I got the Kindle Fire Ftility 0.9.9 and ran the install_drivers.bat and then plugged in my kindle fire. This is where I encountered my first problem. I had already rooted and installed cyanogenmod 10, so Windows was seeing the Kindle in device manager as a portable device. Go into your kindle go to settings > about tablet > and click on build number until it unlocks developer mode. Then under settings go into developer settings and enable usb debugging mode. Next, click on settings > storage > and the settings box in the upper right hand corner and click usb settings. Uncheck the Media Device MTP. Now when you connect the kindle it will show up as an ADB composite device and will not be listed under portable devices. Now when you run run.bat it should say adb online, you might see boot status unkown. If you see boot status unknown power on your kindle slide the thing and it should be asking you to verify an rsa key. Click ok on your kindle. Now when you press the number for refresh status in Kindle Fire Utility you will see it online, and the bootmode should say 4000.
Now to the second problem. I've got the kindle fire utility running adb is running boot mode 4000 everything looks good. I press 2 in Kindle Fire Utility to do all of its magic it reboots in fast mode and then it locks up. No matter what I did I could not get it to work. After booting in fast mode it sees the kindle fire as an unknown usb device and updating the driver and leading it to the .inf file included with the kindle fire utility would not work, giving me the error message that it is an incompatible driver. I was reading about not trying this with USB 3.0 ports and sure enough this stuck on fastboot mode did not happen when I brought my kindle into my bedroom computer with USB 2.0 ports and ran the same kindle fire utility 0.9.9 and pressed 2 to let it do all its magic and it rebooted the kindle into fastboot and then windows detected it and it all worked perfectly. I've got the new twrp and kitkat cyanogenmod 11 running fine.
Debug mode, and USB 2.0 ports. (Windows not detecting the kindle after going into fastboot mode was particularly frustrating. On the USB 2.0 computer it just worked as easily as I think it should have in the first place.)
When you've got KFU running and you press 2 in its options and get your kindle totally rooted, don't forget to go back into your kindle settings > storage > and click on that box in the upper right hand corner and usb settings, and turn back on your MTP... so windows will see your kindle next time you wanna copy something to it.

Hi.
I tried to install cyanogenmod on my Kindle Fire. Unfortunately, my device has been bricked....
First of all, I installed sdk manager with platform tools and google usb driver. I did everything to computer can work with Kindle Fire (finally I used "Kindle Fire Driver" pack because when I want to install driver by "Kindle Fire Utility" I can see error, because I haven't english version of Windows).
In the end I turned on "Kindle Fire Utility", I connected device to computer. Device was seen in the computer and "KFU". Then I gave a command to install root and superuser. After this command, I read my device will be relaunch in fastboot mode. KFU tried to download and install
TWRP, but it wasn't complete, because "KFU" couldn't connect with server. Application finished work and my Kindle Fire has been frozen. Now I can see only "Kindle Fire" logo. When I connect Kindle Fire, computer don't recognize it.
What Can I Do? I read that device is again and again in fastboot mode. What should I do to bring this device to life?
I read any command, but I can't do nothing, because computer can't see device.
Please, help me . Thanks in advance and best regards.
And...sorry for my english, I hope You'll understand me.

If i am correct, you should be able to turn it off by holding the power button until the screen turns black while stuck... then just reboot normally.
Thanks for reply. Unfortunately each time when I turn on device, it's stuck on logo .
Edit: When I turn on KF I can see Kindle Fire logo all time, it doesn't disappear.

Sorry, im sort of new here so i kinda guessed. :/
I hope someone else sees this thread.
EDIT:There may be hope! According to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832812 . He has the same problem... try booting into the recovery menu then clear the cache.
The problem is my device has stock bootloader installed, so I can't do this .
I will read some articles, maybe I bring this device to life, but I'm losing hope. Drivers are installed correctly (I think so) and computer recognized unknown device (with problems) - I can't do nothing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833361
look
go back to the kindle fire utility and choose option 1 then choose the option with the 4000 number and thats it.
Ok, you're right! Kindle Fire change bootmode from 4000 (normal) to fastboot (4002). When I plug and unplug device, computer doesn't recognize it. But when I turn on device and connect to computer - it works! I can see ADB Composite ADB Interface.
Thanks for all reply .
Good

