out the manual but that was no help at all.
when i dont want to receive calls and save batt life (on holiday for example) but still want to use bluetooth (i know it uses battery), is there a way to do this?
or otherwise, a way to turn off (disable) voice/3g without entering airplane mode?
You can turn off the radio from the *#*#4636#*#* menu.
Choose "phone information", scroll down and select "turn off radio"
Note: You want be able to access bluetooth menu in settings, so you should first configure your settings and make a bluetooth widget on a home screen, so you will be able to toggle it from there.
Hope it helps.
My GF has the infuse 4g and if you hold the power button down a few seconds it pops up with the options to put it in plane mode, power off, etc. but it also allows you to shut off the data plan. I am being very cautious with my data plan and turn it off quite often when im not using the phone. I was hoping for a quicker means to toggle it off/on like via the power button, or the scrollbare at the top of the screen when you drag the top of the screen down.
Any way to add this capability so I dont need to keep hitting settings and data usage?
Thank you
if you flash a rom with 15 toggle mod it comes with it in the status bar.

Or if you want a stock solution, use the widget Favorite Settings. It has the data usage button on there so you could just click it and take you straight to data usage to turn it off.
I haven ever flashed the roms or any of that before so I would need to go through and learn how to do it. but my main concern with those is that I would lose my tv-out functionality if I go to a different Rom from what I hear.
Thanks for the feedback
It would be cool to have it in the scroll bar if possible.
For now I have D/L'ed the "data enabler" app and put it on my home screen.
Or you can add the Settings widget 1x1 and select Data Usage. This gives you a 2 click solution to turn mobile data on/off.
I really hate the fact that the toggle isn't in the drop down menu. Makes me think ATT is resorting to methods of confusing is customers in order to nickel and dime us.

If you have wifi set to off when you're either away from home or at home, should the wifi notification icon on the slide down notification menu thing be greyed out (not blue)? When i manually turn off wifi, and enter my home location (to which i have my smart setting to turn on wifi) wifi turns on automatically and connects to my router.
When I leave my home area (i have the smart setting to turn off wifi) it does not appear to turn off. Has anyone ran into this issue?
I guess I might be the only one with this issue. Strange.
Same here, so far the only issue I'm having with the G4, but still annoying
Same here, smart settings is not working properly
It requires data to work.
What data? Home location is set, data is always active..
Llama does a much better job and it's free on the Play Store.
Did you set your GPS to high accuracy and set up your home location. Mine works fine

Is there any way to remain stock, unrooted and have a quick toggle for the location setting (high accuracy, battery saving, device only, off)?
I keep it on battery saving generally to ensure I can make full use of Google Now but toggle location on for navigation as needed. It's clunky to have to go back in to the menu manually and change it to battery saving every time. Any suggestions?
No particularly elegant way.
I do the same as you, but have my authomation app (MacroDroid) show a notification when High Accuracy is set and a press on that notification starts a Macro that uses the Tasker plugin AutoInput to switch back to Battery Saving (MacroDroid can use some Tasker plug-ins). AutoInput allows you to automate various screen touches. So still clunky but allows you to switch back with one press.
There is a Settings Widget in stock that will get you there quicker. When you drop the widget onto your screen, it prompts for the setting shortcut type. Select Location when prompted.
If you install "Power Toggles" from the play store you can customize which quick settings buttons appear and would be able to create a toggle to get into the location settings so you could tap that and you would immediately be in the setting menu you want. This doesn't require root. Unfortunately Power Toggles doesn't seem to have the ability to cycle through those settings at all without root. Getting to that settings screen quickly is nice though.
However, If you have root access you can create a "GPS" toggle which would switch your phone between "Battery Saving" and "High Accuracy" and a long press on that toggle could pull up the location settings menu if you wanted to go to "Device Only" mode. For some reason there doesn't seem to be a way to toggle "Device Only" without going to that menu which is why I have the location menu set up as a long press on that GPS toggle. I typically leave it in "Battery Saving" and if I use maps I will toggle it to "High Accuracy".
