Hi,
I wonder what will be the differences between the Desire and the Supersonic.
As far as I know the Supersonic is the same as the Desire but has the 4.3" screen like the HD2 has had. Ans the over all design may differ.
So did you here some more differences between them two?
And when does the Supersonic come? I heard in summer, maybe june?!
And more RAM/ROM, each with 1gb
I heard also that they'll come out in the summertime.
I just get what is available at the time.. I.e when the iPhone 3gs came out I gave that a go.. Gave that up for the HD2.. Will be changing from the HD2 to the desire... Next will either be Supersonic? or Possible next iPhone??? Unless something more interesting arrives in the mean time.. Guess its a bit like PC's... You could always be waiting for the next best thing the way smart phones are going at the moment..
Then go for the HTC Scorpion/Olympian in Q3 2010. With dual-core snapdragon 1.5Ghz
http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/09/htc-scorpion-with-1-5ghz-snapdragon-wimax-tipped-in-build-file/
Qualcomm details:
Code:
The single-chip, dual-CPU QSD8672™ includes most of the above features, in addition to:
* Dual CPUs, up to 1.5 GHz for faster response and processing
* Low-power 45nm process technology for higher integration and performance
* Higher-resolution WSXGA ([B]1440 x 900[/B]) display support
* High-definition (1080p) video recording and playback
* Support for HSPA+ networks - 28 Mbps downloads and 11 Mbps uploads
* Supports CDMA2000 1X, 1xEV-DO Rel 0/A/B networks
* Improved 3D graphics - up to 80M triangles/sec and 500M+ 3D pixels/sec
Yeah as far as I know it has a 4.3 inch screen and maybe some more RAM and ROM. I have an 4.3 inch screen now, which has pro's and con's. IMO the perfect screen would be between 3.7 and 4.0 inch..
The supersonic is probably going to be more expensive as well. I would go for the desire.
@XDA mark.
Can you say a little bit more about the screen size?
Whats the downside for you of a 4.3"?
i hope verizon gets one of these high powered phones

Great scott, that is mighty powerful. If this is true, my next phone will have a better display than my 15.6'' vaio laptop.

Sorry to but in. I've owned the HD2 as well. The 4.3" is awesome to use but it is a fraction on the big side (and I have large hands). You will need deep pockets or a purse.
After a month, I was used to it and it felt perfectly natural. Having said that, I think I agree with the sentiment that 3.7" - 4.0" is the sweet spot.
So does the Supersonic come to Germany?
If it really is a Wimax device I sadly think : "No".
Because Germany doesn't get wimax but LTE.

The Supersonic looks like its going to Sprint. They use CDMA, so it wont be coming to Europe at all. I was so disappointed when i found this out, but i moved on to the Desire..
Yeah if thats the truth I will get a Desire too (silver or brown? )
silver looks really good, but i think ima stick with brown.

Sure.
First of all, 4.3'' screen means BIG phone. It is just a tiny bit to large to stay 'naturally' in your hand. When you have 2 hands available and you are not moving it is not such a big problem, but when only having one hand and on the move it can be 'not pleasant'. So again, nothing that is really bad, but it is not perfect either.
4.3'' inch screen with 480x800 resolution also is not as sharp as 3.7 inch and the same resolution. Not that the HD2's screen is not amazing though.
Overall what I am trying to say is: it is nice to have a 4.3'' inch screen, but somehow I feel it is not needed. The iPhone's screen is now tiny for me, and I feel that is TOO small. But I asume 3.7'' is just fine. I really think at the moment 3.7 to 4.0 inch is the perfect size, for the current operating system's and applications made for them.
Hope this clears up what I was talking about
To not forget that 4.3 inch screen can be very nice sometimes: Browsing and watching movies is off course better on such a large screen!

Dual 1.5GHz CPU?? The battery will have to be the size of a small African Nation to get more than a few hours use from it?

Indeed I don't see why we would need that much power from our phones. The Desire should be powerful enough, and we can leave dual-core CPUs for our laptops.
Yeah but the Supersonic with 1Ghz and 4.3" Screen would be a good alternativ with a bigger screen for the Desire.
They did announce it yesterday as Sprint HTC EVO 4g and I hope it gets to Germany/Europe.

Knowing the way HTC likes to play mix and match with it's phones I would not pt it past them to release a 3G GSM version of the supersonic, though obviously it would be called something else.

