I had the problem of ghost charging, it started with phone not charging when connected to charger and then randomly showing charging(even when not plugged in i.e. ghost charging) .
After seeing other thread, i cleaned the port with paper and tooth pick and also pushed the inner tongue slightly upwards and now it doesn't show charging icon, but it says not charging in settings>battery, instead of discharging
It causes vbus_tuna_otg wake lock in Bette battery stats and high system usage in setting> battery, basically not letting the phone go to deep sleep, causing battery drain.
Have tried multiple roms and stock, etc all give same behaviour so definately h/w problem and also have two batteries and both do the same thing.
Any way to fix this. ?
Any help appreciated.

i actually live in India, and had purchased this from US from Google directly, so i dont think samsung will be providing replacement, they give only limited warranty after 14 days..
Any idea on how to solve problem or atleast let device go to sleep..

There's another thread in here somewhere where a guy replaced his USB port, you may look into that.

vbus-tuna_otg
Did you ever get it fixed, I also have the same problem I have been searching and searching and I can't find a solution. I have tried a new battery, resetting the phone to stock, cleaning the usb port, replacing the usb port, taking the phone apart and cleaning it, greenified a lot of apps and the phone still does it. I just ordered another usb port in case the first one I bought was defective. I have bbs and vbus-tuna_otg is the main kernel wakelock killing my battery. Hopefully someone can help us seeing as this is a Google flagship phone.
My phone is a Verizon 32GB Galaxy Nexus running CM 10.1.3
Have tried the same as you. Changed port and battery and problem still persists. It's probably a board thing and needs a board replacement. I ll just have to live with it. I have the GSM version. I wonder if there is any way of disabling the service /process that creates the wakelock...

Hi,
I have developed an open-souce (GPLv3) app that helps save battery when this happens.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484871
SnooZy Charger turns off the screen on these ghost connections, saving battery consumption by the display. It does not fix the charging issues, but it reduces the battery drain when this happens.

ps: sorry if this is considered as self promotion or xposting but this issue has been reported on multiple threads..

Hello:
My Tab Pro 8.4 has picked up an issue - it stops charging at 89%. Battery monitor - the one built in, as well as GSAM Battery monitor - show the charging increasing charge in a linear fashion to some 85%, then the rate gradually decreases, till the curve flattens at 89%. The phone still claims that the battery is charging.
I just discharged the phone fully, let it recharge - same behavior.
I did root the phone 2 days before, I wonder, if that has something to do with it.
Thanks for any info, Paul.

Hello,
maybe you need to recalibrate your battery. This can be done by deleting batterystats.bin. Search google play, there are some apps, that can do it.

Thanks for the info.
In desperation, I tried few things - first a Nandroid restore to the state just after rooting - that did not help.
Next I performed a hard reset. That fixed the problem for now.
I will carefully put back in the xposed modules I used, an see/hope that the problem does not come back.

Hi,
Did you find the actual cause of this?
I have a stock 8.4, non rooted and I find the same thing, I have attached a screen shot of the battery charge and dream. ...
Can anyone help with this please, the battery is bad enough without it topping off at 89%!!
Cheers,
Ian
Hi,
Has anyone else had this issue?
I let my tab run down to a dead battery, plugged it on over night and it is still only at 87% ...
Its driving me nuts!
I am not rooted, so don't see bow it's anything I have done, any ideas?!;
Thanks in advance

I do not have an answer, but I wanted to thank you for posting - your answer seems to indicate, that this is a issue not related to rooting.
While dealing with this, I have put back the stock rom ( but still with custom recovery on the device ) - which made charging work to 100%, then rooted again. With this config the charging worked for few days to 100%, till if failed again all of a sudden, getting stuck at 91% charge, and claiming, that the charging was ongoing for may hours.
While the charging was broken, I put on the CleanROM 1.0, and that fixed the charging problem again.
I do not see a clear pattern of this failure....
Paul.

