I'm interested in this too. Hopefully there is a way. Waists too much screen space
My suggestion is to just root the phone and install GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys... I did that today, and it's amazing being able to use the full 5" screen for all my apps. Navigation buttons are just a touch/swipe away too.

I tried about GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys, but I don't like having to swipe up to show the keys. I wouldn't mind making them just a little bit shorter.
However, if that isn't possible, I wouldn't mind GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys if I could use the stock HTC Sense 6 system icons for the navigation bar when using GMD auto hide. Is there a way to extract them and do this?

This app is wonderful! Easy to use and a ton of good ways to customize it.
anyone try gravitybox? that works great. change size and colors
Gravity box is the best
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
If you have see no sense in the overload of Gravity Box features and just want to set height of the Notification bar, I would recommend "Dimensions Editor" for Xposed Framework. You can even change the position of Toasts with it (also the Height of Notification Bar).
Trying still now.

Hi fellow note 2 users. You probably know that You can enable on-screen buttons on the note 2 by editing build.prop, and boy how much goodness they add to the daily usage of the note 2, especially when using the S Pen. However, some of Sammy's apps don't play so well with soft buttons and the Camera app is the most annoying one since the main button becomes too hard to hit without hitting the home button instead. Can a kind dev fix that for us on-screen buttons lovers, please

change the navigation bar dpi
1. follow this step to decompile/recompile
2. backup your current framework-res.apk (just in case)
3. after decompile, go into framework1/res/values/dimens.xml, open it using Notepad++
4. search for navigation bar height, navigation bar height landscape and navigation bar width
5. change it into 30, 0 and 24, save
6. recompile the apk
7. put it back to your phone
8. enjoy
thanks a lot

WoW! I think I actually might like this!
FYI: AOKP MR3 just released a way to hide the nav bar and a quick swipe up enables the nave bar to reappear. Just like WebOS!
My problem with PIE is when I have it set to either right side or bottom (easiest to access) it cuts off half of my backspace button on my keyboard as it is reserved for swiping in and PIEing from the right or its hard to click my space bar or punctuation marks if I have it set to the bottom.
Is there anyway to avoid this? Like preferably have it set to force swiping from the bezel, rather than allowing a majority of the finger to be on the screen when swiping up. I've messed with all of the launch setting sizes to no avail.
I have the same problem with my keyboard when pie is set to the bottom. I do not know of any fix. In a few days or so there will be a new release of PA with some impressive fixes that they have done. Take a look at they're (PA) Google+ page.

What about on the right as well? I'm actually running Xenon HD on a recommendation (there's soooo many roms idk what to do with myself) so I'm not sure if the updates will run through to xenon right away :/ might have to try paranoid android then haha

Hi xda
I just want to ask about something, coz I've already search everywhere, and can't get the answer
Ok, here it is. I'm running stock odex DMB2, rooted, and happy with simplistic, xposed, etc. Now I want to try something different, like Tablet UI mod.. I had try xposed app settings. Changing the apps DPI.. Yes it worked, but the TouchWiz didn't get the bottom navbar.. Can you guide me the steps to make my Note 2 look like this (see attachment;most preferably the bottom notification bar..it's interesting..), while my Note 2 still running stock odex DMB2 (because I'm quite satisfied with the stock rom;didn't want to change to custom rom )? Thanks

Adding a line to build.prop (at the end) will enable sofykey navigation bar(virtual key)
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
But, I'm not sure whether it'll be as in the screen shot.

Oh.. I don't have any experience in this. the Nav bar might be like the one in screen shot only if it's dpi is decreased. I think there is Xposed MOD for this but you may have to search for it.
Again I have no clue on how to make it work. We might have to experiment for some time.

I've already tried that to (Xposed Tablet UI). But my status bar is gone and there is a pop up saying: unfortunately system UI has stopped. :silly:
I just read a message from rovo (the one who created xposed framework), he said that it all depends on the ROM itself. In some case, there are ROMs that can handle that xposed tablet UI, but some ROMs can't. Unfortunately, my ROM can handle all kind of xposed mod (greenify, icon themer, sms delivery, multiwindow, etc), but not for this one (xposed tablet ui)
Hello, don't know if it's a new feature from the recent update or not, however I never noticed that before.
HTC Browser after a while hides the navbar.
That would be great, but it's useless for me since the page is not resized, i attached two pictures to let you see that.
Is that normal? I'm using InsertCoin ROM with ART and it may be a ROM issue, but I don't know.

Maybe worth using GMD hide softkeys from the market place. I use it and its brilliant!
This doesn't solve the issue, I'd prefer keeping the navbar than hiding it if the extra space is white.
No it hides the navbar and gives you the extra screen space. Very awesome app. I used it on my previous phones.

I just tried the free one and it gives you an alternative bar with different icons. It doesn't hide the stock one (i can do that from build.prop file, but since the only issue is with the browser I don't want to use another whole bar)

That's what I'd like.
Can I ask which Rom do you use? And do you use art?
Immersive Mode (99cents on Google Play) hides nav bar without needing root.
Same issue here, I'm using Renovate 4.4.3 on ART as well! I'm using chrome beta now, it just keeps the navbar without going immersive.

It can be done and it has been done in the leedroid rom, whether it's battery efficient is up to you to find out... I'm going to assume not though.
Always on will kill the battery on a LCD screen. Best we can do is ambient display.
It's not the same, but you can always double tap the screen and it will turn on for like 5 seconds showing you your notifications
Ambient display can easily be turned on, and seems to be working.

I'm on unlocked and I'm on stock software rooted and I just add my own mods. I'll share them no problem but I'm still figuring how I want to share. I don't really want to make a rom. I could just share the apks and jars to flash or push, then remove the odex files. Right now I have full apm and ambient display added to framework. I made these apm icons to match stock. I also could just give the edits. Ambient display just needs to be unhide really

I'm using this from google play - seems to work OK, although I've not looked into all the settings yet, the proximity sensor one definately works.

To add to the always on display issue. Lcd displays, if kept on for extended periods of time with a constant image, will burn a image into the liquid crystal. Led displays, well can't they are led dots, if they get hot they just turn off. Lcd displays just can't do that.
I'm using Always on Amoled from Google Play. Looks just like S8's. The clock moves quite often so I hope it doesn't burn display. Only problem is that it kills battery quite badly. But if it's in your pocket or face down it's off. Using it as night clock charger plugged in is fine. Check it out, looks awesome
