T mobile Modems - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Im looking for the best modems to run on 4.3 tmobile. Can you use the 4.1 or previous firmware modems on 4.3...current set up is jedix2 and almost all the modems I have used drop signal easier than when I was on jedi 20. Any help would be appreciated.

UVUCMK7 is the best option. The only reason to step away grin that is a device unlock situation. Using the 4.1.x modems you will see poor connectivity running on TW 4.3 ROMs. UVUCMK7 seems to have better responsiveness to changing signal values and post call LTE reconnection.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

Are modem's carrier specific? Even after flashing back to ff24 no data. Apn is correct, and no help from Cspire Wireless.

Better modem

Greeting all. I am running a Galaxy Note II stock/rooted AT&T 4.1.2.
My signal seems to drop out frequently when I am traveling and I was wondering if there were a better (subjective I know) modem than the stock one. Thought I would give it a try to see if it helps ease my signal drop.
go to the modem thread and try a different one out

If I am looking at the right thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986480 ) there appears to only be one other modem for ATT (UCALJ2). Am I not looking in the right place?
MC3 is the latest modem, J2 being the first release

UCAMA4
Mr. Robinson has not released a root injected UCAMC3 build to my knowledge. ..but I wish he would. ..as it would greatly simplify the return to stock method for this device. .
But the delay from time of release to the posting of builds on the sammobile website is nothing less than ridiculous. .
And I'm sure once they get it. ..Mr. Robinson will create another excellent resource as he always does. ..g

I rooted using Framaroot and flashed Garwynn's+ agats recovery using mobile odin.
Fellow Virgin Mobile user here
As for my rom i'm still on stock TouchWiz although i do have Agat's Recovery installed. I'm looking around and trying to compare which ROM to flash, and so far i'm leaning towards ReVolt, or i might try and give the official CM 10.1 nightlies a go

I tried that one a few months ago and had GPS issues.
So far for me the most reliable custom ROM has been Dastin's WFTN and the official CM10.1 releases, though YMMV.
Even then I wound up flashing back to stock TouchWiz because of data speeds being faster on TouchWiz/GB28 than on any CM10/ICS or Gingerbread modem I tried.
Plus there were graphics corruption issues with GPS Test+ on every custom ROM I tried.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that it has to do with Mali driver issues, but I'm really not certain why.
As far as Virgin Mobile goes, I've been with them for 4 years come January and I'm not going to make it 5.
Locally, Sprint's network is crap and now that I have a real smartphone instead of a glorified music player like the Intercept, the connection problems are too glaring to overlook.
Come next January I'll probably have a used E4GT for sale cheap.
I'm using the EG30 modem with Dirty Unicorns and my data speeds are a little better then when I was on GB28.
The speeds that I get from speedtest on non-JB modems are very close to the GB28 modem, but not quite as fast under ideal conditions.
This part I understand as the EvDO version connected to under 'About Phone>Status. is A:6 on all of the non-JB modems while it says A:7 or A:8 on GB28.
I could live with that, but the other speed issue is that no matter which modem I've tried, I get a pause during testing speeds about a quarter of the way through the DL test that looks like Mount Everest on the DL graph.
I have no idea if it's something unique to my phone, a glitch in CM, or something to do with Sprint's ****ty local network buildout, but it's easily reproducible on several different custom ROM/modem combinations.
But as I said in my first post, Your Mileage May Vary™.

I'm currently running Carbon Rom. I was on the official CM 10.1 nightlies until they were not longer nightly...more sporadic and if-y. So, I switched.

The first post in a ROM's thread is called the Original Post, or OP. Every rom OP has detailed instructions on how to install, or flash that particular ROM. Good luck, and just make sure you are flashing e4gt roms only, and since I see you are on VM, after you flash, Google how to change the mmsc url so you can send mms. Enjoy!

Can you help me please to install dirty unicorns . i dont know what kernel and moden i need and how to flash. i'm on tw 4.1.2 gb28 kernel version 3.0.74+ garwynn gb27 v0.5.0 tank you man.

How can I make my mobile internet faster? Very poor performance just now.

I'm on revolution HD 19 which is great so far but the mobile internet I'm getting is very slow. This is my second ROM I've had since rooting with similar performance.
I'm with talktalk (runs on the UK vodafone network). My girlfriend is with the same network but gets much much better performance on her nexus 4. My apn settings are correct.
Is it a case of downloading a different modem?
Thanks.
Yes mate. Just flash a new modem. It's easy. Try a couple if your speeds don't improve.
I had real poor signal when I flashed my custom rom but flashed a new modern and hey presto.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply mate. Where would I find different modems? I'm sure their are plenty on this site but what should I actually search for? When I search "modem" on here almost every ROM thread shows up.

Cheers.
From that thread I was able to do a speed test using speedtest, net app. I'm getting
PING 437ms
DOWNLOAD 56kbps
UPLOAD 23kbps
I'm sure thats pretty poor. I'll try some of them modems see if I can get it working better. XX or XW seem to be the UK ones so I'll start with them.
My Baseband version right now is DDDMG1
Make sure you have set your network mode to auto, and not gsm only. Quick to overlook.

[MODEM][JB 4.1.2][CWM][MD7][MG2] MD7/MG2 Modems in CWM Flashable Zip

Ok friends, here you go. I have put together the much requested MD7 and MG2 modems in a CWM/TWRP flashable zip.
Thanks to:
Google and XDA, for obvious reasons
@rwilco12 – for the zip shell used to make these. Please thank him next time you see him for not only this, but for everything else he does on here
@kennyglass123 - For posting guidance and all the awesome moderating he does around town(and congrats on Senior Mod!)
@Stryke_the_Orc - For believing in me, for being a great friend and mentor, and always pushing me to do more
@garwynn – Without you showing me how to “catch” the tar for these, I would have never had them to build these. Thanks for all your help and support.
@remotehugger – For the motivation! I’ve been out of the game for a while, thanks for lighting the fire again!

Just flashed MG2 on my Liquidsmooth 4.3.1 which was based on MD4 and everything is running well so far. Calls work great, texts and GPS as well. No problems thus far. I am getting more consistent 4G signal actually where it doesn't fluctuate anymore.
Confirmed working on 4.4. No field tests yet but working.

Awesome guys! Thanks for the updates. Keep them coming. The more word gets out, the more people can benefit. That's the goal, right? Glad to hear it's working out for most everyone.
