Hi,
I have the G Pad GPE and was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the back of the unit getting very hot (especially the top) and laggy while playing games (Asphalt 8 in my case)? At times it also gets very hot while charging and when it does so it stops charging. I'd like to see if anyone else is having these issues before I contact Google for a replacement.
Thanks

If you charge it with the original charger, on stock rom, with the stock kern, and it "stops charging" you should just get it replaced, regardless of others having the same issue or not.

Thanks. In general it charges slowly which I see is pretty common. When it overheats (~40°C) during charging it basically stops or charges extremely slowly. It doesn't happen all the time though. When it doesn't overheat it charges ~25% per hour. Regardless of the overheating, is that charge speed normal using the stock charger and cable?
BTW I am stock everything right now. Waiting to mess around with it until I decide to replace it or not.
I have the same problem but myne is not GPE. It is very hot! and laggy i had replaced once but the new unit also has the issue. I dont know how to fix it.
My no longer lags any more apart from the occasional HIC up when watching long 1080p movies

So i've had my GNex a while, and its a great phone and has served me well.
Recently, it has started acting a bit flakey regarding its battery. First thing i noticed was it seemed to drain much faster than usual. Then after some time i also noticed that it no longer registered as "full" after a night on charge. The battery meter would get to 89%, then just sit there.
Viewing the battery stats in the settings menu currently says "10 days 22h..." on battery, and the graph shows it going up to 89% each night, then falling during the day. In the past, and on the wifes nexus 4, this screen would show only the time since it was fully charged and unplugged.
I did some googling and found some odd, random posts, some suggesting a bad kernel on custom rom, some suggesting a bad battery. I'm running the stock rom, and its being doing this on both 4.2 and 4.3. After a while i decided the battery must just be worn out, so ordered up a nice new genuine samsung battery, and installed it....
Same problem continues. It gets to exactly 89% then stops charging...
Any ideas?

I've never heard of this before. I take it you've tried the obvious like changing the charger etc.
I wonder if perhaps somehow the charging circuit or usb connector is faulty. Have you also checked the battery connectors to make sure their clean.
If I was a betting man though I would go for some wear and tear or damage to the usb port.

theres quite a few posts about it, and in all cases it seems unresolved, and its almost never an issue with the charger or port. It charges perfectly fine from 0% right thru to 89% with no issue, then just stops.
More worryingly, some folk seem to report the issue getting worse as time goes on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794231&highlight=not+fully+charging
Whats very odd, is that in those threads theres a common trait: you can charge the battery in an external charger, or another phone so its full, then when fitted to the faulty phone it immediately displays the lower level that phone gets stuck at (89% in my case, but much lower in some other peoples). This suggests that the battery IS actually being fully charged, but for some reason the phones viewing "full" as some lower value.

From reading through some of that thread you posted I can only conclude that this is a hardware issue since it seems to affect several versions of Android and not all devices.
Have you tried opening a dialogue with Samsung?

this is what happened to me. verizon replaced it under warranty, no questions asked. the thread i made can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2059289
edit: i should clarify that verizon replaced it under samsungs warranty. i did not have any extended warranty service through verizon.
Mine wouldn't charge past 98% but i just changed outlets and it started charging all the way up again. I guess my phone doesn't like my extension cord :/

It would just stall at 98-99% for a while

Even my GSM GNexus running stock 4.3 would stop as soon it reaches 98% and you need to like unplug-plug the USB to fully charge it and it
might get annoying, since to charge that 2% it might stop like 4-5 times intermittently and then get fully charged, its more like software update
issue not a hardware one as before getting on stock android I used custom ROM they had no issue while charging, even in 4.2.1 stock I had faced
similar situation.
I have a 32G Nexus 7, one of the first of the 2013 units.
So far everything has been great, but as of late I have been seeing reboots while it is sitting on the Qi charging pad.
(The pad is the Samsung unit.)
No case on it, no reboots during the day that I've seen at all, and not happening every night, but it's becoming annoying due to the bright screen right next to the bed. (It's my alarm.)
Has anyone else seen this happening?
rebbots while charging plugged with original charger

Im just had 2 reboots while charging whit the standard charger. All im unning apart the standard background processes is pocketcast and malwarebytes.
Yes, I see it regularly. The tablet only reboots when it's plugged in (using the stock charger). Doesn't matter time of day, safe mode or not, it always happens randomly when plugged in. I also have the 32GB from one of the launch batches and this is my second one.