Is it up and running m8?:good:
I'm having this same problem with the computer not recognizing the kindle as it is stuck on the boot screen. However, nothing I do gets the computer to recognize that the KF is plugged in. Further, after initially only being frozen on the KF boot screen, now when I plug in the KF it just flashes the "Kindle Fire" screen over and over, shutting itself on and off in an endless loop. Computer can't recognize the KF, none of the utilities pick it up and I don't know how to go back and uninstall the drives because the device itself won't even show up on my computer. Everyone who has this boot screen problem seems to fix it by changing to or from fastboot, but my device doesn't seem to be able to communicate with the computer at all any more. Suggestions?

Do you have TWRP or any other bootloader installed?
I've attempted to root my kindle fire with the kindle fire utility and it wasn't 100% successful.
Im stuck on the kindle fire screen where it's booting up and it's on an endless cycle whether
plugged into the computer, or charging through the outlet. It's also completely unrecognized
when I do plug it into my laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated to unbrick it.
Important: When the battery wasn't dead it just stayed at the kindle fire and recognized.
But using Kindle Fire Utility and a few other unbricking programs could not find the device.
uh yeah a usb drive, pedrive universal usb creator and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850038
I had a similar experience today rooting my friends kindle fire... The kf utility kept giving me a error, something about removing a root check. And it just kept booting into recovery so on boot up where twrp gives you the 3 options... Normal boot, recovery, or change bootmode I just selected change bootmode and it booted right on up and worked fine...root is good and alls was well every since... Not saying this will solve your problem but just figured I'd share incase... Goodluck!

Here is what I did to fix mine
Hello,
First things first, did you have ADB installed correctly?
I had the same issue that you are having now and I was freaking out.
I was sure my kindle was bricked and my wife was going to be pizzed at me.
After about 2 hours of searching the forums, I found out that getting stuck at the kindle logo screen is pretty common.
When you are stuck at this screen you are stuck in "fast boot"
Here is what I did to fix mine.
Mine was having the exact same issue as yours.
I could not get my PC to recognize my kindle at all and I was stuck at the logo screen.
1. Unplug kindle from PC
2. Hold down power button for 30 seconds until it powers off
3. Plug kindle into PC and power it on
4. More than likely PC will still not recognize it
5. Open Kindle Fire Utility program and choose Option 1 for boot menu
6. Then press 1 again to tell kindle to boot normally and press enter
7. The KFU should say something like "kindle is being told to boot normally"
8. Once kindle reboots, you should be good to go
9. PC should recognize kindle now
I would say once this is done, uninstall your drivers for kindle and reboot your PC
Once PC is back up, reinstall the ADB drivers and try KFU again.
As a side note, ADB would not work on my PC which is running XP
I was able to use KFU on my wife's PC which is running windows 7 and I know have root access.
I am currently running JandyCane on my kindle
All I am left with is "Waiting for device" in kindle fire utility..
try this

OK, what happened when you plugged it back into your PC did it recognize it?
Can you uninstall the drivers for it and then reinstall the drivers for it?
What OS are you running?
I don't use Windows so I couldn't say for sure whether this works or not, but it's worth a try.

Be sure that in your computer > Device Maanger > Kindle Fire is not marked with yellow triangle. This is the only reason it is not detected by the KFU 0.9.6 . It happened to me as well, but was able to re-root my kindle.

