Hello all.
I'm very interested in this Nokia Phone.
Some of older Nokia phones had great audio solutions. N91 is noted for having *the best* audio quality of *any* phone made up tody.
In Android world, the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 is also highly scored in that matter too.
What sound system has the Nokia X?
Do it has a dedicated chipset like wolfson or toshiba, or it is the standard codec implemented on the system chipset??
Thanks,

Soon Orange (France Telecom) is starting to roll out "HD Voice" cristal clear voice quality in as far as I know Switzerland and UK. Moldavia already has it, since it was the testing ground. HD Voice is relatively cheap to implement on base stations and promises noise reduction and cristal clear voice transmission (feels like caller is next to you). I know that most HTC phones sport the so called AMR-WD codec for music, but what about the voice part of the phone? Is the Desire capable of this great improvement in voice quality?
No Orange in Germany, where the codec was tested in 2008, but unfortunately none of the major operators has jumped on the bandwagen yet. But if it becomes a must have in Orange markets...who knows.
AMR-WB codec frequency bandwith: now without it 200-3400 Hz, new 50-7000 Hz
It's probably possible once there is source code available. Whether the microphone on the Desire is actually good enough to notice any difference is another question. The Desire's hardware is based around the software that is intended to run on it at the time of launch and therefore the microphone probably won't have as great a range as the AMR-WD codec supports. Plus, HD Voice stipulates the presence of 2 microphones, and the Desire only has one.
Thanks for the feedback. Currently supported handsets seem to be Nokia 5230, Nokia X6, Nokia E5, Nokia N8, Samsung Omnia Pro, and Sony Ericsson Elm. I hope at least one HTC smartphone is added to the list soon.
The audio company Fiio has been talking about creating a USB DAC that works specifically with ICS. Problem is, I've only ever read of vague support of the idea from Google and zero software suggesting this is even an option. Has anyone else tried to make this work and, if so, does it? Love to know what the gentleman who created Voodoo Control thinks about this.
If it ever did work, you might see a huge migration of audiophiles from the iPhone (which allows for limited DAC access to limited devices through the dock) to Android (which would allow access to budget USB DACs costing hundreds of dollars less).
I'd really like to know this too. The internal DAC in the SGSII sucks, and it doesn't even have any kind of unamplified line-out. If I could use an external DAC that would solve all (or at least most) of my audio issues with it.
There are some custom ROMs for some devices that are working with USB DACs. Nook color, Archos G9, Nexus 1 and maybe some other devices. There is some experimental USB DAC support in RedPill Kernell for SGS2 but I couldn't make it work with my SGS2+FIIO E10+USB powered HUB.
I have a chinese tablet, Ainol Novo 8 Adv and there are some ROMs that have the libraries needed, but there is no way to route android audio to the USB DAC. Alsa recognizes the DAC but nothing happens.
We should ask Google to implement it. Look at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1490151
USB DAC's Working on GS3 too...
Do you think this Nokia model is worth its price? What do you think about its specification and functions?
I think it's worth the price, it running pretty smooth even with this bad hardware, and apps is not a problem since you can use nokia own map app, and there are many third party stores where you can download more than 500k Android apps. But ofc u can get GAPPS to nokia X
But i find the device to be very good for it's price.

This device seems solid, don't know if it used tweaked qualcomm dalvik, if not it may be worth a try to have even faster device.
The specs seem reasonable for the price. Also interesting from a development and support point of view - it wasn't that long ago that low end Android phones still had 480x320 (e.g., Samsung Galaxy Young), and such phones are still on sale today. The installed userbase moves slower, so there are still phones at 480x320 or even 320x240 in use. So it's nice that for anything on Nokia X, we have an absolute minimum of 800x480.
I tried the UI out in the Nokia X emulator, and it seemed nice.
It will be interesting to see how many Android applications Nokia X launches with from Nokia's own Nokia Store. They seem to have done the cunning move of partnering with 3rd party Android app sites to port apps - I got an email telling me they'd already ported my apps, and they were ready to publish.
A 5 inch android phone from Nokia is really worth the price of just 109 euro I think. I will probably buy one as soon we can get custom roms for it.
Nokia XL

Nokia plans to release Nokia XL Q2 2014, much better specs than the first announced Nokia X, I'm worried about performance, compared to other Android devices, it runs Dual Core 1 GHz ARM Cortex A5 CPU, Adreno 203 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset with 768 MB RAM.

