Hi there,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition (SM-P600) as well as the earlier model (N8000).
When I browse to certain websites that are using changing background images (like http://www.belvicci.com/) the background is changing very smoothly on the N8000 ("old" Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1), while on the "new" Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition (SM-P600) the background is changing with "blocks", not smooth at all.
I tested this on more than one device and in all kind of browsers, with Chrome I still have an "acceptable" result, but all others (stock browser, Dolphin, ...) the reults are always the same: ugly blocked background-change on the 2014 model, nice and smooth background-change on the older model...
Does anyone has an explenation for this phenomenon? And what's more: does anybody know how to solve it?
I'm running stock Android on all models by the way, 4.1.2 on the older tablets and 4.3 on the 2014 model.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I just tested the website you gave. You are right, Dolphin is not smooth but I found Chrome to be very smooth when changing images, not sure why though. Try doing this in chrome browser:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/speed-chrome-android-tweak-t2706830
That may help
I have just visited the site with my p600 and UC Browser and the background images are super smooth changing
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9505 mit Tapatalk
Chrome and stock browser changing bg image very smoothly, running mk1 europe (no multi-user)
Almost only in Dolphin on P6 P600
In Chrome the transition effect in between the changing images is smooth on all devices, no problem there. In stock browser, there is almost no transition, the images are just changing almost instantly from one to another. In Dolphin the screen shows some "ugly jumping blocks" between the images, almost as if the device has not enough memory to render everything as it's supposed to.
First I thought this problem was Dolphin-related since Chrome did well on the same device, but then I started testing a bit further. On my "old" Note (N 8000) there was no problem at all with this websites background, in any of the browsers. So I took my son's Note (N 8010) with same result: everything went very smooth, also in Dolphin browser.
So l could only conclude it was related to the device : in stock browser on the P600 the transition effect is not shown 100% as it should and in Dolphin it's screwed up completely.
Problem is I like Dolphin very much, besides it has very nice features its the only browser that allows me to browse full screen without there's any bar (toolbar, addressbar,...) on top. So it would be a bummer if I have to change browser, depending on the website l plan to visit...

Hi. Didn't find anything similar, so here's the question: does anyone know if Galaxy Tab will use the same RFS filesystem as Galaxy S?
I am assuming it does according to the benchmarks.
So bad news for Galaxy S owners.
If you're right, Smasung will not change the filesystem type in the official froyo release.
Its a good news/bad news situation... Bad news, samsung are sticking with their retard-device-crippling file system. Good news, we already have a half dozen or more different lag fixes. So once you get that up and running we'll off ahead of the pack again anyway...
I imagine sztupy from the SGS forum could probably whip together a ULFK for the Tab in a day's work. Seeing as it's just a kernel change, and the kernels are probably 95% similar between the SGS and the Tab...
Now to buy him a Tab to play with
I v been using galaxy tab for the last 10 days. I dont experiance any lag . Yes the benchmark almost the same but no lag .
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
There is zero lag on the Tab and i have been using it for two weeks with 90 apps installed.
The browser however, is another story - even with flash disabled.
Using Galaxy TAB since two weeks and I can confirm no lag at all, Samsung Browser is terrible written software, but who needs ? Last Dolphin version is perfect on large display, and is very fast and smooth.
So, the question is: Why TAB have no lag if the filesystem is the infamous RFS ? Maybe RFS isn't guilty ?

Yes, I can confirm the issue...
Some versions here, I can not use Chrome on Galaxy Nexus. Even with only one tab open, it crashes the phone. Using the standard android browser everything flows smoothly. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? For other phones with similar hardware, I do not see it happen. I searched but found few people talking about it.
I am using the Stock rom 4.3 Jelly bean, but even with custom roms KitKat is the same thing.