Trying to be as thorough as possible:
I am running a Kindle Fire with software version 6.3.1, which was previously rooted until software update. (Curse you Amazon!)
My computer has Windows 7 64bit
I downloaded adt-bundle-windows-x86_64 and ran SDK Manager.
Ran and closed Eclipse although I am not sure why or what to do with it.
Downloaded/installed:
Android SDK Tools
Android SDK Platform-tools
Android 4.2 and all attendant programs
All of the Extras including Google USB Driver.
Downloaded KFU v0.9.6.
Ran “install drivers” (Also omitted this step after uninstalling in subsequent attempts)
Ran “run.bat.”
In the cmd window that opens I get the KFU menu but under that is listed:
ADB Status: Offline
Boot Status: Unknown
I have also gotten:
ADB Status: Online
Boot Status: Unknown
This happens ad lib whenever it feels like it.
The Kindle never shows anything but the “You can now transfer files, etc” screen.
I have gone from the KFU menu to Bootmode Menu and chosen Normal (4000), as well as, Fastboot. It says “Oops...something went wrong. We are unable to locate your Kindle Fire. Make sure it is plugged in and powered on.” (It was.)
I have restarted both the Kindle Fire and the PC repeatedly. Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Uninstalled/reinstalled the software that comes with SDK Manager.
Device Manager says under ADB Interface that it is Android Composite ADB Interface. Occasionally, however, I have had it listed further down the list as Kindle with the Yellow Error triangle and I have manually installed the drivers from there.
Note: I have also tried:
KindleFireRootNew631 which didn't work at all for me.
SuperOneClick v2.3.3.0 which tells me alternatively that my device appears to be already rooted, which is most definitely is not, and nothing...just kills ADB server and then starts ADB server and then....nada... Although the Windows circle thingie keeps circling, the task manager says it is “Not Responding”.
I have moved the USB port that I am using, always on one of the Mobo backplate USB's.
Changed cables.
Used a different computer.
Have resisted the urge to factory reset the device and/or break it in half!
If you can still transfer files, move everything you want off to your computer, then factory reset. Then try reinstalling drivers and running kfu

Have you tried using a factory reset cable ??? as they are different than a regular data cable .for my 1st gen kindle fire i used the factory cable that came with my first kindle black and white that used the e- ink without any problems whatsoever .you should be able to browse the forums to find one for sale i'm pretty sure you can also buy one straight from amazon

I have a Kindle Fire 2. I received it in this state and do not know exactly what was done previously.
On power up, it goes to the Kindle Fire logo, then to a blank screen. All I can do here is hold down power to power it off.
I have a factory original cable. Connecting to a PC, it goes to a fastboot screen with a green/red traffic light with the green light flashing. If I use a PC that previously had a Kindle Fire connected, the device is recognized. However, I get "device not found" or similar when attempting to use any options on the Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility 1.1, or Kindle Fire Utility.
On a PC that did not have a Kindle Fire previously connected, device manager sees it as an unknown device (or rather a particular non-Kindle device--don't have it here it with me and will update with that info if it is relevant). I have loaded drivers using ADB but the PC does not recognize it as a Kindle. As I expected, neither utility recognizes the connected Kindle here either.
Any advice on where to go from here? The hurdle seems to be just getting the PC talking to the Kindle and I'm not sure how to proceed.
I got the same problem, any helps
Sorry, I never got it working. It's collecting dust at the moment.

Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility 1.1, and Kindle Fire Utility are for the Kindle Fire 1 only
I have a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 3rd gen that I rooted running the 4.5.5.1. It popped up a message saying I should upgrade to 4.5.5.2, and dumbly I allowed it. Now it boots up to the "Fire System Recovery" menu, allowing me to "Reboot your Kindle" or "Reset to Factory Defaults". Both options ultimately lead back to this menu. I assume this was caused by the root.
I attempted to use the KFHD recovery tool from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011126
But it sticks on the "waiting for devices". When I reboot the kindle while connected to my Win10 PC, the PC recognizes a device for about 15 seconds, then disconnects. As mentioned, the recovery tool never recognizes the device.
I'm in over my head, how do I get the kindle up and running again?

this is only for kindle fire 1 (2011)
there is a separate section for your device see

Ah, thank you for pointing that out. I didn't find a similar tool for the HDX on XDA, does one exist?
On my windows 10 computer, the Kindle briefly shows up to ADB as "0123456789ABCDEF UNAUTHORIZED" and I can't run any commands on it.
I'm trying to get a 32 bit windows 7 machine up and running, since most of these tutorials seemed to be aimed at older OSes.
Is there any hope?
Ok, I got a Windows 7 32 Bit machine running and installed with Android SDK, fastboot, and ADB. As I mentioned previously, my kindle is only "detected" by my computer for about 30 seconds before it disappears. The same is true on the Windows 7 box, unfortunately. When I run "adb devices" while the device shows up, it comes up with "0123456789ABCDEF unauthorized". When I run fastboot devices, it doesn't find anything.
How can I get my device detected properly?
How can I get the kindle to stop in ADB/fastboot mode so I have more than 30 seconds to try things?