This does not "calibrate" anything. Any app that claims to fix the battery meter by wiping this file, is making a bogus claim. All the batterystats.bin files does, is indicate how much battery various apps/processes are using since the last charge. The file gets wiped ever time you connect the charger:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-engineer-debunks-myth-wiping-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
What you want, is to reset the "high" and "low" voltage flags related to Smart Battery. If there is an app that can do that, it might resolve your issue. Flashing a ROM also resets the flags (why you always need to do a battery charge/discharge cycle to get accurate readings every time you flash a ROM). So you might flash the ROM you are already on (stock?) and see if that helps.
But the issue itself is odd. If a higher voltage is achieved, I believe the "high" flag should automatically be reset. I shouldn't just "stop" at 89%.
Yes, I have (had) the same problem. I would use the tab through the day, then plug it in. In the morning, it would almost always be around 89...sometimes a bit more, others a bit less. I loaded battery doctor from the play store and set up a widget to kill all but a few specified apps (yeah, I typically try to avoid task killers, but this was driving me crazy). In my case, when I killed the apps, the battery would finish charging.
Theory (take it with a grain of salt as your mileage may vary): either the charger I am using or the tab has 'intelligence' that slows the charging down when it nears full, possibly to protect the battery. Certain apps running (sleeping?) in the background seem to keep the tab perpetually in a near-full charge state -- just enough of a drain to balance the 'slowing' charge. Every time I have killed the apps, the tab has quickly finished charging.
Again, this is just my experience. YMMV Good luck.
Try running the battery down to below 20% then recharge it. That should recalibrate the battery monitor.

i have had the exact same issue , mine stops charging at 54% , need to unplug replug and then it starts charging back again, also from 78% it jumped straight to 100, something is really wrong , how could samsung break something so simple and basic
I've got a very similar problem. It stops charging, usually at something like 40 or 50. If I restart it will continue charging, but not all the way, maybe up to 70 or 80. I think I tried just disconnecting the charger and reconnecting it and it didn't work but I'll try it again as that would be easier than restarting...
I sent it for service and after weeks of back and forth they gave me the old "it's rooted, so it's out of warranty".
F U Samsung. This piece of **** tablet has been messed up since day 1. First with the over sensitive screen and now this. Sony FTW.

You need to unplug the battery under the rear cover. Then plug it back in and boot up and charge it. Only way to fix. I never had issues again after doing that.

Can you please take a picture of the procedure or make a short vid please? You open in from the rear (on the fake leather) of from the front( screens bezel) ?
I have the same problem with my SM-T325 , i've tried everything on forums : reset, hard reset( vol menu button power button) nothing works !
Thanks !
Ps: I'm using genuine 2A white charger and even tried with Asus Nexus 7 charger 2A( ridiculously is that it works better than with the genuine samsung, the white one needs 5 unplug/plugs, with Asus Black charger only 3 unplug/plugs )

My battery has the same issue. I'm going to start charging my Tab Pro 8.4 with a lower amp/volt charger. I think the 5.3 volts & 2 amps puts stress on the internal charging / battery regulator circuit. The 5.3 volt makes the usb cable in the tablet reasonably hot to the touch. (a hunch)
Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 Battery Replacement Video
Update: I scraped the 5.3 volt charger for a standard 5 volt charger @ 2 amps. It won't charge while in use but it does charge to 100% from 5%, powered off overnight. I also tested a 5 volt 1 amp charger (while slower) did charge from ~50% to 100%.
I would like to see others test this theory out.
Would also like to note, I believe Samsung included a 5.3V charger instead of a standard 5V so the tablet is able to charge while in use. My guess is the circuitry was originally designed for the standard 5 volts but once they saw the tablet's charge rate while on, they decided to throw in a different charger to make up for their mistake instead of a more reliable circuit design to handle the volt boost. More then likely they did tests to see if the tablet was able to handle the new charger but did not conduct the experiment for enough time to see the degrading results (faulty battery level readout).
If they knew of the issue in production they could have fixed the issue in a batch revision or recall or they flat out ignored the results and are in denial. Shame on Samsung if this is the case. Funny how they released the "better"("revision") Tab S while refusing to fix the Tab Pro. Now it seems to be biting them in the ass.
I still want to completely test this theory out and give it more time, but so far my assumption is seemingly correct.