Chrome for Android is a resource eater. I have been using it since a month, and today I have used stock android browser, and it feels much more responsive and smooth

Please, close Thread. Thanks
I just sold my iPad Air and bought the Tab S 10.5. Didnt get here yet but been getting things ready. I see a lot of people dont like Chrome, I dont either lately, extremely buggy on everything I own. My S5 didnt come with stock browser, but I flashed one I found in the S5 forum. Has anyone done the same on the Tab S? Thanks.
The tab s has the stock internet browser out of the box. Chrome is also included which sucks with the lag in it. Firefox is great with no issues.
Appreciate it! Didnt know it came with it.
SSL errors now with the stock browser on Kitkat
I run the latest Chrome on my Note 3 (Lollipop) without issues but on my tablet (Samsung Tab S 10.5 LTE -T805-, also on Lollipop, v. 5.0.2) ANY version of Chrome newer than 47.0.2526.83 do not hide the taskbar after scrolling down the page anymore!
Or, to be precise, they work fine when first installed (or if I clear all data) but soon after the first "reboot" (of the tablet or of the app itself, for example swiping it away from the task switcher or when it gets quitted for lack of RAM and I go back to it).
All of the above is true even on the latest Chrome Beta and Chrome Dev!
When I first experienced this problem I was still running KitKat (for several reasons I didn't want to upgrade to Lollipop), on that tablet, and in fact I updated it to Lollipop practically only to see if that would solve the problem!
Is there anything that I could try?? (BTW I am rooted)
I use the Tab S really for everything, on trips abroad I don't even bring my Windows laptop anymore, but Web browsing is normally the main task of the Tab S!
Hello I just ordered one of these off eBay for $80 in excellent condition but I feel like I should've asked if sketchbook runs smooth enough on here? I know it's old hardware, but still better than Snapdragon 410 in Galaxy A tab. I wanted a small tablet with s pen (Wacom). I don't need it for anything else I have an iPhone 6s and i7 desktop and Skylake i3 laptop
what version JB 4.1.2 or 4.2.2? Hopefully you didn't get 4.4.2.
As of this month I finally got the best ever overall operation in 4.4.2. But it is not anywhere as perfect as 4.1.2 or 4.2.2
If by chance you have KK, you can either root and use a custom kernel or do the S Note fix to correct the spen pixel issue
It is easy to do, but any complain about it being trial and error. Once you get the knack, you'll wonder why you had such a problem in the first place.
I have the app in question along with Layer Paint HD, and Paper Artist. once you align your spen in KK, you won't have any issues with drawing apps.
There are custom ROMs that correct the spen issue but some still need work as they are not 100% fully functional as stock is.
Since I require perfect miracast functions, with minimal bugs with a nice layout. I was forced into manually selecting components from S5, Tab 4 and Note 2 stock ROMs, along with some ported system apps distributed by Devs. Some very few apps are from dead ROMs, where the Dev let rot away.
Yes you can run S5 apps in stock form, just need to root and run Xposed with app settings. Some apps require 320 or so DPI, and others may require 190 or 220. It is a trial and error, but they are stock, and with a build.prop mod, you can update them on Play or Galaxy.
I run the latest versions of Tab 4 version and S5 version of Peel Smart Remotes. As S5 has a better layout.
Some apps like Kids mode need a small tweak with a saved older sub app to run, though the lock screen widget interactions and gator animations are missing.
I run my N5110 as a T330 (Tab 4 8.0) in my build prop, 90% of the time, with out any issues with my apps. The remainder of my usage is in S5 form, as my Chrome Dev browser with Samsung's chrome customization system app, operates a wee better browsing on the Internet. Seems that the updated versions are not so device dependant in the build.prop requirements.
Hello thanks! Sounds good I don't have the device yet. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions. Hopefully it's not 4.4.2 like you said.
Okay sadly it has 4.4.2 Can yuu point me in the direction of the spen fix?
By the way I have SAMSUNG-SGH-I467 sounds like it's hard to root this device?
autocorrect sucks on your thread title...
Smith or smooth? XD
