5. In workspace slide Nav. bar to "0%"
6. Click Apply
7. Exit to home screen

WoW! I think I actually might like this!
FYI: AOKP MR3 just released a way to hide the nav bar and a quick swipe up enables the nave bar to reappear. Just like WebOS!

My problem with PIE is when I have it set to either right side or bottom (easiest to access) it cuts off half of my backspace button on my keyboard as it is reserved for swiping in and PIEing from the right or its hard to click my space bar or punctuation marks if I have it set to the bottom.
Is there anyway to avoid this? Like preferably have it set to force swiping from the bezel, rather than allowing a majority of the finger to be on the screen when swiping up. I've messed with all of the launch setting sizes to no avail.

I have the same problem with my keyboard when pie is set to the bottom. I do not know of any fix. In a few days or so there will be a new release of PA with some impressive fixes that they have done. Take a look at they're (PA) Google+ page.

What about on the right as well? I'm actually running Xenon HD on a recommendation (there's soooo many roms idk what to do with myself) so I'm not sure if the updates will run through to xenon right away :/ might have to try paranoid android then haha

[Q] Any other GNex ROMs with BIG MENU BUTTON?

Okay so I'm sure this probably isn't important to that many people but one of the things I really hated about ICS is the disappearance of the menu button. I don't like the way Google changed things by adding another dotdotdot menu button inside apps, because a lot of times that menu button is at the top of the screen.
This is a problem because this phone is HUEG. Trying to reach that menu button with one hand makes me afraid I'm going to drop my device.
Anyway for most of my time on the GNex I've used Apex ROM, which has had the option to bring back the big menu button which is always visible and fits in line with the rest of the buttons, like so:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Big menu button, right in front of the back button. While the placement is not the best in the world (I'd prefer the back-menu-home-taskswitcher arrangement personally) at least it has the big button. Most other ROMs seem to only have the ability to enable the legacy app dotdotdot menu button permanently.
Now, Apex has been updated and the big menu button is gone, instead replaced with the option to permanently enable the dotdotdot menu button that ICS uses for legacy apps. I don't like this, because it's off-center, looks bad and is more annoying to press.
I'm not particularly keen on sticking with an old version of a ROM if I can avoid it.
My question is this: is there another, or more than one, GNex ROM that lets me have a big menu button as well as keeping my must-have features (longpress volume keys to skip music tracks, multiple lockscreen shortcuts, notification power widget and all that jazz)?
As much as I like Apex (and the dev will be looking into re-adding the big menu button) I'd also like to check out other potential ROMs as well if they also have the big menu button.
I'm rocking foxhound Black Ed 0.6.. uses apex which I prefer and looks like this:

I'm using SlimICS and although the menu button isn't deault, you can set it up how you described, and I'd imagine several of the other ROMS such as AOKP have the ability.
In Slim all you need to do is go to the Advanced Slim Settings and make changes to how many/which keys you want in the "Navigation bar" section, and then change "Menu visibility" to "Always show invisible icons". Now you have the menu button as a regular key, but the three dots don't show.
Strongly agree with your complaint. Came from a gingerbread device here. Had my nexus only a week but gone thru several roms... try liquid smooth. You can customize the hell outta the buttons.
Or try straight AOKP. So many settings, this is one of the basic, easy to change ones.

[Q] Remove bar, dock, icons and all?

Ok first view my screenshot at the bottom of this post.
My current setup:
LauncherPRO, status bar toggled hidden, black background, and custom dock icon images, black (so they appear hidden)
What I want:
Ideally, I want NO dock icons.
I use google gesture search for everything. There is an extra app that makes google gesture pop up when I long-press the search button, so i'd like to remove that icon as well.
Please help with any ideas!
Also I am liking the idea of invisible widgets.
I want to have secret ones, where I scroll left-side to open x app, or pinch and zoom one area of the screen to toggle wifi, etc.

Bump.
Essentially I want no homescreen.
Using the search button long-press shortcut to gesture search is all I need.
I might throw a hidden lock on there as well.
I want it to appear that my device is powered down to the average user.

I use Go launcher and Swipe pad. Nothing else on my homescreen. Toggling statusbar (swipe up or down) and no icons in my on my taskbar. I double tap to get to my app drawer. I use swipe pad for quick access to what I use most. I like it no one can figure out my phone.

Swipe navigation bar to go back?