Donno about the hardware quality but this phone is tooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool.
I currently have Dell Streak 5" but MI-500 beats it in all the specs and prices too
I have Spice MI 410, and can say, it has good hardware quality ...... very much satisfied with MI 410 enjoying android over it ....:0
Expecting this too have good harware quality .... will look the future of the same
Never used Spice ever.. let's see. I am sure that your comments would be true for the MI-500 also. I might be switching to MI-500 due to ICS 4 from my Dell Streak 5
Would love see comments from other spice users regarding hardware

Dunno.......it most probably will have because an older phone from spice - mi410 had one....
--------------------
I didn't find the COMPLETE specs anywhere on the web......we'll have to wait for spice to start the sales or gsm arena to post the complete specs!!
Spice Mi-500 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz Dual-Core processor. It is even not clear whether it has a LED flash. Comes with ICS out of the box.
wowee
Seems more likely to have the MSM8225 at this price point.
The Mi-500 is said to have a Snapdragon S4 processor.
It has Cortex A5 dual core and Adreno 203 Graphics processor, which if you go by the numbering system of Qualcom, it will be less powerful then the Adreno 205.
I seriously hope not. I am so looking forward to this mobile.
And the screen resolution is definitely going to be 800x480.
Well lets see upon the release of the product in the market
is it a rebranded chineese
does any one know its oem i guess it is a rebranded chinese phone as always.
I was interested to hear about the dual core CPU on the Mi-500. But there is a lot of repeated articles around the net, most are cut n paste from each other and lacking the same information.
The only say 3G, I have not been able to find what bands it supports. If it is only 2100 then its not much better than the four variants of chinese/korean 5" phones (mtk6575 1Ghz, single core based) around the market (ebay & internet stores). Superior CPU, inferior camera.
Notable points,
No LED flash, No auto focus, a step down in feature from their smaller screened Mi-425
CPU Dual core Snapdragon 1Ghz
GPU 300Mhz
RAM 512 (1g would have been nicer to go with the dual core)
3G? HSPA likely
Dual Sim, guessing this will be a 2G only slot and a 3G/2G slot
It seems this brand is aimed solely at the Indian market, so getting one elsewhere might be difficult (only found one Spice brand ph on ebay as an indication)
I would really like dual sim in a 5" phone, But to suit Australia 3G 850/900/2100 would be best, might have to wait 6 months, or forgo dual sim and go for a galaxy note.
I've never liked the small screens on smartphones, its only the new 5" versions that make me consider changing from carrying an old 2G only phone & laptop.
(i found some of the extra info in a thread titled "First Look Spice Stellar Horizon" -google it)
Found the manufacturers website see (si2imobilityDOTcom), no information posted there, nor could I find information on what 3G bands are supported, I guess the answer is "the Indian ones" Though it does seem likely it is HSPA judging from their other phones

Sorry but what's wrong with
"snapdragon ?? MediaTek ?????"
snapdragon is manufactured by Qualcomm & MT65xx is manufactured by Mediatek...However, Mediatek choose to keep secret for their source code while Qualcomm public part of their source code on-line...
With the source code, developers & ROM cookers at XDA can do wonder with it !
Just stumble upon this video about snapdragon melting butter test...
Hilarious but very true...

Hello.....
This thread is about the The ELEPHONE P8 MTK6592 1.7GHz Octa Core 5.7 inch with FHD 1920x1080.
Will be updating this thread with relevant info!
WRITTEN REVIEW:
I have now used the phone for some days, and I already have a good impression of this phone. The Elephone is high quality compared to my older HDC Galaxy Note 3 N9006 (with only Quad Core). You really can feel and see that the Elephone P8 is of the newer Octa-core generation. Almost everything is better on this phone than on older Quad Cores.
The screen is really nice, sharp & clear and have some real vivid colours. Almost everyone that I have showed the device, have told me that the screen is very nice. So the FHD 1920x1080 must do a difference.
The camera in the Elephone P8 is also of the "good" type. It has some few extras like object focus, voice capture etc, but especially photos indoor are much better than on my older HDC. I think it is pretty equal to the Jiake X3S (also Octa Core). My wife tried the camera, and the first she said to me is, "wow this one, actually has a good camera".
The Dual Sim and 3G works perfect! The speed of the phone is what you can expect from an Octa-core. And scores close to 27000 in Antutu. Games and apps runs very good on the phone. The backspeaker is loud, even maybe too loud sometimes (there is a setting to boost the volume in the phones options). But especially the earspeaker and the quality is 10 times better than on my HDC. That is really a big plus for me. You hear people really clear when you speak with them.
The phone is really big (even bigger than the normal Note 3) so it is only for people with big hands But the overall build quality of the phone is very good, almost as good as the real brands like Samsung, HTC etc. I have noticed that it is very solid, and it doesn't feel cheap at all.
If I shall say something bad, then it must be the light in the hardware buttons, it could be stronger. But at least there is some light. And there is no options to set the sensitivity of the screen. I would like it to be a little bit more sensitive if possible, but still it is good. Another thing is that I haven't found a way to change to a custom wallpaper on the stock lockscreen, it only allowes me to use the builtin wallpapers.
The battery life is good, I would say 1 1/2 day with normal usage. But it also has a pretty big battery, but on the other hand also a very big screen, which uses a lot of power - so it evens out. I will recommend this phone if you want a phone with good quality, it is not a 1:1 clone of the Note 3. But it has much better build quality than the clones have. The problem with the 1:1 clones are that they often are cheap made, because they are sold as clones and not have their own brand/name.

