Guys, I bought a USB OTG cable today. Nothing special, but my GNexus doesn't want to work with me. No matter what I connect - USB mouse, keyboard, flash drive [w/ StickMount by Chainfire] - Nexus doesn't recognize it. Tried wiping and reflashing my ROM (CM10, today's nightly) but it doesn't help. I use Air Kernel, but flashing franco.kernel or using the stock one doesn't work too. It looks like there's no power in Nexus' micro socket. However, when I connect a USB hub with external power source Nexus starts charging. Any ideas?
Best,

Have you tried turning off "fast charge"?

You say that when you connect the Nexus to a powered USB hub, it starts to charge. Does that mean you have the USB-OTG cable hooked to the Nexus, then some sort of gender changing adapter to hook it to the USB hub? What happens if you plug the flash drive into the USB hub while the Nexus is "charging"? Does the Nexus continue to charge and you get access to the flash drive???

I just have a USB hub with a socket for power adaptor - it's nothing special. However, when and I connect anything to my hub while Nexus is "charging" it still doesn't recognize this device. I'm outta ideas.

Darn. I was hoping you had somehow magically discovered that the phone can charge itself while still being in USB Host Mode. That'd be absolutely fantastic!
Try it on stock JB, CM10 isn't even alpha. Plus, make sure any custom kernels you plan on trying support it.

I've tried CM9 stable a few moments ago - doesn't work.
Your cable is probably defective. I just bought mine, works great, but in reading reviews many people reported defective cables.

Just bought the second one - still doesn't work. Why?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1092493.html
Check out that link to see a potential cable problem.
The roms [cm9] and kernel [stock] should work for you.
Is the cable you are buying specifically stating usb otg on the package? If not, buying 2 cables from the same store of the same type won't change anything.
This is what works for mr.

The second one is different - I'n sure it's not the cable problem. Something with my software? I doubt it. Hardware problem?

I seem to get quite a bit of opposition to this but as you'll see there are links included..one from Samsung and if you look in the manual that came with phone, it also talks about the OEM chargers. Try disabling NFC then try yo charge. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841584

Turning NFC off doesn't help. USB host still does not work.

Do you know someone else with a Galaxy Nexus, to test the cables and ensure they do actually work?
I've tried them on HTC One X - they DO work :/

It was suggested 2x in the thread to go completely stock [rom + kernel].
You stated trying CM10 and CM 9, as well as stock kernel, but you never say if you tested stock/stock.
Mkay, I'll try the stock JB tomorrow.

Accidentally thanked you.
What I'm trying to say is, AFAIK stock kernel doesn't support OTG. So try going stock then flashing a kernel.
Blazing on my Nexus Prime
I bought this dock, knowing it would be a crap shoot as to whether the usb audio out would work.
EZOpower
I am unable to get it to work.
I can't find any settings to try to invoke the usb audio out settings. I can't find dock settings, etc.
Can anyone help?
Thanx,
Ron
Go into settings, then scroll down to accessory. See if checking any of these boxes will help. I don't have a dock, so I'm unsure if they work with a non oem dock. But it's worth a shot.

Thank you!
Audio output mode did it.
There is some trash in the signal, but otherwise it works good!

Even better is using an external usb dac. Am using an ODAC with mine in the car and when at my desk. The sound is pristine, as good as any source I've ever head, seriously.
Hopefully you guys can give me some insight here. I've gone through 5 mini usb cables and 1 car charger in the last few weeks. They'll work perfectly for charging my phone and then just stop out of the blue and never work again. I've tried different brands and it's happening with all of them. Could it be the phone?

Are you using any fast charge kernel?
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
Your phone is just drawing power, so it's unlikely that your phone smoked your charger.
Check your wall.
No, I haven't flashed any kernels and it's happened with 3 different ROMs

That was my initial thought too but it just seems strange for so many of these things to just break all at the same time s

So I'm looking to buy the new nexus 7 but I was wondering if the new one had the same problem as the old where it got slower over time and with more memory used.
And is there any good dock like the old had with the official pogo pin dock?

No, that was a problem with a certain function, called fstrim being missing from the other version, this version has no such deficit.

N7 2013 has no pogo pins, but Asus came out with a nice dock recently, it comes in wired and wireless: http://www.talkandroid.com/197906-asus-releases-wireless-and-wired-docks-for-nexus-7-2013/