I had another interesting experience with this tablet.... it charged 100% without notice that the battery is full(I saw this tiny little detail -battery full icon- ensures that it is really charged) restarted it to verify something and shock !!! the value dropped to 62% and the charging sequence stopped ...and even if it shows "charging" while I'm typing these lines, it dropped to 59% ). **** !!!
Hi,
I have the G Pad GPE and was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the back of the unit getting very hot (especially the top) and laggy while playing games (Asphalt 8 in my case)? At times it also gets very hot while charging and when it does so it stops charging. I'd like to see if anyone else is having these issues before I contact Google for a replacement.
Thanks

If you charge it with the original charger, on stock rom, with the stock kern, and it "stops charging" you should just get it replaced, regardless of others having the same issue or not.

Thanks. In general it charges slowly which I see is pretty common. When it overheats (~40°C) during charging it basically stops or charges extremely slowly. It doesn't happen all the time though. When it doesn't overheat it charges ~25% per hour. Regardless of the overheating, is that charge speed normal using the stock charger and cable?
BTW I am stock everything right now. Waiting to mess around with it until I decide to replace it or not.
I have the same problem but myne is not GPE. It is very hot! and laggy i had replaced once but the new unit also has the issue. I dont know how to fix it.
My no longer lags any more apart from the occasional HIC up when watching long 1080p movies

Hey guys,
first of - sorry if this is oftopic.
I notice heavy charging issues on my g4 intl. The phone just won't charge probably.
I'm running on the latest cyanogenmod nightly, everything else works fine.
Cyanogen says "slow charging" even when I plug in the original cable, or a quick charge wallplug. With all micro USB cables everything is fine for a week or two, but after that everything repeats again.
It seems like the phone cuts down the input power to 300 milli amps or so, while "charging" the battery percentage is going down sometimes, too.
When the phone is off and plugged in, the charging is slow too.
But sometimes everything is fine for a charge or two.
Does anyone have the same issue or have a solution?
Greetings from germany
Okay I found some guys talking about this here, but is there any final solution for this?

It happens to me too, stock ROM, cm13, aosp, no difference.
I have tried changing USB cable (only cable) and device begin charging normally again.
I don't think it's something software related..
But if you have already tried with another charger and problem is still there..
I'm really frustrated. I don't know what is happening to my g4, since 2 month's I noticed heavy red screen ghosting, too. The phone was already repaired once from lg, there the problem was that it won't boot up anymore.. Next time I won't buy lg..

I got problems with display too..
Both lateral sides are brighter than the rest of the screen.
Especially with dark images it is absolutely horrible.
Will never ever buy LG anymore.
same problem here with the ghosting and the super slow charge some times battery goes down even while plugged to original charger, had a G2 before this, love the phone was almost flawless, this one I had it for almost a year now, piece of **** full of problems, now after the lates OTA the unlocking is retardedly slow, I double tap for unlocking the screen wakes up but dimmed and unresponsive and after a second it fully wakes up, I'm so frustrated with this piece of ****, the only good thing is the camera. Btw regarding the slow charging problem, I tried with different batteries and chargers and same results (I'm fully stock, no root no nothing)

My redmi note 8 is restarting continuously. Whenever I try to power on the device it is turning off when the MIUI logo lights up. And this will go on a loop like 4-5 times like restarting and then turning off. But when I power on the device when it is plugged in it will work like normal. But when I try to play any sound on it again it will turn off. I can play a video without sound when the device is plugged in but if I try to increase the volume, the device will power ooff again. Can anyone suggest me a method to resolve this issue ?

It's as the hmd said, battery issue. Get your battery checked asap, because I had the similar issue, and when I replaced my battery I found out the old battery had became too loose like jelly. The servicing guy even said that it was good that I changed the battery then because it could have exploded. So don't delay it and do something about it. Damaged battery can be dangerous.
Sorry to bump up this thread, I've some questions, did you already replace your battery? Currently facing the same issue, and I'm sure its 99.8% battery fault. Unfortunately I can't replace it right away. The question is, do you remember yours charging speed before? I notice my quickcharge doesn't really work, which is good i guess, before my battery getting really bad, I rarely get over 10w anymore, and its just keep dropping, getting stable at 6-7w, right now its only charge at 3.5w. I just want to make sure its only battery/bms problem, not some ICs fault.

that's normal. Your battery's health is not good so I guess it can't handle the fast charging speeds. My phone's charging had also became inconsistent when my battery was damaged. sometimes it was charging very slow and at times very fast.