Hi there, loved your review! very detailed and informative about the phone.
Influenced me to buy it.
I've got the phone now and was just wondering will there ever be an option to improve screen sensitivity? because in some games the screen is not responsive enough, which is disappointing because it is fast enough to handle them well
I was also wondering if new roms or updated firmware will improve battery life? and where would you be able to download them?
thanks, I shall await your reply !

I think ROMs will come on www.needrom.com when available, but so far I have not tried any other ROM yet.
Have not found a way yet to alter the screen sensitivity in games.

Just wanna let you know I will have one soon and will begin tinkering. Hopefully we can make this phone a community supported one!

There seems to be a new Rom:

Nice review by the OP. So far it's been pretty good. Has anyone found a working CWM or TWRP custom recovery yet?

I tried it, it is good, they don't have the samsung look anymore but the one dreathfull thing about kitkat:
http://www.androidcentral.com/kitkat-sdcard-changes
I couldn't use go backup and titanium backup anymore so i went back to 4.2.2
The galaxy tab s products that are available to me have an octa-core processor, with the high speed cores being 1.9ghz. I can't really understand why Samsung chose to use that instead of a 2.3ghz quad-core like in the tab pro.
See Wikipedia for an explanation of the concept: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_...multi-processing_.28global_task_scheduling.29
Because the Exynos 5 Octa-core is the one processor that Samsung has to be able to compete with Snapdragon 800, and is cheaper to implement since it's their own processor. I don't buy the Octa-core hype, I'd be happier with the Snapdragon 800 honestly like on the Tab PRO 8.4.
The question is:
Does TAB S use the 8 cores at the same time?
It seams it does NOT, little cores are only used when low power is required..
So performance wise, this CPU is slower than SD 800

And yet I am getting 35,300 on Antutu using Shaheers t800 rom which is higher than any other current tablet or phone. (Shaheer's rom should go out of beta today - don't flash until final has been posted).
The Tab Pro 8.4 Antutu is 32,806.
I CANT PLAY NOVA 3 with exynos !
AND GAMING IS NOT SO SMOOTH ! STILL A BIT LAGGY
I can see the argument that you don't always need full power, thus the four slow cores, but since all cores can't run at once, it seems a cheat to have 1.9ghz as the top speed for the faster four cores. Since, or at least I assume, cores step up and down as needed, it seems to me a snapdragon 800 or higher at 2.3ghz or higher would have been just fine. I mean, if you are going to put in 3gb of RAM, then you should put in a great cpu also and not pretend less (1.9ghz) is a better contribution to what is supposed to be a premium tablet.
And yet I don't think samsung is doing enough to utilizing this hardware capability. In theory it should run at least 4x faster and 6x more effecient then the snap dragon and apple current A8 chip. It has failed to outshine the competitors because samsung software department sucks. Samsung hardware is still great though.

