[Q] Recovery not working, stuck on taktik screen - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there fellows! This is my first post, I'm a total newbie here.
I read a lot and search over the internet to fix this but can't find an answer.
So I drop my phone and broke, and my friend's brother gave me this HTC Desire HD but the recovery doesn't work (neither the volume or the power work on recovery to make a selection) and it gets stuck at when starting on the TakTik logo. What to do there? Is this been explained somewhere else? I can't find it...
Is it a goner?
The info in the recovery screen is as follows:

This is not recovery screen, this is hboot (bootloader) screen. From Hboot you can go to recovery.
I didn't understand very well, when you are in hboot screen and whant to press volume (up or down) or power button you don't see any changes on a screen?
And what do you have in hboot screen writen after date and time (colored letters).

Oh, Ok I think is the hboot screen it says something like this:
HBOOT <===(white font on blue highlight)
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT <===(white font on blue highlight)
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
Thanks a lot for answering!
When I press the volume buttons or power without any response. Now my friend's bro told me the volume up doesn't work but the volume down does. And I think it does since I'm able to get to the hboot pressing Power+Vol Down.

Can fastboot see it when you try to go to hboot? Can adb see it when you try to boot normally? Are your volume buttons broken,

Thank you folks, I got really busy the last few weeks, but I did checked fastboot and didn't saw the phone but adb saw it, so I did a recovery reboot with a rom loaded on the sd card, wiped the memory and installed and it worked, the same taktiK, is looks good so far. Thanks for your help.

[Q] *Cannot boot any more* Help with my rooted froyo phone.

I am stuck...
My phone won't boot. It simply opens up the initial HTC EVO 4G screen and stalls. I can't attach to it with adb. I DO get the boot menu if I do the lower volume button when I press power on.
It says:

HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
HBOOT USB
Through "FASTBOOT", I can get to a FASTBOOT menu which says,
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
I can read my SD Card directly on my computer.. and I have tried placing a couple of ROMS stored as PC36IMG.zip, and the ROM DOES read these, but all it says is checking, and then goes back to the HBOOT menu.
HELP!
Can someone tell me what I need to get my phone in working order..
Before this happened I had a rooted .6 2.2 Froyo ROM working well.. All of a sudden, it just stopped working and acted like this.
Thanks,
- Daniel
Have you tried performing a recovery?
Yes, clicking on recovery in the boot menu, just brings up the HTC EVO 4G white screen.
you have the 79 hboot, think you lost root. Should be 76.

New user needs help - nand backup

Hi all, I just rooted my phone using Amon-ra and unrevoked -- latest one. I am trying to do a nand backup so I can flash a kernel onto my phone, but I cant find the option.
When I power into the bootloader, and navigate to recovery. It gives me a red yield sign with an exclamation point. When I press volume up and power, it takes me to the Android system recovery <3e>. I see options to reboot system now (reboots back to main screen), apply sdcard:update.zip (which gives me some error), wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition.
I downloaded Rom manager but thats only for clockwork recovery.
What am I doing wrong? What do i need to do?
Thanks for the guidance.
Android with the yellow exclamation is the stock recovery. What happens when you hold vol down & press power?
BTW, this is also Q&A material, not development.
If I push volume down and power, it takes me to the Hboot/Bootloader, whatever that screen is called, where you have option to fastboot, recovery, etc.
Sorry I didnt realize this was development. I have been reading a lot of threads on this so I assumed incorrectly. Please feel free to move it, or I can do it manually.
Thanks again

What do you see at the top of the HBoot screen? S-ON or S-OFF?
Also, what H-Boot version?
Sounds like your Unrevoked didn't take. reboot your phone and try again.

I was told Amon-RA recovery was the best. I followed the instructions step by step. Even saw the $ change to #. What went wrong? Is there no way for me to create a backup with flashing other things? I mean do I even have a rooted phone? I know the superuser app doesnt have anything in it. Its blank! But I have a superuser app.

I think you can do one of 2 things:
1. Redo Unrevoked. If you scroll down to Recovery in the Fastboot/Bootloader screen and it takes you to the stock recovery then it didn't flash recovery.
2. Boot into your phone and, making sure USB is turned on in Settings > Applications > Development, use this from Amon-Ra's post
via fastboot
Code:
Copy recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img to a location where fastboot can find it.
Boot your phone into fastboot mode
fastboot devices(press enter) (to make sure that fastboot "sees" your phone)
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img(press enter)
Ok just tried doing the above:
Copied that recovery.img file to my sdcard.
Restarted phone into Hboot
Phone checked for PCIMG -> wasnt there
Then went into Fastboot
the following are the options that i have: Bootloader, Reboot, Reboot Bootloader, and power down.
not sure what to do?
Bumping it like im sooo fine.

Buddy You are s-off so there's no Need to flash a Ruu. If You still have recovery (CWM) just put a Rom in the sdcard and flash...if not reflash CWM and then reflash a ROM....

yes, I have guided a guy the other day so I will direct you to that thread....but first, check that CWM is not there anymore. Boot in hboot and then choose recovery.
This is the thread, you need basic knowledge of adb commands, if you need help just let me know......