It's worth it's price, nowadays many local companies release android smartphones that are almost same as branded Smartphones, specially in terms of specifications. Nokia X & XL specifications are considered budget to mid-range bracket, according to tech blogs and forums, Some say the downside of this phone are lack of google applications, Nokia X & XL don't have applications such as Google Playstore, Google Maps & Gmail, however nokia provided applications, namely Nokia apps Store, via side-load.
IMHO it is absolutely worth the price coz in this range we have galaxy young, galaxy fame, xperia e, xperia j, lg l3, lg l5, desire 200, desire 300 all of which suck. If you buy any chinese phones then they have slow mediatek chipsets and no custom roms.
Thus to me this seems the best option in the price
Buying a nokia device is always better. 5 months back we all were using 512MB ram device . So 768 MB ram is not so low. And after seeing the quality of lumia devices we can go for X series.
Nokia is giving something different. We should try it. Its the combination of Windows phone and android so .. something what we want.

It would even be more of a worthy buy if Nokia allowed us to unlock the bootloader.

Hi,
I do have a hearing aid (ReSound) and want to connect it to the phone using the ReSound app (via Bluetooth).
Has anyone here already done this? I read about connecting the hearing aid to the phone and it seems there may be problems with Android phones.
AFAIK connecting the ReSound hearing aid to a iPhone 5/5C/5S works like a charm (hearing the phone calls via the hearing aid - like a Bluetooth headset) but not with Android as there is one of the Bluetooth profiles missing in Android that is needed for the connection.
Can anyone confirm, that connecting the ReSound hearing aid to an Android phone (preferably the HTC ONE M8 as I alread own one) works?
(Sorry for my bad English - it's not my mother tongue.)
Thanks!
Chris
According to Mohammed Qasim Shiraz the UK product manager for GN ReSound - http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...phones-are-supercharging-hearing-aids-1260865
"Building the connectivity into iPhones and iPads needed direct work with Apple, and while phones like the Galaxy S5 have the necessary compatibility, Shiraz said it wasn't that simple, although admitted that owners of popular Android phones might be able to use the LiNX in the future too:
The biggest struggle with Android is the platforms they operate on. iOS is one platform, but with Android we're looking at over 1200 platforms."
Apparently Bluetooth 4 is only part of the connection equation and Apple/Linx have worked out a proprietary feature that only works with the iPhone. Looks like until HTC? or Samsung? decide they want to add hearing aid compatability we androidians won't be connecting without an intermediate device.
Currently looking into doing this setting the thread is a couple years old hoping maybe something change Resound LiNX2 9 with Samsung s6
Resound LINX2 works with Android now. Officially on Resound.com (http://www.resound.com/en-US/compatibility) only listed Samsung brand, but it seems that it works with all Android version higher than ver 4. I'm using LG V10 (Android 6.00) and it works fine. However, the app only allows to change environment (preprogrammed when the HA is set up), adjust volume on the left and right hearing aids. Streaming is only applicable to iOS, for Android a $300 Resound Unite Phone Clip+
From Resound Q&A
Can I stream audio directly from the Android phone?
A: The technology in Android phones do not currently support direct streaming of audio to the hearing aid. Android users are encouraged to utilize the ReSound Unite Phone Clip+ for this enhanced set of streaming capabilities to their ReSound hearing aid.
Can we somehow solve the streaming issue? Obviously android phones can connect now, but just needs to be detected as a streaming device.
Hi, first, sorry for my english, it's almost certain that I will mistake some words.
I've read different info about the presence of a internal DAC on the phone, for example poweramp don't see anything for the hi fi option, but on google many people talk about a internal dac for a hi fi quality.
So, is it present or not?
The phone has a 3.5mm jack, so it has to have an internal DAC.
No there is no hifi dac on this phone.

The P2 has a Snapdragon 625 processor, the following is listed on their advanced spec sheet.
Qualcomm Aqsticâ„¢
+ Crystal clear VoLTE w/ Ultra HD
Voice (EVS)
+ High fidelity music playback
24bit/192kHz
+ Dolby 5.1 support
Built-in Qualcomm Aqustic central audio processor with Lenovo configured Texas Instrument TAS2555 SMART amplifier, providing the ability to play audio files up to 192 kHz / 24-bit. Sources here, here and here.
Looks pretty good on paper, but the DAC really isn't that good.