Blame the developer for not making it compatible. Tegra powered Htc one x is incompatible too so not sure that is exynos issue..
i wish my t805 had Full HD screen resolution :cyclops:
Funny. Was just browsing the web a bit on my i5 ultrabook and it occurred to me that the browser on my Tab S is actually faster. If gaming is your primary thing, I'd buy the Nvidia Shield, not the Tab S. This tablet is designed for eye candy media consumption (internet and video) not for gaming enthusiasts. Try running your PC video card at 2560 x 1600 on ultra and see what you get.
i had heard from a Samsung rep i actually enjoy talking to that Sammy had just figured the all cores at once and we should see updates that turn that feature on. when this will happen who knows. i also did not ask him for a link and now cant find that info on the web so when i see him again soon i will get more info.
i would assume (insert you know what that means) that when/if this happens the full power of this setup would greatly improve?
anyway i have had my Tab S running snappy for me and no complaints at this time
You cannot compare the clock speeds from two different processors. For instance, you can't compare the 1.9GHz quad-core of the Exynos to the 2.3GHz quad-core of the Snapdragon 800. This doesn't mean anything. If you compare the clock speed of two Snapdragon chips, that's ok, or if you compare the clock speed of two Exynos chips, then that's ok too. Comparing the clock speed of an Intel chip against the clock speed of an AMD chip, is the same as comparing the clock speed of an Exynos chip to the clock speed of a Snapdragon chip.
The Exynos chip in this tablet has been shown to compete very well/close with the Snapdragon on every level except GPU. The Mali GPU in this chip just doesn't match the Adreno GPU from the Snapdragon. However, the RAM is faster in the Exynos than the Snapdragon.
That said, I am a fan of the Snapdragon chip, of course. I was holding off to see if the LTE variant of this tablet would have the Snapdragon 800, but instead they shipped with an Intel LTE modem. Besides apps/games not being optimized for Exynos, I am fairly satisfied with my purchase. I'm just anxious to get CyanogenMod(or any other AOSP ROM installed on it).

Could also mean increased battery consumption, don't know. Overall I am satisfied with this Tab including battery life.
There are 3 different performace results:
a) what Exynos 520 does achieve in practice now, measured bei some benchmarks and real world performance (<= Snapdragon 800)
b) what it could do theoretically - but will never happen due to driver and scheduler etc issues (>> Snapdragon)
c) what it will do some day in near future on an optimized ROM (somewhere in between?)
Fortunately the Exynos 5420 does support all 8 cores in parallel, see here:

If it is possible to implement in today's existing source, I'm sure @AndreiLux would know about it ?

http://www.androidauthority.com/sam...ta-can-use-eight-cores-simultaneously-267316/
I've found a few articles saying it should support it, then a couple Deva saying they had to goto the 5422 for a working implementation of HMP.
Here is a post from odroid

That's weird. The (newer) 5422 supports HMP but not 3gb RAM.
Hello there!
I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this. My friend has a Cloudphone Thrill Plus which has 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6580 quad-core CPU while our Vibe K5 Plus has 1.2GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616.
My phone has an Antutu Score of 40780 while my friend only has 24850.
Vainglory runs at 30-50 FPS at Low settings while my friend runs it at 25-30 FPS at the same settings.
BUT, here's where it gets mysterious.
Alto's Adventure (A 2D game) runs a little slow on my phone, while his runs it flawlessly
Injustice: God's Among Us (A 3D game) runs flawlessly on his phone, while mine is a little bit sluggish
Dream League Soccer (A 3D game) runs flawlessy on his phone, while my phone can barely get to 30FPS with that game.
Same with Mortal Kombat X (3D), Space Marshals 2 (3D) and other seemingly low-end games.
My phone's GPU and CPU is set to max clock at performance governors.
I am rooted and currently using MIUI 8.
BRIEF SUMMARY:
Phone performs poorly when compared to lower-end phones.
FOR REFERENCE:
Here is a comparison of the 2 CPU's
http://system-on-a-chip.specout.com...k-MT6580-vs-Qualcomm-Snapdragon-616-MSM8939v2
Are we missing something here? Or is my phone fake/bugged?
If this is a widespread problem, let's fix this, If I am the only one having it, then I don't know, please help.
When it comes to in-game performance, a processor isn't everything there is. If your friend has a 720p screen, that's what's causing most of the performance boosts. Rendering at 1080p is a taxing task, and will take a lot of processing power from both the set of processors and the GPU. Another factor to take into account is the amount of RAM available for a game's process.
In my opinion, if you're looking for performance, you shouldn't be using a MIUI ROM to begin with. Switch to AOSP-based or LineageOS-based ROMs, and try experimenting with custom kernels. There's always a possibility of your phone having a manufacturing defect or simply being fake, but that is extremely unlikely.
He has a bigger screen than me, I have 3GB ram and he only has 1.5
I have tried different roms but they still give the same result.
It's possible that My device might be rendering at 1080p while his is at 480p or 720p even though he has a bigger screen.
If so, then how can I change my screen to 720p?
I'm hesitating about changing to Nougat since benchmarks show that Marshmallow still performs better
Okay so I downloaded a resolution changer, but it messes with the off-screen hardware buttons, is there a way to retain the hardware buttons while on a lower resolution?

This is one more post that confirms that benchmark scores doesn't mean s**t in real life. Don't trust benchmarks, on all phones I had roms with lowest scores gave the best performance.