So after trying safe mode and clearing the cache, it seems that a factory reset has fixed my issue. I'm reinstalling my apps a few at a time, as I now suspect one of them is the culprit. If I find out which one, or if Google responds to my bug report submittal with an actual answer, I'll let you know.

Mine does it every day or so.
Irritating, but not damaging.
Has anyone else noticed a slow down in the fast charging speed. Mine can take 2 or 3 hours or more. Seems to happen when the screen is on and not such an issue with the screen off.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Are you on a custom Rom? Not that the ROM itself has much to do with the charging, since the charging is controlled by an IC in the phone, but I've noticed my custom Roms tend to run warmer than the stock rom. Consider making sure your phone is cool while charging.
No I'm running colors 1.2.6i non root.
I've just had a thought prompted by your comments. Clean master is reporting that lookout is causing the phone to run hot. I will try disabling it and then charge. Will report back in case it helps someone out. Thanks.
Mine is fast even with screen on.
Ok if it's helpful to anyone cleaning the battery contacts foxed the issue. Vooc charger is back to its awesome self.
well this is really weird i have sony xperia Z5 Premium Dual E6883
i was on locked bootloader and i was face sometimes overheating issues and very slow charging
i managed to fix that with force shutdown device with volume up and power buttons let device charge with power of for a time
then turning phone power on and let him continue charging
now
i unlocked bootloader to try some roms and kernels so maybe it will fix this issues
overheating and charging very slowly still and nothing changed
and idea what i can do ? what is the cause of this is it a hardware bug or what ?
Hopefully it's not a hardware fault and something fixable. Sorry for asking but are you definitely using the correct cable? The one that came with the device. There are some cables that just don't supply enough current and cause a slow charge or don't cover enough input vs. what the device is using as it's trying to charge.
I bought this cable (hopefully the link works)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141825316...49&var=440951901515&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
It's the best charging cable I've ever had It shows you at the connection how much volts and current the device is pulling and has a switch to change between fast charge and standard usb speeds. If nothing else it could help identify if your device is not pulling enough power or if it's something else.
mine was like this as well, ive had it for a month now and lately its been perfectly normal. I think the snapdragon 810 is just a hot CPU.

Hey guys,
first of - sorry if this is oftopic.
I notice heavy charging issues on my g4 intl. The phone just won't charge probably.
I'm running on the latest cyanogenmod nightly, everything else works fine.
Cyanogen says "slow charging" even when I plug in the original cable, or a quick charge wallplug. With all micro USB cables everything is fine for a week or two, but after that everything repeats again.
It seems like the phone cuts down the input power to 300 milli amps or so, while "charging" the battery percentage is going down sometimes, too.
When the phone is off and plugged in, the charging is slow too.
But sometimes everything is fine for a charge or two.
Does anyone have the same issue or have a solution?
Greetings from germany
Okay I found some guys talking about this here, but is there any final solution for this?

It happens to me too, stock ROM, cm13, aosp, no difference.
I have tried changing USB cable (only cable) and device begin charging normally again.
I don't think it's something software related..
But if you have already tried with another charger and problem is still there..
I'm really frustrated. I don't know what is happening to my g4, since 2 month's I noticed heavy red screen ghosting, too. The phone was already repaired once from lg, there the problem was that it won't boot up anymore.. Next time I won't buy lg..

I got problems with display too..
Both lateral sides are brighter than the rest of the screen.
Especially with dark images it is absolutely horrible.
Will never ever buy LG anymore.
same problem here with the ghosting and the super slow charge some times battery goes down even while plugged to original charger, had a G2 before this, love the phone was almost flawless, this one I had it for almost a year now, piece of **** full of problems, now after the lates OTA the unlocking is retardedly slow, I double tap for unlocking the screen wakes up but dimmed and unresponsive and after a second it fully wakes up, I'm so frustrated with this piece of ****, the only good thing is the camera. Btw regarding the slow charging problem, I tried with different batteries and chargers and same results (I'm fully stock, no root no nothing)