I want to only have a home button on my navigation bar and I was wondering if there was an app where if you swipe from left to right on the navigation bar it could act as a back button? I think it would be cool because it can replace that button and make it feel like you are actually swiping back.
Great idea, hopefully other people think so and it catches someone's eye that can make it happen. I don't know of anything like that unfortunately.

Check LMT launcher. Let's you assign almost anything as a gesture and what the gesture will do. Can also have no Nav bar and with lmt, have a pie appear with standard Nav bar commands.
I couldn't locate through the market but came across it and use the set up from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497558
Its a cool setup and the link to LMT are in the op

Here is just the LMT Launcher link
In the app you can set the field of where to check for gestures on screen. You could play with it and have it run along bottom of screen over your one button Nav bar I guess. Here it is:

I'll check it out. Seems very in-depth and I don't see any single left to right swipe gestures....just double. But yea hopefully someone does see it and does something with the idea. I remember there was the swipe the nav bar and screen turns on or off or whatever so shouldn't be too hard to make it go back instead....says the non app maker.
There's a thread in this forum with soft key mods and one of the icon sets is for the iPhone home button. In that icon pack the back and recents are just black icons. You could save those icons over the current ones in System.apk and you would only have a home button but back/recent still functional. I know that's not what you originally asked for but just a suggestion.

I remember that this was asked for in the beginning of time (for the nexus), but no one was up for the challenge. I think it would be easier to do now tho when the nav bar already has the swipe up gesture.
It would be awesome if anyone is capable of making this.
Great idea! :good:
You can use a gesture app to do this. Check out "GMD GestureControl Lite ★ root" http://bit.ly/zeCp0K
With this app you can set it up to use the single left to right swipe and only be activated on that part in the screen of choose. I use this app for all the main control since I have no soft keys.

Yea that is what I'm doing now. Just replaced the icons with the black section of images.
Works for now but still think the left to right swipe gesture would be cool.

Disable Soft Keys?

Hi there
How do I disable the soft on screen keys?
They get in the way and take up space when gaming or sometimes watching films I want to be able to swipe down when I dont need them or for them to disappear automatically.
Im on stock, unrooted.
Thanks
Flash a rom like cm that includes support for extended desktop. That's exactly what you're looking for
Yeah Just use Cm.
Just hold the power button and press disable keys.
Works perfect! Gaming is 2x better with it gone now!

Hide Bottom Bar
Alternatively, use this.
Grr, sorry, mainly a lurker, and XDA won't let me post a link. Search for 'Hide Bottom Bar' in the play store.
Requires root, works well for me for gaming and ebooks.
Are the cm roms stable?
Yeah, they're pretty stable, even the nightlies.

Cool thanks think I'll wait for the stable though skip the nightlies

Add this line to your build.prop.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
It makes the phone think it has capacitive buttons and disables the nav bar.
then just use LMT Launcher to navigate though the phone.
LMT Launcher-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
I use the app full screen toggle then I use button savior to take place of the soft keys the top pic is with my soft keys still hidden look at the lower right to see an grey arrow by my l key. The second pic the soft keys are now out. Notice I still have my my status bar which u don't get with using full screen mode on roms like cm.

Home from app drawer?

I'm new to Nova Launcher, and to be honest 3rd party launchers in general. And the only question I have so far while using Nova is that once I'm in my app drawer hitting my home button closes the app drawer and zooms me out to see all screens I have with the option of wallpaper, widget or app to add to a screen. Rather than just taking me to my homepage like the home button does from any other screen.
Is this normal? is there a way to have hitting home from the app drawer just take me to my homepage?
You can turn that off in Nova settings. Its in gesture and inputs

Thanks all, that did it. :good:
Actually, in doing that I lose the option to double tap the home button to bring up those options such as apps, widgets and wallpaper. Looking under gestures though the toggle is on that says "return to default page on first tap, action on second" but there is no thing from the second.
The only time it seems to work as the settings suggest is if you have more than 1 screen. Once I created a blank screen to the right of my default page then it worked as it should. With just one it doesn't.

This is how I have it set. Edit: it works better if you set home button to go to default page
Well my initial problem was fixed by setting the home button to the default screen. However if you have only 1 screen you then lose the ability to add screens and widgets, even if the toggle is 'on' that says double tapping the home button will still give you that option. But once you add a second blank screen that toggle switch enabling the action of double tapping the home button then works. So it has to be a bug, I just don't know if their aware of it or not because I suspect most people use more than 1 screen and have never noticed it doesn't work with 1.