[Q] Problem on HBOOT screen

Hey guys, I have an HTC Wildfire S, and from what I can tell it is CDMA (does not have a SIM card), and apparently it goes by other names as well....marvelc, A510c, PG762. I managed to unlock it, root it, and s-off it, thanks to all the fantastic help here on XDA.
I am ultimately trying to get it so that I can try out different ROM's and such, so I wanted to install ClockworkMod Recovery on it as well. This is where the problem lays.
In the process of "playing" with the phone, I believe I screwed it up somehow....Apparently, in order to install ClockWorkMod Recovery, one of the steps is to press Vol-Down and Power at the same time, it WILL give the screen that says:
***UNLOCKED***
MARVELC PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.10.0001
MICROP-0354
RADIO-0.94.00.1226
Apr 17 2012, 18:21:30 etc.
But underneath, where it says:
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
When I plug-in tha usb cable to pc and it SHOULD say "HBOOT USB PLUG".... it does not.
I *should* be able to Vol-Down to RECOVERY and install ClockWorkMod Recovery that way, no? The problem is, I ***CANNOT*** Vol-Down, Vol-Up, Power, or anything...the phone takes over at this point, and the next thing I see is:
***UNLOCKED***
MARVELC PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.10.0001
MICROP-0354
RADIO-0.94.00.1226

HBOOT
Parsing... [PG76DIAG.nbh.]
[1] MFG DIAG
Update is in progress...
Jumping to DIAG...
The phone flashes a few times and then "Get SW Version"...etc....
In order to use the phone again at all, I need to pull battery out and re-insert, and start normally.
I need to say, OTHER THAN THIS, the phone *does* seem to work normally....
What can I do to fix this? Is it a matter of resetting the hboot? Is this possible? Please help, I have no idea what to do....
Also, if someone can PLEASE give me a detailed step-by-step instruction on how to install ClockWorkMod Recovery, as well as CyanogenMod, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you in advance.
I have also made a video of me attempting to boot the phone and what I just described....but being as I am a noob here, they won't let me post it....msg me and I can PM you the link
PS. I should tell you guys I have tried this with fastboot on as well as off...same results.
Also, I found similar HBOOT problems in the threads, but they were not HTC-Wildfire-S, CDMA-marvelc-A510c-PG762 specific.
Time to feel silly you have left the pg76diag.nbh after you s-offed pal. The bootloader will Always look for this file and others and if it finds them and they are untampered with, and have the correct cid (s*on) then it will execute them. If you are s-off it will always execute no matter what the cid/tampered state. Delete this file and any other pj76 files from your sd card then boot to hboot. The device will look for these pj76 type files and if it finds none it will give you control of the volume buttons and activate the USB plug if it is attached

Hi, I don't believe it's hardware as the volume buttons are working to get you Into the hboot. Its most likely your sd card, can you take it out, then boot to hboot and see if your volume buttons work

Hmmm. Ok, here's what we will do. I will post you a link to a hboot flashable version of clockworkmod recovery, which you will need to place onto the root of your sdcard (not within any folder) and make sure its call pc49img.zip, this will flash clockworkmod to your device. Once its done reboot normally and when fully booted issue the adb command adb reboot recovery and this will boot into clockworkmod. Lastly make a back up of everything and consider a custom Rom with a reboot to recovery option built in (most if not all have them)
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using Tapatalk
EDIT: ok attached is the download. just place it onto your sdcard and boot into hboot. The hboot will find it and ask you to flash it with volume up. all going well this will work and you will have cwm.

Thak you , could you please reupload the attachement , it shows 404 file not found. appreciat that.
Ok I have found the file pc49img.zip in other topics here in the forum thank you.
Now I have the CWM intalled , I have istalled the Cyanogen Mode 7.2.0 stable version via"install from zip" in CWM menu.
The situation is pretty the same. when I perform a reboot frome the cyanogenmode, the phone reboot normally. But when I try to power on the phone after a normal power off it stuck again on the fastboot menu as before. so i have to performe a fastboot rebout command to boot the phone again normally which is pretty annoying.
If I take out the battery , same thing it stuck on the fastboot menu.
I have removed the SD card in all the situations.
Now the situation is getting really weird.
any toughts ?
thank you again.
Hmmm. Very very strange. It's almost as if your volume down button is constantly depressed. Does it work while booted into the Rom?

Another thing that Ive notice is while on the ROM the screen doesnt got into sleep it just blinks every 5 or 6 sconnds and when I push the power button to lock the screen , it also just blinks and does not sleep.
thanks for your support.
just another information that could help out. If I pulled the battery and I left the phone off for about 3-4 days it boots up normally, but when I reboot it freezs again on the fastboot menu.
Its getting really weird.
Thank you.
Hmmm. I suspect that it's hardware damage, but what hardware I'm not sure. Sorry bud but I'm out of ideas
